Good to see him studying, since that was the knock on him last season if memory serves correctly, he was a slow learner? And how in the sam hell did he get hurt while not playing for us?! http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...-turner-dolphins-0620-20100618,0,768973.story
Turner only had two knocks on him last year that I am aware of. One he had trouble with press coverage and two he doesn't play special teams. The combination of the two made it hard to justify a spot on the game day roster. I never read anywhere that he had trouble picking up the system or that he was a slow learner.
This is sort of like saying the knock on a quarterback is poor decision making and bad throwing: that's sort of the entirety of his damn job. It's a shame Turner isn't working out, big receivers are godsends in the red zone. If Turner were even partially competent, putting him on the opposite side of the field from Marshall would have given Henne a lot to work with. Maybe we'll still see it.
There was another thread with the same article that stressed that Brandon Marshall has taken Turner under his wing and is helping Turner. That may be the only hope this youngster has, hope Marshall can help, imagine if Turner turned into another Marshall in a year or two, wow we would be unstoppable!
I remember reading an article about turner that coming out of college, he was known as a slow learner, not dumb, but slow. Maybe I'm making things up...
Hmm, its been a while so maybe you're right and I just don't remember it. I do remember all the questions that Sparano had to answer on the subject and they all seemed to revolve around special teams play and bump coverage.
I hope he does turn into a good player; just imagine Turner and Marshall as bookend Receivers, both performing well.
Oh those USC receivers. I wanted this kid bad coming out of high school. He chose the Trojans instead of my beloved Canes. I still hope he can turn into a player but judging how USC has developed these guys in recent years - I'm not holding my breath.
Sparano mentioned that PT was up to speed on the offense via "Mental Reps". Hmm, not sure I buy that one, but I do think PT spending time with BMarsh will benefit him tremendously. We'll see, Turner's natural competition is Greg Camarillo. But here is a little nugget: From Rosenhaus's usual weekly spot on Miami Area TV..hmm..."unless they add TO..." And have to love this from BMarsh: Hopefully BMarshall can help Turner out..and I agree with BMarsh on Ginn being a good match across from him.
Patrick Turner has reached the "show me" level with me. Until he does something to get excited about on the field in a live game I don't want to hear it.
I think you're referring to Pete Carrol's comment about Turner taking a while to feel comfortable, but that when he does he takes over and dominates. It was a blurb that came out a couple months ago (damn, I'm a geek).
This is just a theory of mine: http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/tailbone-coccyx-injury Coccydynia Basically a bad sprain of the tail-bone causing discomfort and lower-back pain. ...from sitting on the bench for as long as he had last year.
if patrick turner wasn't such a failure, we probably wouldn't have Brandon Marshall today. So in a way, his failure (and that other guy) has brought us a #1 WR.
yeah and most WRs coming out of college have problems learning how to beat press coverage since they never face it in college. In college the guys big skill was he was a terror on the sidelines. He owned them. Dont remember him being that useful in the middle of the field however. He did have trouble with seperation but he seemed to run decent routes near the sideline IIRC
Kid can play in traffic Prez, makes himself small when he needs to, and seemed to have good concentration when going over the middle... I got him making the team.
What we know about Patrick Turner: - If he was a total bust the regime would have cut him by now. What we don't know about Patrick Turner - If he is good enough to be a contributor in the NFL.
hasn't had the opportunity to show anything. he has RedZone & TE potential, the team needs both. he will step up or out
