Tough decision for me to make, as a player and a leader of a team I would have to say Dan Marino. He always made the Dolphins a dangerous team even though he wasn't surrounded by a great team as some of the other great QBs. He elevated his team to the next level and pretty much carried the team on his back at times. As far as respecting a player as a good player and a great person I would have to say Pat Tillman. No other player has ever sacrificed more for his country.
Because you don't have to always like the best player on the team, and maybe he believes that Pat White is going to improve his game instead of needlessly bashing him.
everything he has done, or better yet, the lack of things done, since being in the NFL deserves it's proper bashing. he can only improve at this point...one hopes
Well next time you have trouble at work ill make sure to have someone come and bash all the things you did wrong, and not care how hard you try to get it right. Its a game. You can like a human being even if they have a horrible career or season.
A man after my own heart. There have been so many, but those two and Offerdahl for me. I understand that Offerdahl wouldn't be all team with many, but watching the NFL in the 80's like I did, I know he was everything that a team wanted. Add Stephenson to that list too as he was a percentage of why Dan was so good. IMO Stephenson was the best center to play the game, ever
He's an athlete on a public stage, if he can't handle the bashing then he definitely doesn't need to be out there...may as well hang up the cleets now...he gets paid to play that game, a great deal I might add...If my employer ever felt the need to pay me the same for a below average job, even if I tried "my best" (and my God, if that's White's best we've seen out there then he's royally screwed), I'd take the money and invite all the bashing in the world. but I digress...this is not a White debate thread...here's hoping he proves us bashers wrong this season!
Personally speaking, my favorite NFL (non-dolphin) player is Vernon Davis. I feel that he's improved tremendously over the years and it's awesome to see that transformation!! -Scout
1. Dan Marino 2.Bob Griese 3. Larry Csonka 4.Nat Moore 5.Zach Thomas 6.Aj Duhe 7. Mark Duper/ Mark Clayton 8.Jason Taylor 9.Ricky Williams 10.Irving Fryer
I agree with Stephenson but I don't think Jim Langer was too far behind Stephenson during his career. I also forgot Jim Jenson in my earlier post, he was the consumate team player, playing anywhere and everywhere he was asked to play without complaint. Truly Mr. Clutch IMHO.
for some reason i was a huge Billy Sims fan also. he was great to watch on the lions in his all too brief career
What a ridiculous statement. Players are here to play football. That is why if they suck they walk. (Except Crowder...god knows why he gets a pass). Player fans are the worst fans there are . Do you know how many people through the years tell me I don't really like the Dolphins I'm just a Marino fan. That is so worthless to me as a loyal follower of the team. You can go on liking horrible players if you like but not me. I am a fan of the Dolphins and I don't go around looking for nice guys. I want good football players to root for not worthless scrubs who suck.
This guy is one..... Warfield, Griese, Surtain, Zach, Stevenson, Anderson, Scot (the real #13) are all worthy
Marino would make my top 10 for sure, maybe I'd let him slip into the top 5 but I'd really have to think about who he'd replace.
Favorite active Dolphins: Brandon Marshall, Chad Henne Favorite active non-Dolphins: Calvin Johnson, Drew Brees Favorite Dolphin in history: Dan Marino Favorite non-Dolphin in history: Jerry Rice
