He said he's here to play football and win a championship. But of course, he's not carrying the shoulder pads of another player, so he must be neglected.

I'd doubt they would do that Adamp, as that would effect the chances of winning games, now if/when Bryant has a bad game, or several, the knives will come out and go directly into the small of his back with "diva" "poor attitude" attached, especially in Dallas.

    TO 2.0 as it were.

    Bingo.

The group that didn't want to draft Dez Bryant for supposed "diva issues" now makes a mountain out of a molehill to continue justifying their position.

    Just keepin' it real baby.

Reporters sources tend to be Vets, the same vets Bryant is peeing on, let him drop a TD pass in a close game and see what happens..that is how the game works, Vet praises Rook, rook shuts mouth and learns, rooks who do not do so lose the benefit of Vet running flak for them.

well he better not isolate himself on the team thats all I'm saying. Its easier to succeed in a team sport if the team acutally likes you

Just tape the guy to the goalpost and leave him overnight. Shave a ***** in his hair. Dress him in drag and drop him off in hooker alley.
You carry pads cuz you just got a huge payday and haven't done a thing yet.

I think you missed the part where Bryant took less money than he could have gotten as a first round pick just to be in training camp on time.

He took a stance. Good for him.
The Cowboys took Dez because the position needed another play maker. They feel Roy Williams won't get it done in time. Maybe the rook is pushing the vet.
What happened in the past has no bearing because he chose not to carry the pads. Does that really matter that much?

    I really could care less.

Every rookie sucks a veterans **** after practice. so he has to do it.

i know thats excessive, but doing something just because "everyone does it" is bull****.

good for dez. roy williams needs to worry about dez taking his snaps, not his pads.

Doing something because it is tradition and team building is a good idea.

Dez is proving to be someone who does not get it. If football was all about players showing up with the most talent then the Redskins would win every championship.

When keeping it real goes wrong.

I'm sure the Cowboys are going to be real happy about answering dumb a$$ questions on how they feel about Dez creating controversy.

    just defending Bill Parcells

When Bill Parcells was still with the Cowboys, the team’s top pick was responsible for taking water to the coach during breaks at training camp.

Obviously everyone here defending Dez hates Bill Parcells :shifty:

hes doing more than just showing up, infact him "showing up" should be a good thing....most players these days are holding out squeezing every last dime out of a new contract.....dez took less money, signed quick, and is at practice.

showing up to practice ready to work has a hell've alot more to do with winning championships then being some vets ***** does.

It is about showing respect. Michael Irvin did it, Emmit Smith did it, Troy Aikman did it. Now Dez is saying he is better than all three of those cowboy greats.

It is not being some vet's *****, it is about showing respect. All he did is prove he doesn't get it.

I see both sides of the argument. On one hand, he should just carry the pads to develop camaraderie and chemistry with the team; just carry on the stupid rookie tradition. On the other hand, it is a stupid tradition. He should have just carried them to avoid drama. I'll wait a little longer to judge him but this says "diva" to me. Just go with the flow of the team.

For him to refuse means something thats for sure. It's not at all about him just being there to play football and learn. By this I mean, it's his excuse and it's really pretty lame.

My guess is one of the offensive or defensive lineman ask him to do something the next time.

It's possible that he refused to do it because it's Williams and Dez knows that he was basically drafted because Williams is an over rated flop in Dallas.....

That being said.... if someone else asks him to do something, he should just do it.

And this just in..........some of you are still really biased

Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback Jimmy Clausen may soon be delivering the ball to wide receiver Steve Smith on Sundays. But first Clausen had to deliver some groceries to Smith.

Charles Chandler of the Charlotte Observer passes along the story of how Smith welcomed Clausen to the team -- by telling him to do some grocery shopping.

Before Clausen flew from Los Angeles to Charlotte to report to the Panthers' facilities, Smith texted Clausen to tell him to bring some Cactus Cooler sodas with him. Cactus Cooler is an orange-pineapple soft drink that is popular in California, where both Smith and Clausen are from, but isn't available in most of the country.

Clausen said he followed instructions and got the Cactus Coolers to Smith.

"Steve seems like a great guy," Clausen said. "He's obviously a great player."

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...my-clausen-with-some-rookie-hazing/?related=1

No, Orton wasn’t making proclamations of taping Tim Tebow the flag pole or making Tebow chug a gallon of milk (though, I bet if anyone could do it, it would be Tebow), but just the thought of having a first-round draft pick hauling around Orton’s gear all summer did make Orton smile.

“Oh, that hasn’t started yet, but it most certainly will,” Orton said. “The higher you get picked, the more hazing there is.”

Orton said his initial meeting with Tebow today was pretty basic. Quick introductions, and that was it. Tebow also introduced himself to the full squad during the group meeting.

But perhaps the biggest thing Tebow did to start winning over his new teammates, especially Orton, Brady Quinn and Tom Brandstater, was to offer to fetch the playbooks and carry the helmets.

“He knows the deal,” Orton said.
