thread for the show. not sure who watches it, but i love it. the season opener was this past friday.

aside from the politics of the show of who is right or wrong, i just love the dynamic and cat and mouse games between the japanese whalers and the sea shepherds.

i also enjoy the colossal ineptitude of the sea shepherds lol

fridays at 9 (i think) on animal planet

Damnit, I have watched every season... not sure why my DVR didn't record it this time around, didn't even know it was starting up again. I do like watching it of course. Going to miss that idiot who was 2nd in charge though.

I just love to watch stupid people get hurt and/or wreck stuff and act serious in the process. Shame what they ended up doing to that cool Batmobile-looking boat though.

politics aside, it's a good show and pretty entertaining. I can't believe how stupid they are. How many times have they sent out the Zodiac boat only to lose contact. I mean really, after one time, do a freaking radio check before you let them leave haha

You gotta STOP the ship to deploy. The Sea Shepherd seemed to be in motion as they attempted to deploy that boat.

Oh wait, here's the clip (from the "research" boat's perspective). They have such a loose grasp on physics. Trying to ram a LARGER boat = bad idea.

Like so many animal rights groups, they botch their perfectly valid message with ******ed delivery of that message. Whether they are completely inept, ridiculous, too combative, too preachy, etc., most animal groups do a disservice to their cause.

Wearing fur in this day and age is unnecessary, and the practices of the fur industry are deplorable...but throwing paint on someone's jacket, won't convince the to do anything other than buy another fur coat. Whale Wars is no different. Everyone watches them to be idiots, that doesn't help the cause. Using WW do convey the atrocities the Japanese are committing is like using The Benny Hill show to illustrate the objectification of women. Or anything Michael Moore does.

The cause is better serrved by people simply recording the whaling activity from a chopper. Anything else they do is just a waste of time, equipment and fuel.

Or, like the producers of the movie The Cove did, with the LA restaurant that served whale meat.

The money that is spent by Sea Shepherd for launching that vessel could go to meaningful campaigning in Japan, to sway public opinion. Or they can do what they are doing without the theater of stupid people doing stupid things. Stop pretending to get shot, like season 1. Don't board the Japanese vessels and then pretend they kidnapped your people. A lie is a lie, no matter how good one's intentions are, and if your intention is to change people's minds, then don't lie to them.

not sure about that, without having boats out there they wouldn't have a TV show that reaches millions of people. And they don't necessarily care about recording the acitivty, they are out there trying to stop the activity by getting in the way.

And yet every post on here for example, talks about how inept and silly they look. The message gets lost in buffoonery. Its a shame really.

It's reverse psychology.... you can't help but feel sorry for them, the people... not the whales...
