You said: "And if you dont think the physical aspects of what Amare brings being a much more imposing player are important think again. Basketball is a game of opposing your will on your opponent it is almost all about the physical aspects." Amare doesn't do that. At least not consistently enough to ascribe that aspect to his game. Boik, this has nothing to do with my view of NYC as an over-glorified rat nest. I simply take issue with your description of Amare, namely this: "Amare is a dominant offensive player who from 10 feet in is going to impose his will and be virtually unstoppable." Amare is not "virtually unstoppable." He's quite stoppable. Everyone is stoppable somehow. That's why even the best players need help.
Defensively no he most certainly does not impose his will. offensively, he does without question. almost 1/3 of his points are on dunk or layups. You can only get so many of those off of bad transition defense. I know everyone is stoppable somehow...that's why I slid the virtually in there. For the record I did pre order my amare jersey. in non knicks news dumars denies interest in the nets vacant gm spot.
Calling Bynum a cripple is probably a tad harsh at this point. The kid showed a ton of heart and desire playing in every playoff game with the injuries he suffered. He earned his Laker stripes with the defense and rebounding he was able to do throughout. Artest's offensive game is/was...offensive, but he didn't need to be a screr on the Lakers. His defense was pretty damned good in the finals and he hit some crucial shots in Game 7 that, if they clank out, the Lakers lose. But yes, the Lakers should show some decline going into next year, although I think Jackson claiming this to be his last stand is as good as a rallying point as any. They will put it on cruise control until the playoffs. I expect to see the team's identity start to change more into Pau's team during the scond half of next year, especially if Kobe doesn't give himself any time off. As for the Sloan/Larry Miller stuff. I don't think Sloan is going to be asking Larry Miller for anything considering he died last year. No truth to the reports of Boozer signing with the Bulls?
Could have sworn he was.... also according to Chad ford Orlando just signed Chris Duhon for 4/15M. Duhon is a very good passer and a good backup but he cant shoot a lick.
He's a FA in 2012. And, poop. He's not that bad of a player. He's a decent 3 point shooter(career 36%), can play defense, and like you said pass. But I would have prefered a scorer off the bench.
http://nba-facts-and-rumors.blogs.c...3014584?tag=coverlist_active;coverlist_footer Pretty good piece on bosh vs amare defensively. It's a lot different then what I had anticipated.
I appreciate you posting that Boik..for two reason....first of all..it is a contribution for discussion. Second of all...we can all print it out if we ran out of toilet paper. There is a reason...Wade and a bunch of "clowns" were the #1 defense in the NBA. There is a reason mediocre Charlotte was right there with them. it is called a "system". Larry Brown and Pat Riley.
system definitely plays a huge role but this examines the players within a system. To me that's just as important. You can have a poor system for playoff success but there could be a specific player or two who makes it worse then it really is.
Does spike lee know something: http://offthedribble.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/07/06/can-the-knicks-stars-draw-more-stars/?src=tptw One can only hope if you're a knicks fan
I would do that trade in a heartbeat, seeing as one of the future picks we would give them would be there own
Twitter brevity raises its dangerous head once again. There is no trade between Mia + Tor. Sorry for any confusion/raised blood pressure-Ric Bucher's Twitter.
Evan Turner looking good. Mullens looking like he is going to live up to his potential. Harangody had a strong game fort he C's. Paul George is the biggest disappointment so far.
