I was equally as shocked. I don't usually give his pieces the time of day, but this one was not laced with sarcasm, ego, and sheer hatred. And he actually pulled it off well.

    it w/ Prisco
    however
    I would be very cautious
    in ordaining the next Marino
    & would add
I don't agree about the passing game
being the winning formula in the NFL
    its all about match-ups
& winning w/ two out of the three:
    Offense, Defense & Special Teams
what's old is new in the NFL
    everything changes
    & remains the same

having said that: I'm very big on the IceMan this year & our passing game. they will build on the 2000 plus rushing yards we collect @ the oppositon expense. should be a formidable show of force behind the Orca-5. We will Contend in 2010.

I don't think anyone is ordaining Henne the next Marino. I think we're simply saying that he's the answer to our QB problems. Which is nice to have considering our track record over the past decade. I also find it highly ironic that you say the NFL isn't a passing league when you've placed so much emphasis on the FS position all off-season long.

I've been saying it all along, Henne has a great attitude and the mentality to succeed. The dude has no fear.

Yeah, that was an interesting piece made more so by Prisco being the author.
That is one hard to impress writer.

Prisco has always liked Chad Henne. Must be a Michigan thing. Before Henne was drafted, Prisco said something alone the lines of him being the best QB coming out that year.

of course FreeSafety is an essential element
to the game, it is the vanguard of the defense

no contradiction in what I wrote
    simple football mathematics
normally, you need 2 out of 3 to win
    FreeSafety is of premier importance
to the defense. it is what it is
to win you must usually dominate
w/ 2 of your three team components
w/o the FreeSafety, you write off one
the game is all about match-ups

you want an experienced, ball hawking free safety, right? And why do you want that? Because of the influx in passing in the NFL. Why the influx in passing in the NFL? Because it's what wins. Everyone in the NFL knows this now. You can't just run the ball and stop the run anymore. The keys to winning in today's NFL are being able to pass the ball effectively, stop the pass and win the turnover battle. It's no coincidence that the Colts and the Saints, the two best teams at doing those things were in the Super Bowl last year. It's no coincidence that in 2008 when Penny threw for almost 4,000 yards and we were the best in the league in TO differential that we were 11-5 and in the playoffs. And it's also no surprise that in 2009 when Henne didn't even reach 3k yards and we turned the ball over more that we were 7-9. The passing game is the key in today's NFL. That's just how it is now.

You have to break the "Offense" into sub categories and "passing" would be one of those. You are gonna have to have a respectable passing game at some point in the season to win those close games.

If there's nothing that's been more overstated any time Henne is brought up, it's that you can't compare him to Marino. And while that's true, the bottom line is he is the best QB we've had in 10 years, that still has a full career's worth of gas left in the tank.

I think this statement from that article pretty much sums up my opinion on him:
