SAS reporting on WFAN NY (from RealGM Knicks board) that LBJ likely to sign 4 yeard deal with 3 year opt out, thus maintaining that Brooklyn escape hatch. However, Wade/Bosh are here for the long haul.

I'm fine with this, although the circus could come to town pretty quickly if things don't go as well as planned.

I need to do what every non-new england sports team fan does around here, that is make some money off this sheet, buy tickets and sell them on stubhub....thus burning your enemy....hmmmm...I wonder when the Heat come to Boston.....

I really like the sound/look of that line-up:

    PG - L. James/ M. Chalmers
    G - D. Wade / R. Bell
    SF - M. Miller / D. Wright
    PF - C. Bosh / U. Haslem / J. Vernado
    C - J. Anthony / D. Pittman

This is assuming they exercise their bird rights for Haslem and Wright.

I guess I'm fine with that. I'd prefer five years, but 3 or 4 is better than zero.

If he wins titles here, though, I'm not sure why he'd want to leave.

    More Ira updates:

If Heat can't make the Beasley trade for cap space, or Miller otherwise turns them down, they apparently have a straight up trade on the table with Philly

    Beasley for Kapono

In college basketball it still matters, but I agree with you about it mattering much less in the pro basketball game.

Agreed. College basketball is different animal. Guys are less talented, and therefore rely much more on scheme and cohesion. In the NBA, guys can overcome those things with talent. It's why the original Dream Team was so great. Talent trumps all IMO.

While not the all around player Miller is, Kapono would be wide open on this team and would hit 40% plus from 3.

That ups the urgency on an already high pressure situation. That's why I thought LBJ coming here took the most courage on his part. I didn't think he had that in him. It's not official yet but it seems he is going to prove me wrong about him.

They have to win one championship in three years to avoid the "super friends" (my favorite) being a failure. They need to win two championships in three years to meet expectations. Three in three is possible but injuries, luck and a few other really good teams will have a say.

BTW I also like "cerberus" if you want to paint a more malevolent image.

    Awesome.

Although you'll never get a response. I once sent him an email basically asking (in a nice way) what his problem with Miami was. Nada in return

I get what Riley is going for, he wants a shooter. And so I can see wanting Miller for Beasley; Miller is good for 11 pts and he's a decent rebounder.

But Beasley is good for 14 a night and his rebounding numbers are as good as Miller's...not to mention his overall game is FAR better than Kapono's - and that's in VERY limited minutes, and Beasley hasn't even grown up yet.

That said, I would do the trade for Miller because I get what Riley wants; but Kapono?

Love the email...only problem is Simmons is not a columnist, he's a blogger. He actually gets paid to do what you're criticizing him for. The more people get pissed, the more page views he gets, the more ad revenue ESPN makes off the site traffic.

Our old friend Sid over at 560 did the same thing...TO US! Bastard...but I digress. Simmons is a tool, and he knows it. But the only difference between him and the majority of fans is that he gets a check deposited in his bank account for it.

Won't, and shouldn't stop us from busting his balls though :shifty:

Ahh, more wonderful, soul nourishing hate and jealousy.

Oh LBJ, Michael would never make a public spectacle of himself. Although I'd enjoy seeing you in Miami for the perverse pelasure of watching you fail like the Dominique, Moses Malone and Reggie Theus Hawks of the early 80's (Smith seriously makes this comparison, it was not a joke)

That MJ stuff really pisses me off. Why does LeBron have to be like MJ? The one reason I don't like Kobe is because he's just an MJ wannabe. LeBron is his own man, and does what he feels is right. He doesn't do what MJ would do. I respect that a hell of a lot more than I respect how Kobe goes about things.

If anything, going on national TV for an hour isn't what Jordan would do. Jordan would never face the music. He'd release a statement and not be seen or heard from.

Which means that ESPN endorses Miami bashing, or are relegated to National Enquirer status.. The same ESPN that has had a Lebron ticker for months, with Lebron dressed in a Bulls / Knick uniform.

Well now these *****es can bow down to King Riley and go screw themselves... Sorry Lebron couldn't make their collective wet dream happen.

How are they endorsing Miami bashing? They're endorsing revenue. If people want to read Miami bashing, then so be it. If they don't, then Simmons wouldn't be on the front page. It is what it is. ESPN isn't going to put one of their most popular columnists on the back page because he's biased. ESPN's goal isn't to be fair, its to make money.

Man I'm angry today.. I feel like the media is conspiring in a last ditch effort to lure Lebron from Miami.. The reporters on ESPN this morning looked like they were reporting from Iraq after being shellshocked...

I hope all this stress pays off at 9:10PM.. I'm not even hoping anymore. I'm praying.

Hilarious Isola tweet on the report the Knicks had Isiah Thomas meet with LBJ last week.

Theres a thread on RealGM talking about who the "ring chasers" would be if the Trynasty really forms. Of course, the point of the thread was to say we can only sign scrubs and will suck and not make the playoffs and eventually concede from the NBA and have to move to the DLeague... but a Laker fan actually put together a really good post/list of who might be some options...

Endorsing revenue? How about copy and pasting the Heat uniform over Lebron like they did for Chicago and New York when they were licking his nutsac? How about following through with all the hype that THEY are responsible for creating when they started pushing the idea that Lebron was a goner years ago?

Instead, they don't get their way and all of a sudden Lebron is a traitor, a loser and Miami is doomed with a poor fanbase and a scrub roster. Screw them. They may get higher ratings in the short term, but their obvious bias and sore loser mentality will ultimately cause them to lose revenue when everyone else figures out how shoddy they are.

It also isnt the job of a columnist who's paid to write his opinions to be unbiased. He isnt supposed to simply report facts, people want to read his opinions...to get mad about it would be like getting mad at water being wet.

Sadly, ESPN more or less caters to casual sports fans, and so they've pretty much monopolized an audience for life. The average ESPN viewer probably thinks yelling boom-shaka-laka over dunk highlight reels is hilarious and engaging.

The ESPN headline that ran today showed Lebron possibly heading to Miami. Right below it was a link to Simmons. Not a link that said "opinon". His opinion piece was reported like it was breaking news.
There is a reason why OP-Ed pieces are at the back of the newspaper.. In this case it is right in front.

More hilarity, this from a poster on the Bulls board at RealGm

If he leaves Cleveland I kinda feel bad for Brian Windhorst. He has followed this guy since high school, and has really been treated like crap by LBJ.

If I was a Cavs fan.. I would be even more furious.. For years they have pumping Lebron to NYC.. Then they jumped all over Chicago.. Once they hear the word Miami, they then turned on him and everything they have been screaming for years? They helped drive this, and now that it is not going their way, they are suddenly sad for Cleveland? LOL

FWIW The boys at NFLN (Michael Lombardi and Charles Davis) predict James to Miami... then I heard that if he ends up in Chicago, Obama is going to call 7/8 a national holiday.
