Well, given Ed's age it may be a little expensive. But, he's a 98 FS at a position of need. I'd have had to spend a 1st on a free safety regardless. This gives me a MUCH higher rrated one than the draft could, and removes the risk of not getting one with my pick.
We have a trade: Browns Get Jamaal Charles Troy Williamson 2nd round pick Chiefs Get Josh Cribbs Jerome Harrison Brandon Mcdonald
Browns also have stock piled several picks (12 all total) for the upcoming draft, they currently have the rights to: Cardinals - 1st RD Browns - 1st RD Chiefs - 2nd RD Seahawks - 2nd RD Browns - 2nd RD Browns - 3rd RD Falcons - 4th RD Browns - 4th RD Falcons - 5th RD Browns - 5th RD Browns 6th RD Browns 7th RD Will need to use that 24 to 48 hrs cooling off period following the draft to resign some AUTO DROPPED guys...LOL... As far as Draft dates, if SB gets played tonight (Thur 10th)...I can do Sat or Sun (to give some draft prep time) but then leave Sun and not back till Thurs 17th. Will be available Friday 18th and Sat 19th...then out of town from 20th thru 25th... back in town for draft on Sat 26th or Sun 27th.
Nice deal, BDH. I feel like you may have gotten a slightly better deal than Steve, depending on Steve's needs and how the players he acquired fit his system, of course.
I don't use Williamson at all, he had 0 catches and with Cribbs I just got my number 2/slot WR. I won't miss Charles much and Harrison will be fine. Mcdonald is immediately my number 2/3 CB and gives me 4 great corners and a fifth decent corner now.
I'll take a quick second while I'm eating lunch and put my list up of guys that I'm willing to deal. FB - Owen Schmitt WR - Nate Burleson WR - Deion Branch HB - Julius Jones TE - John Owens RE - Patrick Kerney FS - Brian Russell
Browns Mgmt would be interested in packaging several 2nd round and later picks to move up to 1st if anyone is interested.

The Jaguars and Chiefs have a tentative agreement pending the Chiefs actually show up to the draft. Jags Send DT Henderson #28th overall pick Chiefs Send 3rd round pick #19 overall pick
Chiefs trade 1st Round Pick (19th Overall) and 3rd Round Pick (83rd Overall) in exchange for Jaguars First Round Pick (28th Overall) and DT John Henderson (86). Trade will be completed if both GMs attend the Draft. Entertaining offers for Daryl Smith (79 OLB), Rashad Jennings (80 HB), Shagg Makino (79 HB), and Samari Rolle (68 CB). Main interest is Draft picks but door is open for player trades as well, PM any offers.
In acquiring Ed Reed and Jon Beason the Minnesota Vikings have now added two mid to high 90's rated players without losing a piece of the puzzle. The Vikings now feature an A-rated player at every single starting position on their Offense and Defense. The GM had this to say, "Well, we did such a great job sotckpiling value this entire season precisely so we could do this: go out and overpay to get those last couple pieces to the puzzle. Looking at our other options now, several 70's rated rookies at the same spots, I think we've made the best decision for this ballclub. We've given coach price everything a Coach could ask for. Now it's up to him." Is Coach Price on the hotseat if he doesn't make the playoffs with the leagues most talented squad. You bet your *** he is. Owner, and relative, Barney Price commented that, "Coach Price has our confidence for the time being. GM Price has given him all the pieces and more." not exactly reassuring for the head coach. The resilient coach, however has promised to beat the Lions in their first meeting, a promise fans will be looking forward to seeing him deliver on. "Winning starts in the division, and the Lions have a big bullseye on them. Let everyone up in Pontiac know we're coming for them."

I think the initial excitement and urgency created by the draft board going up has given way lower energy as we now have some time to prepare and think about the draft.
