Ok so the doc says my (LDL) bad cholesterol is high. He told me to exercise and watch my diet etc.....Of course Ive been doing this for awhile, and Im like dying for some real good, red meat, high cholesterol, heart clogging food for change!! My question is this....

Take a person, whose got perfect cholesterol and he does the exercise, and the diet enough to keep his cholesterol levels steady.......what if one day he decides to eat, say,....A bacon double cheese burger, with extra cheese and an extra helping of fries for lunch, then go back to eating the healthy diet and doing the exercise from there on out.....Now of course, the meal would raise all his cholesterol levels X amount pretty quikly,......Now, How long will it take for all his cholesterol levels to return to normal?

Everything in moderation I say, if your fiending for the good stuff....do you really need to slam all that, not saying its wrong, just saying...Go rip a bacon riddled burger and be done with it.....forget the fries, they are overrated bro...

yeah, Ive been kinda burnt out on frys so that will help. Definately wouldnt mind breaking down for a burger though!!....if not for the cravings, Id do it for the calories.......I just cant get the calories I need daily off of the stuff they want me to eat...well I guess I could if I ate 5lbs of broccoli and carrots daily LOL!! But yeah, gotta indulge myself here soon!!

Yes you can. Take a meal suppressant if need be but the information on packages is there for a reason.

As far as your cravings for red meat: I totally understand. I love red meat. I can eat hamburgers and steaks until I'm stuffed and then cram one last one down there for good measure. But I don't because I know I shouldn't. Substitute swordfish or salmon (comes out great with a sweet teryaki sauce). When you crave meat generally what you really crave is a heavier meal thats going to make you feel full. Swordfish especially has a steak-like texture so you really don't notice a difference. I ended up choosing teryaki sauce just to make the fish appear brown.

Save the cravings of red meat for when you go to your favorite steakhouse...make those meals count and limit yourself to maybe twice a month. Skip the fast food bull, its not even real meat or fries for that matter. Their meat is like grade d horsemeat crap and the fries in some of those places arent real potato, theyre stuffed with bacon fat. That should ruin that craving :wink2:

As far as your original question goes it varies based on metabolism so its impossible to give an accurate answer to the best of my knowledge.

The swordfish idea sounds like a good one. Ive never in my life eaten swordfish...in fact, only within the past 6 months have I opened up to seafood outside of shrimp and well.....shrimp! LOL!!..... One thing I miss, is grilling out. Id fire up the grill and cookout at least twice a week. Its hardly worth it if all Im gonna cook is a chicken breast, when I can just as easy cook it in a george foreman grill. .....With the swordfish idea, (and I hear mahi mahi and shark are similar to steak as well) I might be right back in business on the grill!! Id just have to do a little studying up on how to cook them, but hey,...thats half the fun in grilling!

Have you ever tried Bison...its all the red meat a man craves without the cholesterol the dr warns you about....and its delicious.

Also, cholesterol fluctuates all the time. If you eat a high cholesterol meal with in minutes your blood will be saturated untill your systems floods most of it out. If you had a bacon double cheeseburger once a month you would be just fine. Exercise usually helps to return the cholesterol levels back to normal after a meal with a few hours. MODERATION IS THE KEY

There are a handful of fish/shellfish that come out great on the grill: swordfish, mahi mahi, tuna, salmon, shrimp, lobster as well as any kind of lean protein like chicken or turkey. Never had shark. :wink2:
