Right...and now this....??!?!?! this could get reall good....Revis you can come to Miami bro!! albertbreer RT @NYPost_Hubbuch One more on Revis: He is accusing #Jets of leaking false report that he wants $20M/year to make him look like the bad guy plus Hard Knocks coming this summer....hahahah these guys are going to choke....
Hehe, add he-said-she-said, and it's getting better! OMG I totally forgot about that! Here's to hoping he holds out all through training camp.
dude you say something about training camp hahahahahaha?? people dont even realize the pressure these guys are going to be under up here with the NY media, they are expected to win....NY media are hounds!!!! albertbreer RT @NYPost_Hubbuch From talking to sources close to Revis, it doesn't sound like he'll be at 6/14-16 minicamp. Training camp in doubt, too. </SPAN>
This is just plain funny. I was thinking eh, it probably won't be anything, but its sounding like its going to be a bigger deal. Hah hah, I didn't even think about this:
I hope this spirals into a complete disaster for them this season. Poetic justice for fat Rex and pretty much every cocky Jets fan.
Jests implosion already underway http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/06/03/revis-described-as-furious-could-skip-training-camp/ How are you going to win the OTA Superbowl if your star cornerback isn't even there???
Revis ain't skipping training camp. Just another big mouth that is like a pea in a pod with a flock of other big mouths.
Apparently, Mangold, Harris, D'Brick were promised new contracts as well, and Mangold is tentatively talking about skipping camp too. Let the fun begin!
This is not unexpected. For years, the jets have signed big-name, high dollar free agents. Its tough to resign your young players when all your money is already tied up. Plus, the jets front office has a reputation for screwing its vets. See Mawae, Pete Kendall, Laverneus Coles, Leon Washington, Thomas Jones. Their fans have no class. Why should their front office?
The camps going on right now are not mandatory, per their fat mouth coach. Mangold is pissed because his used up buddy signed with the Cardinals, Faneca. "This is a voluntary camp," Ryan said. "When it's time to react or be frustrated and all of that stuff, I'll react
Updating a previous item, Darrelle Revis was reportedly "furious" with the Jets' initial contract offer. Revis is skipping practices because he was "thoroughly insulted" by an offer that was "pitifully low" compared to his expectations and accomplishments. Revis is believed to be seeking a deal in excess of Nnamdi Asomugha's contract, so the Jets can thank Al Davis for setting the bar ludicrously high. Revis' presence at training camp is now in doubt, and the New York Post's Bart Hubbuch says the situation is "getting ugly fast."
I'd be a bit more worried if it got to that and it's certainly possible. However, he is under contract for three more years and doesn't have too much leverage.
I was trying to find some information on his current contract and came across this: http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2010/06/darrelle_revis_skips_jets_work.html So he could be an UFA after this season? That's some leverage. He is one of the best CB's in the league so he does deserve more than 1 million.
I think this is a big deal out of nothing quite frankly. It COULD develop into something bigger if he skips some of training camp. But sue me for not making a big deal of Revis not attending a VOLUNTARY team activity.
No. The Jets can buy back the final two years for $20 million. Essentially, Revis is getting $1 million this year, but he really has a 3 year/$21 million deal.
I would think as a Jets fan you'd hope that the team steps up and pays him what he's worth. I think he has a lot of leverage. The Jets secondary will take a huge hit if he's not there. He is under contract but that doesn't mean he has to play.
Which is the message your team has been sending it's players... it's called a pattern...... and we here in Dolphin land, LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
Agreed, not a big deal now, but I'll be honest I'm salivating at the thought of it becoming a big deal soon
According to ESPN New York's Rich Cimini, Darrelle Revis' boycott of Jets OTAs on Thursday "was orchestrated" because it was the first day HBO's Hard Knocks crews were at the team facility. The conspiracy theorist in us says HBO paid pushed Revis to begin his "holdout" on the first day of Hard Knocks filming. The realist in us says Revis' agent is using HBO to make his client's cause as public as possible. And the award-winning series officially has its first big story for the summer.
Rich Cimini is so full of ****. A player would never do that, not Revis anyway, unless he really wanted a new deal.
It looks like it will be a big deal, sadly. Is that even legal? That would suck if HBO was conspiring to do this, but as XXX said, this is highly unlikely.
Does this mean that the JEST won't win the offseason Super Bowl that they have won every year for the past 25 years??
