Perhaps not, but are you really comparing Crayton, who's a nice receiver to Johnson, Fitzy and Moss ?? In fact, I doubt that if Boldin were still in Arizona that Crayton makes the roster with the talent they have... And Welker is faster than he gets credit for...when healthy. I just don't think that Crayton is that much better than Cammy or where Hartline may end up...He is faster than those guys...he does have the speed. I'm not against him as a player, just that we have managed with the guys we have. Marshall's addition makes Cammy, Hartline and Bess even more able to produce. Crayton brings two things that we don't have now, more speed and return ability. In that sense he'd be a good addition. However, knowing this regime, they will get play counts in on Bess, Cammy and Hartline even with Crayton. He won't be a clear #2 here. So for adding another potential #2 guy (just like Cammy, Hartline and Bess are) do you give up on some young guns that may develop into future #1's. If you want to win next season, perhaps...if you want to win for a few seasons...I don't know...
sorry we are having like 2 different convos the fitz, moss, johnson statement was based on you saying getting rid of ginn might hurt us in the long run as a elite speedster for marshall. it was unrelated to the crayton argument. my bad for being fuzzy about it bro
Good point... I guess the best case scenario, in my mind, would be to have a speedster opposite Marshall, as his game is better in the mid-ranges and underneath, using his strength to get his YACs... We don't have a sure-fire #2 in any of the guys we have...not that any are bad. Crayton may be better as a complement to Marshall than the guys we have, but knowing this regime, we'll likely see a lot of all the guys rather than a clear #2 to Marshall, so is it worth paying what he wants knowing it'll only be for a couple/three years ??
According to Jason LaCanfora on twitter "Cowboys official on Patrick Crayton: "We are not releasing him!" More on NFL Network at 4 pm Can't post link from my phone, sorry guys.
Yeah, and they weren't going to get rid of TO either...and that came from the owner himself... They may not release him now, but come TC time and final cuts, as someone already mentioned I think, if Williams, Bryant and Austin are ahead of him...he'll be a goner...
Sometimes when "cobrajet" gets wind of something that he knows is true, he can't give a source for obvious reasons because he is too close to things. I poked around and found this link floating around out there. http://bleacherreport.com/tb/b4hFp There is definitely something going on behind the scenes that few people know about. In any event, please change this thread....this is NOT an opinion. The next few weeks should provide us with a fury of Dolphin activity.
The bleacher report is a fan based site as well, so you do have to take it with a grain of salt. Also, the article specifically states that the Boys' contacted Miami about Crayton, not the other way around.... I know that cobra has some sources, but this is just a rumor for now... There may be fire amidst this smoke, but there's nothing concrete...
Well, Mason hasn't returned kicks for years, Boldin and TO either. To me, the question with this dude is whether or not his return skills are worth more today, than some of those young bucks potential for tomorrow? 2 pt return TD's is no small thing, he is also a competent Wr. Which does bring up a recollection, Ireland around the time of the draft mentioned that to shop a player reduces their value, looking back I have to wonder if he was referencing Crayton being offered?
I don't think Crayton is a number two. I think his best ball is as a number three and I don't think we need that right now. We should go into the season with the guys that are on the roster (meaning the guys we keep). I think we have enough talent there.
Crayton can return punts and can be a deep threat. He would be a good 4th or 5th wide receiver. Especially if Hartline beats out Camarillo for the 2nd spot
