I'll take that bet. I think Michaels is done, as he says he is.

Though one last match at Summerslam would be quite a treat. But I just don't see it.

Anyone else think this Viewers Choice night was pretty boring? I'm not a fan of this.

It was a little boring tonight and then that epic finish saved it. Between the bitter former NXT rookies and the Kane angle,I am excited to see what happens in the next few weeks.

Wow just read the results of RAW, I didn't get to see it since I was watching the MLB draft all night, but I wish I saw the ending. It sounds really cool.

Also the WWE is not getting rid of the Survivor Series PPV name, they announced last night at RAW that tickets go on sale for Survivor Series over the summer. I'm very glad they're not retiring an original 4 PPV name.

Haha no I don't hate that idea, just as long as the young guys don't get made to look like jobbers, which is usually what happens when these type of angles happen. As long as it's entertaining while good matches go down and people get over, I'm all for it.

I would actually say they wouldn't do that, mainly because how they started it. Maybe having them win by cheat initially would make things more believable .............. as believable as wrestling can be lol

Eh track records and history isn't on the NXT guys side. Hopefully things will be different this time but I doubt it. I'm sure it's only a matter of time until Triple H returns and beats every single NXT guy in the same night, then cures cancer and hits a home run off of Stephen Strasburg blind folded with one hand.

Yeah that would be cool or in the very least, the top 4 or 5 guys from each brand in a SS elimination match. But that won't ever happen since they're so protective of guys doing jobs now. If they ever did a champion vs. champion match it would just end in a double DQ or count out to keep both champions strong, well unless Sheamus was world champ, they'd make him lose in a squash match.

Great to hear they are keeping the Survivor Series PPV. I agree it would be interesting to have the champs on each brand face off. I heard idea that maybe if it lasts that long they can wrap up this NXT invasion angle at Survivor Series but I'm not sure it will last that long.

Daniel Bryan was released. Conflicting reports on whether or not its true. It appears to be legit. Apparently they feel he went over the line choking Justin Roberts on Monday with his own tie, and spitting on John Cena.

    Sigh.

Yeah I was going to post this earlier this morning when it was first reported as a work. Now it looks legit since the WWE informed high up executives about the firing before it happened, and many doubt they would work the front office like that. That's too bad, I miss the old days when the wrestlers could take dumps in other wrestler's gym bags or sexual assault other wrestlers in the shower and get away with it. Times are changing I guess.

EDIT: Word is Mattel, the toy company, complained that the incident was too violent. I guess they didn't watch wrestling during the ECW/Attitude days.

Are you serious? Too Violent? Cut this G crap out. Edge and Lita live sex is fine, but a wrestler beating up a ring announcer is to much? Granted the WWE was not rated PG at that time, but still, much worse has happened in the WWE. I watched the segment and loved it! It looked real but now they took it too far, give me a break. Suspend him if its really a big problem. Don't fire the guy. Idiots...

While I agree with you, the problem is in your post. The WWE is PG now. They're trying to bring in the kids and the families back to their shows since the people who grew up watching the WWE in the late 80s and early 90s are now into MMA more and it shows in the ratings and buyrates.

yeah but why do a segment where all these NXT wrestlers destroy everything but the kitchen sink? If you do this, tell them what they can and can't do. To fire the guy for doing his job is stupid. Recently WWE had Cheech and Chong as guest host and they had sketch of them "getting high" by eating cereal. Everyone knew what they were trying to say. Its a good thing Stone Cold was not around today wrestling, or his character would have sucked. BIG TIME. Oh man do i miss the attitude days... Wrestling needs to get rid of this PG crap quick.

Also, please keep in mind that VInce's wife is running for Senate. Any bad press from Vince's company and it will sink her campaign further than it already has. Once her campaign is *****slapped at the polls in November, I think the reigns will ease up some too.

I just hope Brian remembers this and tells them to **** off when they try to re-hire him.

Again I'm agreeing with you here. I didn't consider anything NXT did as violent. There has to be more to the story here.

I actually really don't have a problem with the WWE or wrestling in general being PG, I mean I grew up watching the WWF/WCW/NWA/GWF in the 80s and early 90s and that was all PG stuff.

All I want is to be entertained and watch good wrestling (while keeping the wrestlers safe as possible), I really don't need to see an Edge/Lita live sex promo or Triple H pretend to screw a dead body or Mae Young give birth to a hand or to see a guy get hit in the head 10 times with a steel chair. At times I do think the WWE went too far trying to be edgy and most of the times they went too far the angles sucked and flopped anyway.

Was the Attitude era great? Yeah but it was great because of the wrestlers like Austin, The Rock, Angle, Triple H, Foley, Jericho, Benoit, the Hardys, E & C, etc who were both entertaining and put on great matches almost nightly. That what should matter.

  32. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

Again, we are talking about a company whose employees solve conflicts through physical altercations. Its what professional wrestling is based on. The firing makes no sense whatsoever and is the WWE panicking out of fear of someone complaining (beyond Mattel) and causing a political and public dust up.

The best comment had to be by a friend of mine though who said the following, "If Daniel Bryan got fired for choking a guy with his own tie, whoever put Undertaker in a vegetative state is going to be in some serious trouble."

I admittedly laughed fairly hard at that.

This has to be the stupidest release I've ever heard of done by WWE. This seriously surpasses the release of Shelton Benjamin, and that's saying a lot.

Eh, Benjamin had a good run but showed zero charisma. I don't really fault the WWE for releasing him, they just had nothing they could use him for. He also seemed to get a bit lazy at times too. And I am a Benjamin fan too.

Hmmm maybe it is a work after all, I don't think so but, many do now that Cena tweeted a few messages last night about how he thought Danielson getting the boot was unfair and he wants to sign an online petition to bring him back if only for just one match against him. The WWE asked guys with twitter accounts to stay in character when talking about their feuds or the business (hence why Matt Hardy is playing the part of emo you're not going to hold me back anymore WWE wrestler again).

I tend to lean towards this actually being real. It's fitting to me that WWE would essentially destroy one of the hottest angles they've done in years, and tells a lot about the mindset of the company, when either a toy company or a Senate campaign dictates what they can and can't do.

It's a far cry from the Attitude era, that's for sure. What happened to Vince's grapefruits?

Though if you're Bryan Danielson, and this is indeed true, then you've got to be stoked. WWE just made him a bunch of money. Who else can say they took out John Cena on their way out of the company? Or beat up Michael Cole? The gimmick practically writes itself - "Bryan Danielson - The Man Too Violent For TV." One would think his first promo would be legendary. I'd love to see him show up at the next ROH show and just unload.

Then again, this could all be a work and Danielson may show up on RAW tonight. But given the WWE's track record of late, I don't expect that to happen.

    EDIT:

I just got around to watching the segment in question, and no doubt it was shocking and violent. But to flag Danielson as the main violator seems pretty silly.

Kudos to John Cena, who sold the beatdown like a champ (pun intended). The "thumbs up" as he was getting carted out was a nice touch that helped add to the realism. I really liked the fact that there were no announcers - they bailed.

I'm actually intrigued by Raw for the first time this century.

I don't think the WWE isn't dropping the NXT angle, they just canned Danielson. I believe they have been running the NXT angle at house shows and their developmental shows all through the week and weekend.

Glad you brought up Cena, for people that can't stand the guy, they have to admit he's a team player and does whatever the company asks him to do. Plus when there's a big match on the line, he always delivers and never sandbags his opponent. Sure he has his flaws and faults but having someone as marketable and successful as him willing to do whatever for the good of the company I definitely respect that. You wouldn't see Triple H or Hogan doing this ever, unless if was for their friends or they were promised bigger things in return.

Cena is one of the best guys in the business when it comes to that stuff, at least so it seems. Fans may hate him or love for him but he is generally passionate for the business and puts it ahead of his own self interest. Not many, if any, other headliners can really say that, except for maybe a guy like Ric Flair. There seems to be zero politics with him.
