I was referring to Pagan's post about the contracts of Ferguson, Mangold, and Harris.

Revis is definitely not worth $15M a year. They'd be better off making an example of him...

So I'll say I hope they sign him and pay him $15M a year :shifty:

This is Rex Ryan's fault. He stroked Revis' ego way too hard last season. You dont go around crying, he's the best this, or best that. Look where it got ya, he's crying for more money and dogging it in practice.

Rex, keep it up about your best team, best o-line and best defense. You are burying your front office, and the rest of the Afc East is reaping the benefits.

And for the old time, "you already make so much, shut up and play" argument. In life, you go out and get what you're worth. You get what you can. Guys like Revis and Marshall aren't going to be satisfied with non top 10 pick rookie contracts, when they evolve into top 10 NFL talent. its not about shutting up and being happy with a few million. its about getting your fair market value, getting what you can when you're better than the guy next to you, but making less.

I don't know. As much as I hate the Jets I still feel he is the best in the game at his position. He's also the key to what the jets do on defense. Pay-da-man!

Disagree on the "it's Rex's fault" part. If anyone other than Revis is to be blamed, it could be the front office. Revis CLAIMED that the FO came to him after the playoff run telling him he'd be taken care of. This is kind-of speculation, so make of it what you will. The point is, Darrelle Revis doesn't need Rex Ryan's approval to know that he's the best. Almost every football analyst I've seen has dubbed him as hands down the best.

Agree on your last paragraph. Darrelle is that good of a player and I think he deserves to be paid as such. For his sake, I hope he makes as much as he can get. As a fan of the Jets, I hope he can sign for something reasonable, as in $10-12 million a year with a good chunk guaranteed, over a long period of time.

Bump....me thinks the 30 milly in guarnteed moo-laa just handed out pissed off the Revis....this aint going away fellas.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

Manish Mehta reports that CB Derrelle Revis will sit out training camp until a new deal with the Jets is worked out.

If Revis' holdout lasts beyond August 10, he will cost himself an accrued year of free agency by violating the "30-day rule". Entering the fourth year of his six-year rookie deal, Revis is one of the preeminent defensive backs in the game, and is seeking around $15-16 million per year in addition to guaranteed money in the eight-figure range. After the Jets just signed LT D'Brickashaw Ferguson to a six-year/$60 million extension, owner Woody Johnson will need to again pony up to get his shutdown cornerback on the field.

Though he's not yet made a final decision, Darrelle Revis is reportedly "leaning heavily" toward holding out if the Jets continue to "ignore" his contract issue.

Asked if Revis would play under his existing contract, a source close to the All Pro responded, "That's not going to happen." The same source also cautioned against the Jets calling Revis' bluff. He'll be subjected to $16,000-per-day fines for skipping camp, and the Jets seem content to let him make the next move.

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that a the Jets may ultimately sign Darrelle Revis to a relatively short-term contract in the vicinity of $30 million over three seasons.

The sides began talking within the last 24 hours. $10 million a year would be well off Nnamdi Asomugha's $15 million annual average, so Revis might not be as open to the idea as La Canfora suggests. La Canfora does report that a Chris Johnson-like, one-year $1.4 million bump wouldn't work for Revis.
