They better put him in the Hall of Fame as soon as he is able to. He had more tackles than anyone who is currently in the Hall of Fame. (I don't have the link for that but I know it's true.)

great press conference. worth the watch if you havent seen it yet.

Wish we could have 53 guys like Zach on this team. We'd probably never loose a game if we did.

Glad to see him go out as a phin. Very fitting.

    Slightly left of center
Great news, now put him on the ring of honor and start campaigning for his HOF bust. Only Dolphin I have ever respected as much or more than Csonka.

Thank you for showing fans all over the world that it is possible to be a world class athlete without being a world class ***. I hope science figures out concussions and what they do to players at all levels long before they need your brain.
In the meantime, if you are not using your brain for anything else, how bout it???

    Coach Thomas?

Pretty please with broken jesters on top!!!!

I'm pretty sure alot of teams need a LB coach with is knowledge.

Maybe Zach Thomas wasn't the greatest Dolphin to ever play the game.
Maybe Zach Thomas wasn't the greatest LB to ever play the game.
However, Zach Thomas was one the greatest players to ever play the game at any position.

    He's not the best speaker.
    He's not the best leader.
But he is the best example.

That stuff may only make sense to me, but I don't care...as I said a 1000 times before, he is and always will be my favorite player.

Theoretically speaking on that team, even the kick-off specialist would have about 10 tackles a game.

The QB could score a receiving touchdown on a screen... to himself.

An Offensive line that could block as long as the QB needed.

A FS who could pressure the QB and pick-six a deep pass... on the same play

...the combined mass of the 53-man roster's heart would only be rivaled by that of a blue whale.

Zach's advice for the newest draft class:

"Don't take the game for granted,'' Thomas said. "Don't think the game owes you. You owe the game. The game doesn't need you. Not any of us.''

    This is awesome, and classy.

Thanks ZT for your work and efforts all the years as a Dolphin. You gave it your all for the fans and the franchise, and I don't think any fan would argue the contrary of your heart, skill and ethic.

Thanks man, it was awesome to watch you play like a beast for all those years in our colours.

  13. Without a doubt - the most heartfelt, genuine, eloquent "retirement speech" I have ever had the pleasure to watch. He named everyone, from his high school coach to damned near every player on the Phins, and truly meant each and EVERY WORD. I was in tears... every time someone gave accolades to Zach, he immediately credited his teammates and coaches. Unbelievable. This truly was a momentous occasion for the Miami franchise, and I have never been more proud to be a Dolphin fan. He is an incredible human being and role model for all of us.

I have nothing really new to add, he was a great player and is a great person.

When i 1st saw him play he was going 100 miles an hour, not in the right place.....picking the wrong angles...........i was even telling me friends he look like a chicken running around with it's head cut off.

Then the NFL slowed down for him and he really showed a great player he really was.Being that i'm 35 he's the best MLB i've seen play week in week out.Have missed him and will really miss him now that i'll have no chance at all at seeing him play anymore.

He actually talked about it, said he would probably start off at the high school level...he talked about radio/tv....but said that he wants to continue eventually doing the things he loves, and then he said he can only do one thing in life really good, so I think you will see him coach somewhere down the road..

I definitely got a little teary eyed watching the press conference.

I hope every linebacker on the Miami Dolphins roster heard what Zach had to say.

Good luck, Zach, and thanks for the memories!

Prepare to be disappointed. 3 eligible voters are leaning towards no.

Zach will always be one of my all time favorite Dolphins. He was really a coaches dream come true. He showed up, did his job well and kept his mouth shut and stayed out of the limelight as much as possible.

IMHO he is the last best example to new guys entering this league of what pure sport and character looks like. When people talk about Zach Thomas in the future the younger players of the NFL should gather both paper and pen.

He played like he retired, with heart and class. Kudos and farewell to the best of the best!
