As the title suggests, what games are you looking most forward to the rest of the year? For singleplayer, it's a toss up between Crysis 2 and Fallout: New Vegas. Crysis and Fallout 3 were amazing games, and I can't wait to see how Bethesda and Crytek follow up. CryEngine 3 is looking pretty incredible, hopefully my build can run it maxed out. For multiplayer I have to go with Company of Heroes Online. Company of Heroes 1 and 2 were great, so can't wait to play online with up to 7 other people, with all the customization options, and of course, it being F2P. I'll be excited to see what happens with the new COD and MOH as well. DICE is doing the multiplayer for MOH, so that has me excited, and from everything I've read, sounds like this could be the best COD yet. What says you?
For me it's Final Fantasy XIV, which will be released September 22nd (Collector's Edition) and September 30th (Standard Edition). I played my first MMORPG when FFXI came out for the PS2 and played for around a year. It was of the same era as Everquest and other pre-WoW games so it was slightly hardcore and had issues, but overall it was a great game and had the Final Fantasy 'magic' for those who stayed around long enough to see it. Since quitting XI I've mainly played World of Warcraft off and on, and dabbled in Vanguard, Warhammer, Lord of the Rings Online, Wizard101, and Aion. There are things that worry me about XIV but there also a lot of things that have me excited. Could be great and could be another MMO that isn't that special, looking forward to trying it out though. I'm crossing my fingers that is the next MMO I waste much of my life on.
Crysis 2 (PS3) Ghost Recon Future Soldier (PS3) Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Fable 3 Halo Reach Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and of course Gran Turismo 5
After playing Final Fantasy XI it was hard for me to celebrate leveling up in City of Heroes and WoW. It was just too easy.
Ys Seven Metroid: Other M Valkyria Chronicles 2 Civilization V NBA Jam Max Payne 3 Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Medal of Honor Call of Duty: Black Ops Of course, I'm still addicted to Dragon Quest IX, so the gaming industry could collapse again and I wouldn't notice.
Same here - I really liked Grid and glad it will be similar engine. It's been a long time since theres been an F1 game so I should have moved it to the top of my list!
Just an FYI if you didn't know, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be a lot more sim-like than Grid was.
Definitely know what you mean. After playing XI in its early days it was funny to hear people in WoW talk about how hard it was to level or make money, I'm thinking if you only knew. That's part of what made FFXI great. A lot of things in XI, even just simply leveling, required a good amount of time and effort so you got a good sense of accomplishment and had things to work for. It also meant if you had a life you weren't going be real successful in the game though and you could get frustrated with the waiting, and after all these are just games. Hopefully XIV will be a little more time friendly while still keeping some things that require some time and a strong story.
Civ V is the only game I am looking forward too. Probably won't buy it until 2011 when I upgrade my computer
Sounds a lot like the original EverQuest. ****, screw the difficulty of money making and leveling...that was a given, the gameplay was ridiculous. You had to sit down and stare at a spell book to regain mana, so fights where you run out of mana would usually get pretty interesting. Not to mention there was absolutely no possible way to solo in the game outside of a few classes.
My wife recently bought me Crackdown 2. I played it for a couple hours last night. Seems fun, though I never played the original. That was a game that I was looking forward to. Castlevania: Lord of Shadows. If I had a PS3, it would be Gran Turismo 5. Which I may consider buying a PS3 for. I have the Forza games for XBOX360, which are great, but I'd love to try GT5 as well.
Halo Reach. the only new game I have bought in 2010 has been Red Dead Redemption. Halo Reach will keep me occupied for years to come, I can't wait.
Never tried Halo. Figured I'd suck too badly. Maybe I'll try Reach if it has a desent single-player campaign.
Halo 3 is very cheap used now and lots of fun with local multiplayer and online. It has unlimited replay value with the map creator and online play. Give it a shot!
Lvling in WoW isn't hard, its just long. End game content in WoW is very hard though. WoW is really 2 different games: Lvl 1 to lvl cap and endgame game stuff. Soooo, yeah, WoW: Cataclysm for me.
Pretty much, except I'd argue leveling isn't even long compared to other MMOs and with things like the heirloom items and recruit a friend bonuses. You hit cap and boom the game changes from super easy leveling to things requiring a brain that increase in difficulty. Whether it's Arena and climbing the ranks or doing hard modes, WoW isn't always super easy like some think. I figure if FFXIV isn't what I'm looking for I'll probably try out Cataclysm.
I'm in the Cata beta and its amazing so far, and that's mostly just playing with the new races and puttering around the reformed world. I'm not planning on leveling any beta characters because I don't want have to do it all over for the actual game lol, though the undersea zone, Vash'ir, looks awesome from the pics. I have to say, the Goblin starting area is absolutely hilarious and incredible, captures their essence so well. I mean, they even have some ridiculously good looking models having a gasoline fight. Not everyone will catch the reference, but it made me laugh hard. :P Can't wait for D3 though, that game will be just flat out incredible I think. Probably a year or so off though.
Very true, however, you won't have heirloom items without getting to 80 first. I've never played any other game (pc or console) that has the difficulty level of end game content in WoW.

New Vegas Medal of Honor Need for Speed. FYI for all those who can't wait to get brotherhood, if you are getting it for ps3, for preordering with GameStop you will get beta access, it starts on 13th. Ps3 exclusive tho.
