You don't think there have been major free agency talk for the last two years? And that every second of that talk revolved around Bron going to NY?

You're taking the whole "GM" thing way too literally. The bold part proves my point.

ESPN is nothing more than the sock puppet of the NY media. I mean, look no further than Mike&Mike.

If he wants his legacy, he wins a championship, multiple ones at that....does Cleveland offer the best place for Bron to do it?? At 25 he will be entering his prime, and this contract will be his prime years to do so...kinda crazy to have to think in what a day or so, to choose the best best to go for the next several years that gives you the best odds of winning it all.....obvioulsy that is Miami(unfortunately I see LBJ's ego getting in the way, too bad too it would be fun to watch).....

Miami fans should get the sig ready of the "New Big 3" and rub it in Celtics fans faces.....

    Wade has signed players outright.

He brought Quentin Richardson here. Dorell Wright miraculously got extended when he was worthless. Luther Head showed up here on Wade's whim.

Ok I don't want to troll the Heat board talking about the Cavs - sorry for that.

I will just offer this about the Cavs in relation to what they offer compared to the Heat -

LeBron means a lot more to Cleveland than any other city. Without LeBron we lose millions - and that isn't money we are getting back. We are talking about MAJOR jobs lost - not only at the Cavs but at downtown restaurants, newspapers, etc. This city has nothing other than sports teams - and our other teams are the Indians and Browns so they barely count.

Our owners is opening a casino (which were illegal until he founded a campaign to change) across the street from the Cavs arena.

So the city AND the owner are completely invested in LeBron staying. This is a LOT more than basketball in this town. So before you discount what the Cavs are able to offer LeBron - remember that there are probably some ridiculous promises / proposals going on behind closed doors.

We don't have Riley's voodoo magic or Wade and Bosh - but don't think what we are offering behind closed doors isn't enticing to LeBron. If he stays, I am sure he is going to own this city.

Theres nothing that leads me to believe that LBJ monopolized the decision making process. I highly doubt he is the one making draft decisions. Wouldn't make sense, considering Ferry stuck around for so long. Again, I'm sure he's consulted, and when he says "we need a center", they probably go try to get one. But I'm not buying that LeBron was the one who wanted to trade for Varejao. He may have told Ferry that Drew Gooden sucks, but thats about the extent of his input.

The whole concept that "James' rings in Miami will be less valuable because his team was stacked with Wade and Bosh and therefore James' legacy will be diminished" is the most stupid crap I've heard in a long while.

Wade convinced Head to sign with Miami, but he surely didn't do it without Riley's willingness. Head was a no-brainer anyways, he just needed to be convinced.

Fo' Rizzite. Similar to the whole Phil Jackson / Pat Riley as overrated coaches arguments. Just silly, really.

If you helped get a championship, no one can take it away.

So you're saying if LeBron wins 6 rings in Miami, he'll be the GOAT? Because if he wins 6 rings in Cleveland, he surely will have to be strongly considered as such.

I get that bro, but in 25 years, nobody will remember the City of Cleveland was struggling in the year 2010, like every other city in America, what they will remember is that LBJ, was like every other athlete, took the money and went to a team that got him championships, if he doesnt he will be looked at as Marino, great but never the best because of the lack of the ring....

Can he afford that, giving this massive aura/persona/empire he has built for himself....??

It has always amazmed me how much he means to that city in terms other then just winning games. You have to wonder though, ego or no, if that doesn't bother him a little too, I mean people are talking about how it's morally wrong if he leaves and that seems a touch crazy to me.

and all of those guys just happened to be Chicago home boys with Wade.

The telling one is Dorrel Wright.

Wright is a good rotation player now...NOW. But when he last got extended...he was worthless. His only claim to fame was that he was Dwyane Wade's best friend. (Smart move by D. Wright)

It is also a reflection of the media bias against Miami and for, say Chicago.. I haven't heard them say that about a Lebron / Bosh / Noah / Rose combo, which as of now sounds nearly equal to the big three Miami scenario..

Screw the pundits.. If we become an uber-championship team, people will remember us as one of the greatest dynasties of all time, not diminish Lebron..

As soon as Lebron turns us down...I sign Udonis and Dorrel immediately...then do the Portland Deal...and sign Mike Miller or Kyle Korver.....offer Raja Bell the minimum...and call it an offseason.

I wouldnt be surprise if behind closed doors Dan Gilbert offered LBJ a piece of ownership of the Cavs franchise after he retires.

I don't think Chicago is as realistic an option, because Rose and LeBron dominate the ball too much. Plus I don't see that team having any shooters good enough to take advantage of LBJ/Rose/Bosh.

I think right now I'd say the LeBron race is at:

    Cle- 60%
    NYK- 30%
    MIA- 9%
    CHI- 1%

I'd put Miami higher, but too many people from ESPN hyping it up now.

I think the Knicks are a possibility, because they do have Amare now, and they also will have some flexibility going forward in terms of cap space.

But I still think Cleveland is the leader, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear about a sign-and-trade bringing some talent to Cleveland during the hour long special tomorrow.

And what is stopping the Heat from making the same offer? Mickey has already proven that he takes care of his people.. Look at Riley.. Look at Zo. Look at how the Heat treats their employees.

    No.

    Too expensive IMO.

we don;t want to clog the lane either. we need defense and rebounding at that spot now..Joel Anthony is a fine option at a bargain basement price.

Agreed 100%. The question becomes, can LBJ put his dream of [potentially] being regarded as GOAT and ego aside and just be regarded as [potentially] a contributor to a dynasty.

I'm sure after hanging it up, Robert Horry felt just as good as Michael Jordan did when he decided to call it a career. Note: Not saying Horry was anywhere near the player Jordan was, all I'm getting at is the hardware is all that should matter.

Would you guys want Derek Fisher and then lock him in a glass box that reads..."Break in case of NBA Finals berth."

You know my opinion. He sucks...but he has a knack for tearing hearts out of chests.

NOW...as a backup? HELL YES. as a starter? PASS. and yes I know he started for the b2b NBA champs.

I'd probably take Fish as a 3rd option at the point. Though if he's going to take the vet's minimum, I figure he's going to do it in LA IMO.
