It's not that they aren't attracting inner city youth, it is that there is no mechanism to ensure development academies are seeking out these poorer youths. This gets back to the whole pay-to-play issues still plaguing American Soccer. It should be known that NYC and surrounding area is one of the greatest untapped markets for great soccer players in the world. I am amazed the big European clubs haven't noticed this and attempted to get a foothold in that area.
Here here, well done, this just tells me that more than soccer fans were watching it....good for the game, and good for everyone.....48% higher than 2006....wow... http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-...atched-u-s-men-s-soccer-match-in-history.html
I'm proud of my boys!, you can't make those mistakes against Argentina, Carlos Salcido had a great game. Good luck to Argentina Brazil and Uruguay. By the way lol @ Heinze!!
I saw that when it happened, and said to myself what a douche, I didnt realize he blasted into the camera hahah
The funny thin is that douche was flopping and grabbing his head all game. If that amount of contact happened in the game he'd of been brought out on a stretcher after rolling on the ground 13 times.
You guys saw the atmosphere in Philly for the opening of their new park? They beat Seattle 3-1 BTW. That stadium was rockin' and rollin'. BTW, the Philadelphia Union Logo is bad ***.
It's good to see the new stadiums being built for the MLS, shows good capital is in the mix. For the further development of the MLS, you take the named players, Donovan, Dempsey, Howard etc and keep them here at this stage of their careers. I think sub 28 to 30 years of age, you sell them off overseas for the cash. But once they get passed that age, you bring them back to make the league much more marketable. It's up to the MLS teams to bring the youngsters into development teams, nurture, and then sell them off once they've accomplished something. Then you start churning the inventory, like a factory. That's the formula... the interest is here, the kids in the AYSO leagues are turning out in droves. Both my kids (4 and 6) will be on teams in September and as long as they are enjoying themselves, I'll support them playing everyday as it potentially could be their ticket to college.
Problems with $$$$$$$ The Fusion was doing fine and was horribly run. They need somebody with a couple of bucks in their pockets. Where FIU plays ball is perfect for a soccer stadium. That field is even set for a FIFA regulation soccer field.
With the exception of Germany and possibly Spain ,Europe has not had a good showing .On the other hand all 5 of the South american sides are in the final 16. Chile was second after Brazil in the South American classification ...they beat Argentina ..and unfortunately for them they have to play Brazil with their best two midfielders Medel and Ponce out. Should be a win for Brazil . Regardless I am betting a South American side will ultimately win the cup as it has historically done so every time the cup has been played outside of Europe.
Neuer's actually pretty decent. The goal looks like a gaffe on first glance but if you take a closer look he's the only German who comes close to defending it. There's little you can do as a goalkeeper when you see that there's a striker all by himself just outside the six yard box other than making yourself large right in front of him. You'll look stupid if he scores but it's actually good goalkeeping. Speaking of which, when will England finally learn that you'll never win a Cup with the likes of Calamity James? Yeah, they played poorly and yeah, they did get jobbed on Wembley Redux but the simple truth is: Any decent goalkeeper will save the first three German goals.
And thats that. Slovakia came back into it there in the 2nd half and could have scored, but that 2nd by Snejider wraps it up for the Dutch.
I love the attacking style of football Chile is playing and thank goodness the ref has kept the cards in his pocket.Good match so far .
Chile has them tactically...so far... Either Chile makes a mistake....or Dunga is going to have to switch things up. Chile is crowding the midfield.
Oh 100% you were Joch. But like you say, 2-2 after 2 goals in 58 seconds puts a different complexion on the game.
and there you have it. another mistake. GOAL. Forget it guys...everybody is playing for second place. Brazil is just too good. They were being beaten tactically and on the field as well.
The second goal was an obvious offside....not called .You could see the defense relax as they were sure it was going to be called
It was well onside and brilliantly done by the linesman. When the ball was played, Fabiano was CLEARLY onside.
That is why I laugh at all the talk of WHO is the favorite in 2014. get real...Brazil will be at home...with a better team than you see here today. A win vs. Brazil in Brazil in 2014 will be the equivalent of winning the world cup.
When Kaka plays the ball, the right sided Chilean centre back CLEARLY has his feet inside the area and Fabiano is standing half a foot out of it. Darren Can't the linesman is standing EXACTLY in line with the last man. That's great stuff by the lino.
The Way the Netherlands played today...they don;t stand a chance vs. Brazil. The Netherlands allowed alot of good "starts" to counters... They allow Brazil that much space...good god. Brazil was possibly outplayed for 35 of the 45 minutes today...yet they lead 2-0. DEMORALIZING.
Brazil-Spain is going to be a terrific game when it comes to it. You have arguably the two best centre halves in the tournament in Lucio and Pique, you have two of the worlds best two strikers in Torres and Villa, two great keepers, world's best right back in Maicon, best midfield in the tournament with Alonso, Iniesta, Xavi and Navas with Busquets and Javi Martinez and Fabregas on the bench.
