Ok, we know they're young, and some of us may have known 25.3 (that's only two months less old than I am), but I believe that the reason for youth on defense is pure speed.

We're going to an "offensive minded defense". None of this waiting around bull****. We're attacking. The difference between young guys and old guys?

    Young guys can get there.
    Old guys know how.

    To generalize.

Young guys might not know all the techniques and have the experience the older guys do, but they're running purely on instinct. The game is fast and they have to be as fast if not faster. The older guys can rely on their knowledge of offenses more. Reaction time is key for both parties, but with our youth (read: CB/LB) we'll be able to pull blitzes from those positions off that an older guy (read: JT for example) may or may not be able to do. I love JT in a Phins uni as much as the next guy, and I really don't want this thread to head down that direction, so if you please...

I'm excited for Nolan and the defense. I'm excited that we're going to be young. And we're going to be fast. We will be beat several times where older, more experienced players would have known what to do. But we'll also be able to cause pressure by speed where maybe some of the older guys couldn't.

I want our defense running for 4 quarters, and in the 4th especially. By that point ideally we should be ahead by 2 TD (thank you, Henne & the Offense) and playing ball control while defensively we're forcing the pass and have all kinds of whacky *** coverage schemes drawn up with blitzes out the wazoo.

    Anyone else excited? :omg:

I am excited, but the "attacking defense" only works if everyone is extremely disciplined and wins their matchups. We'll either force opposing offenses into mistakes or leave our teammates out to dry.

Then again, our defense can't get burned much more than last year...