Out of free agent PG's Amare wants Ridnour:http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wi...00707/source_amare_wants_ridnour_in_new_york/ Amare and Carmelo pushing NYK to Lebron:http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wi..._in_contact_with_amare_carmelo_tuesday_night/
Okay. Wade, Bosh, Amare, Johnson, Gay, and Dirk are off the market. Atlanta, Memphis, and Dallas retain their guys. Amare to NYK, Wade and Bosh combine forces in MIA. LeBron will more likely than not stay in Cleveland. If Carmelo Anthony joins the Knicks as expected next year, we're looking at an Eastern Conference that has Cleveland versus Orlando versus Miami versus New York. Those are the top four seeds through 2015 in one configuration or another. In the Western Conference, you've got the Lakers on top for now, with Portland and OKC on the rise. Folks, the NBA is about to get vicious.
according to chad johnson's twitter: http://twitter.com/ogochocinco #OCNNBREAKINGNEWS *Empire State of Mind* *wink* *wink*only the smart folk will put this together and figure out what i am talking about #6
he can have a terrible tarck record all he wants as long as he is right this one time. Lebron to NYK; make it happen chad!
If I were you, I'd forget that LeBron exists unless and until he puts a Knicks cap on. Until then, focus on Carmelo Anthony in 2011.
Lebron decision tomorrow coming from connecticut, less then an hour from NYC and near the NYK practice facility:http://www.newsday.com/sports/baske...make-announcement-in-greenwich-conn-1.2086121 Jered Dudley's twitter says lebron coming to NYK: http://twitter.com/JaredDudley619 Breaking News!!! My sources tell me Lebron will announce that he will be goin to the NY KNICKS tomorrow on ESPN.. This is serious.. WOW!!!!
Even so, it would make sense for ESPN to have him there though. I say LeBron go somewhere into the mountains and do his video announcement in a cave. Perhaps wearing camouflage so as to not have been spotted getting there. Maybe wearing some sort of head-dress as well, again, for the incognito factor (he is a tall dude after all). Might want to take a gun or rifle of some sort and keep it handy to keep the mountain lions and other hungry baddies at bay. Suppose it would look weird though.
Needs a dialysis machine off to the side to emphasize the strain LeBron put himself under when trying to decide on a team.
Actually daily news beat writer frank isola is tweeting that the decision may actually be coming from Allan Houston's house in connecticut. *fap fap fap* also to give you an idea on how crazy things are if you listen to NY radio or TV (which I know you dont desides ): Huge spike in call options being bought for MSG. Also a lot of high strike price puts. Lebron is looking likely to head to NY with all this money being invested in MSG. MSG stock up 4.88% today right now. I swear every knicks fan may jump tomorrow if he doesnt choose new york lol....
I wouldn't say its looking likely, but many people are trying to capitalize. If any of those traders knew for a fact he was going to NY, then it would have been leaked by now.
Heat fan in me obviously wants to see LeBron James in Miami or staying in Cleveland. Basketball fan in me wants to see a Wade/Bosh-LBJ/Amare rivalry in old fashion Heat/Knicks style. Just don't sign with Chicago, LeBron....
Really, you hate me that much? Not sure what to make of it, I know I invested in msg weeks ago and have made some $$$ off it. Cant say Im not guilty lol... Ive said this for a while now...unless he wants a lot of 3rd and fourth place finishes behind the heat and magic the next few years he better find a team with a legit 2nd and 3rd option. No other team is in better position then NY except maybe the Heat but then you have to wonder if Lebron's ego will let him be the 2nd guy on a team...and my instinct says no to that.
I'm really a neutral fan when it comes to NBA. But as a basketball fan, I really want to see LeBron in a D'Antoni offense. Also defensively, if someone wants to run on a LeBron team, they better watch their back on fastbreaks.
I am selfish about this..I want him (LBJ) here of course....and Cleveland will be a good destination for him to make it easy on the Heat. But the prospect of Wade/Bosh bashing Bron/Amare's brains in every single year is just too delicious.
Nah... they'll hold on to their Melo binkies, until realizing that Melo is pretty close to signing that 3 year extension with Denver. (Inexplicably.) LeBron in Houston's basement will be delicious if he doesn't go to the Knicks.
Lebron in the D'antoni offense would average a triple double 30-10-10 every night. Could be very entertaining if it happens Have you paid attention at all the last six months 9PM on espn...its an hour long show and hasnt given a time.
