If he is done, good riddance.

Just in case he gets hit with a litany of lawsuits, I have a suggestion for a settlement. We have a lot of Ethiopian immigrants here in Israel. Maybe he can clean the toilets at Ethiopian cultural centers. That way he can make up for racist/anti-Semitic comments at the same time.

Mel is still one of my favorite actors of all time...his personal life should be just that...personal

We all have our own skeletons...no need to judge others

I felt the same way about Tiger and his whore mongering

The problem is that as a celebrity, he has the power to influence. A lot of young people identify with his Road Warrior persona, since it's such a bad***.

My point is that what he said was meant to be private, his ex leaked it to the media...granted it wasn't a smart thing to do, but it's not something he put out there to influence anyone in the public...in the end she got what she wanted...but he obviously needs to be smarter, get help if needed for anger, and control himself.

I'm pretty good at compartmentalizing so I can respect him for the things he's done as an actor while still disliking the man. As for the personal nature of the comments, that's the price of celebrity. You get huge amounts of money and fame, but it costs you a certain amount of privacy. And IMO when you act like a jerk enough times, odds are that the people who know you or of you will find out you're a jerk. Many people at least know of Mel Gibson so many people finding out he's a jerk seems like the natural consequence of his actions. I can't say I'm feeling any sympathy for his current situation.

My brother Isaac was riding by the freeway when Mel Gibson was having his meltdown in LA. So, yeah, I feel a little privileged...the road warrior will live forever.

I can find a little for him. Obviously don't condone the racist remark but I can understand the angst and misery he may be feeling in his current situation. He needs to reign in his ego and seek some spiritual guidance imo.

In his case religion may be part of the problem. I'm not saying religion is bad. I'm saying that anything can be good or bad depending on how you choose to use it. It seems to me that in Mel's case he's focused on the idea that some people are better than others. That to me is really the root of all evil. Unfortunately too many religions characterize their followers as somehow being closer to God than others or somehow special. IMO the idea that any group is better than another is what is behind the majority of the atrocities that human beings have inflicted on each other throughout history. I agree that he needs to reign in his ego, but it seems to me that his religious rebirth has been counter productive to that end.

Which is why there are two things I will never be in my life: celebrity or politician. The latter because the last thing I need to deal with is half the country hating you.

I get that there's a distinction and IMO there's a world of difference between true "spiritual guidance" and what most religions actually offer. It just seems to me that Mel looks for his spiritual guidance only in religion and that it hasn't had a positive effect on the kind of person he has become compared to the reports of the kind of person he allegedly was prior to being reborn.

I'm a fan of his work, not the man himself...I of course disagree with what he has done, but it is not for me to judge him as a man. That job is for the big guy upstairs...if he were a pedophile and or murderer it still would not have an effect on how I view his work, but of course, if proven true, I would in fact lose much respect for the man. and feel he should pay the price just as anyone would for his wrong doings. I have enough to worry about in my own life then to start pointing fingers at others.

If he or any actor was a pedophile, that would blind me for life. I wouldn't be able to separate those crimes from any of the movies/shows he might have been in.

"He's a great actor. He touches boys in their privates but he sure knows how to smoke a fake joint on screen!"

He's washed up now. He has been going down hill fast with all this crazy talking. I can't see anyone making another great film with him. He would have to do it all by himself if he wanted to, and even then, I don't know who would pay to see it.

you know..i've listened to about 20 minutes of his rants on stern. and honestly...what happened to his accent? He's not Australian anymore?

There are allegations that the tapes are phony, and its not him. And now that I think about it, it sounds like Martin Riggs(American), not Mel Gibson(Aussie).

This whole thing is fishy to me. Married for decades, leaves her for another woman, and we don't hear a peep about any abuse she suffered. His new lady holds onto tapes for months and allegedly blackmails him before going to the police.

It's weird situation, and I would be surprised to hear that they get of talking freaky to eachother. It's just weird...
