Uhh, no. Wanny was playing with JJ's deteriorating defense. It was only gonna get worse. Maybe not as bad as 4-12, but certainly not playoff bound. Wanny put all his eggs in one basket. And when Ricky left, it was already too late to change course. And he did. He took himself out of 16 games. He knew the position he was in, and if nothing changed, would probably have suffered a carreer ending injury, and ultimately affect his quality of life(after football). Ricky did what was best for him and his body, and in hindsight, best for the phins.
Uhh not quite. That's basically the same defense that went 10-6 the year before and with some added aging veterans they went 9-7 in 2005. They barely missed the playoffs with Ricky the year before so with him there was no way they only win 4 games!! Without Ricky they had 26 int's and 44 fumbles. Teams were not scared one bit of that offense without him. The defense found themselves on the short side of the field constantly and for almost ever because the offense was constantly giving up the ball on their side of the 50... LMAO!! Nothing but a sorry way to say it was OK for him to retire, when the FACTS WERE that he was facing suspension for smoking weed and ran to India like a dog with his tail between his legs. Then topping it off with he might have gotten a career ending injury which can happen on any given play, and very well could have happened (and almost did) when he came back in 2007, and in Toronto when he broke his arm.
Re-read everyone of my posts before you open your trap! Especially when it's coming from someone who's done nothing but bash Dolphins players and even posters on this site.
Relax and understand your sarcasm meter The Dolphins love what Rick brings. I like it too. The guy is still around and extremely productive.
Well if you saw run ricky run, he talks about how, physically, he was feeling worse and worse almost everyday. Lots of stress. Lots of wear and tear. He knew his body needed time to heal. Times like those, injuries are more likely, and more likely to become serious. And he didnt want to be Wanny's workhorse anymore. You can call it what you want, I know about the looming suspension(would have only been 4 games i think), but dont pretend to know everything that went on with him behind the scenes. He did what he felt he needed to, and I hated him for it at the time. But Wanny wasn't making this franchise any better, and I am now happy with the way things ultimately worked out.
2005, Wanny wasn't runnin the show anymore, he was gone. It was Satan's turn, or did you forget? Satan brough those veterans in, and implemented his own defensive scheme. You cannot credit that to Wannstedt. And I didn't say they only win 4 games with Ricky playin in 04, I said they certainly weren't playoff bound. Learn to read.
When Collier stepped down with health issues as the OC and chris foerster was hired that certainly wasn't helping anything in 2004 no wonder rick bailed now with henning he seems way more stable that and he has grown up and become more of a man anyone argues that they still have a grudge
I cannot believe what I'm reading here! From one of the most sarcastic, excuse making, crying about other posters, people on this site, and your telling me to relax? Like I said, go back and read all my posts in this thread and you'll find the one telling you to be quiet....
Well, I'm not happy with the way it worked out because he set the franchise into a downward slide that did not have to happen like getting hit in the head with a hammer. Happy for Ricky today, but when we speak of that time, I tell it like I saw it. I can seperate the two easily.
Wanny's defensive scheme was a good one though. He was part of a SB with it, and Satan? Well, we all know he ran from the NFL but he did not bring in a ton of players. The defense had a lot of the same players, in which you said, they were aging and bound to fail the previous year which is my point.
I feel your pain on that one, but at least its over now and we can honestly say we have big expections for this franchise going forward.
it is interesting to look at that list ... Bell, Crowder, Allen, Allen, are at important crossroads with the team right now. Roster security goes to Will, Bell, Crowder, then Jason .... Crowder and Jason A. will have a fight on their hands for roster spots. Will A. and Bell are good to go for this year. Next year, all the remaining players are question marks, with Carey being the most secure -- but depending upon the growth and development of Gardner and Murtha, he 'could' get traded for a nice high pick. Ricky, Ronnie, Will A. and Bell will all be question marks for next year .... what we can be confident in - is that we won't bring in a high price FA to replace any of these guys -- it would be based on the development of our current players ... since barring injury, our 'requirements' heading into the draft next year won't be that much -- more of BPA type deal ....
Meaning you burned your Ricky jersey and got your panties all in a wad when he left. I still can't understand why people got mad because he retired. I could never blame the guy for wanting to do his own thing. It's just one more thing that I can cling to staying true as a fan. I'm not really a player fan but when a guy tells the truth and just quits at least you have to admire his honesty. That is a lot more than I can say from most fans. Come on now,Ricky didn't send this franchise in a downward slide. We were already heading there. Besides hard to fall down when you were never really on top.
Again, go back and read my posts BEFORE you chimed in.... Ricky's sudden departure absolutely sent this franchise into a spiral. He walked out, and lets not forget that the team spent two first round picks on him.
