Pretty telling picture here. Left side: iPhone 3GS. Right side: iPhone 4. From Engadget's iPhone 4 review. Also from the same review, a nice little snippet:
38 ****ing hours!!!! 38!! I use my phone for gaming and email and text and browsing and I'll get a few hours before it is cooked. If I forget to plug the phone in overnight I'm screwed the next day. Damn, I have to wait SO damn long to get one without paying full price!
well, i can finally take my brick of an otterbox case off my 3GS as I no longer have to live in fear of a $600 replacement.
I don't get mine until mid-July. I hope that Apple goes on a manufacturing binge and I get it before that... But I wont bet on it. Uhg
The Incredible was a pre-order and its still on backorder...until July 20. Pretty incredible since the phone came out in late april and hasnt been in the store since.
My iPhone 4 has arrived. Gentlemen, this is not merely a phone, it is a device sent from the future to guide our wayward civilization onto the path of true advancement. ... Okay, it really is just a phone, but it's a damn sturdy and solidly constructed phone. Makes my 3GS feel like a toy.
Make a 2 min overview of the 3Gs and then make an overview of the 4 (with the 3Gs) so we can compare vid quality
Someone else already did that. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWtzp2N-GOU"]Video taken on iPhone 4[/ame]
you Mfers..I was perfectly happy with my 3Gs now after reading this thread suddenly I'm not...O well I4 here I come.
I hear you. Before these crack peddlers got a hold of me I was one of those “I’ll never buy one of Apples trendy toys for sheep” types. Now I’m jonesin for an iphone4 that I won’t be able to get for who knows how long. My god I’ve been assimilated. Going to go eat some grass in the yard now…

HOLY ****!!! Dude, that is insane. That video was taken with a damn phone. I maximized it on the 21.5" iMac and the picture quality is crystal ****ing clear. Must. Resist. Full. Price.
LOL! My girl just read this thread over my shoulder and gave me the "look". You know the one, where you know that if you do it you won't be getting any for a while. Hell, with the picture quality and that app Mor just posted I won't need a woman!!! MUAHAHAHAHAAHAH!!!!
Rumors and reports going crazy about the iPhone4 losing reception if you hold it by the side bars. Supposedly, your fingers short out the antenna (which is the side bar...). Not sure how else to hold it.... http://gizmodo.com/5571171/iphone-4-loses-reception-when-you-hold-it-by-the-antenna-band
After not being able to order online & at an ATT store. I thought I was the luckiest guy in the world by going to Best Buy & leaving 5 mins later with my pre-order. Weds come & I get a call from BB telling me they only got 2 32s in & I was #4 in line. They'll call me when they get some in. I decided to drive a hr to richmod, va apple store to try my luck. I have been in line since 651am & the walk-in is shorter than the reserve line. 5mins after 7am, an apple employee tells all of us they are sold out of both models. We can wait in line & sign-up to get on their priority list. Once they get in new ones,'they'll email us & give us 24hrs to pick it up. I'm near where they are taking info for the priority list.
Walt Mossberg mentioned this in his review and talked to Apple about it. They claim it's a known bug related to how iOS 4 displays signal strength, since the new hardware actively changes frequency to less congested bands, and not actually a reception or antenna issue. I can replicate the signal bar manipulation, but I don't think it actually affects the signal at all. The amusing part is the conspiracy theory that Apple noticed this too late in the development cycle to fix it, so they came up with the bumper case to prevent direct contact with the antenna.
