Red Dead Redemption [MERGED]

You've missed some great games.

 

Anyone playing this on Xbox 360 yet? I was wondering about the load times?

 

I agree it's strange but I wouldn't think swimming would be very important in a western.

 

i seriously can't stop playing this game. it's so much better than gta 4. these are the last pictures i'll put up, because i don't want to spoil it. i'm playing it on a 360.




i was trying to take a picture of the open sky, which creates some gorgeous dawns / dusks. i have my revolver out (left trigger). that white dot in the center is how you aim. the red bar on the right of the "mini-map" is how much dead-eye you have left. dead eye regenerates with time.





i'm addicted to poker. i got the elegant suit, so i can cheat. if you're caught cheating, you have to duel. the dueling is pretty much the same as it was in red dead revolver.

Yes I have unfortunately... really want to pick up this and ME2.

First a review said we couldn't swim. Then some random message board guy posted some bogus screenshot email from a R* rep stating that we can swim. So there I am on my Old Spice horse... chillin' top deck on a mountain... I decide to jump off for the hell of it. Red text: "DEAD"

Disappointed.

But it's all good. I understand not being able to swim as they're trying to stay true to the character. I guess John, badass cowboy, just isn't one to take a dip on a sunny day...

 

Yeah... I found a spot somewhere near Armadillo on a hill top. Bunch of rattlesnakes in the grass there. I like how they range in size and weight. I saw some small ones, medium, and a huge one. Just listen out while you're cruising, you'll hear it rattling...

I have an obsession with snakes. I am deathly afraid of snakes more than anything, so being able to pull out my rifle and tear one apart, then skin it with my knife.... epic.

 

This is how I feel. The game play... is what GTA IV should have been.

I'm not into Westerns at all, but this game forced me into downloading Seasons 1-3 of Deadwood, and purchasing Tombstone on Blu-Ray.

Easily the best next-gen game I've played thus far (single player), without question.

 

Are you guys doing missions? I've probably completed like 5% of the missions and I've played a ton.

The depth in free roam is just unbelievable... San Andreas like (best free roam ever)

 

The BEST western trilogy EVER....in my humble opinion.

Game looks amazing I'm buying into the hype.

 

Oh btw... I was chillin' on my Old Spice horse cruising again... saw a dude get attacked by a pack of wolves! End well it did not.

I was like,

 

Almost 12 hours in and I'm just over 50% complete with the game (according to the stats screen).

 

Are you doing a lot of missions? I heard there are less missions than GTA IV, although way more side stuff of course... I might dig more into the missions later tonight.

I forgot to get bit by a snake purposely on my snake quest to see if the bite is insta-death or not... anyone been bit yet?

ALSO, has anyone stumbled upon a grizzly bear yet? I haven't seen one.

I did get chased on foot (and owned) by a cougar or mountain lion - couldn't tell. I could have shot it but I wanted to see what would happen.

 

lol yea, I heard Cougars are not the ones to **** with in this game.

I really want to buy the PS3 version to try out some of the online stuff.
i was hoping this exclusive content would have been more relevant (a gun or a kick *** horse maybe).

 

I was holding the ps3 version in my hands on Wednesday. I saw that, but I figured everybody knew. I could of been in teh Intranetz newz.

Supposedly the 360 version performs better though, so coincidentally achievements win out too.

 

Thats because cougers and mountain lions are the same animal, depending on what region you are in they are called different names however.

 

I decided to be a dumbass and not pre-order this game figuring I could get someone to hold it for me a day before it's release...I was wrong.

I'm gonna have to hit up every store tomorow trying to find a copy. I will go insane if I have to wait another day!!!!

Overnight it from Amazon. It's $56.99 (likely no tax, so that could be used to pay shipping), and you get an exclusive golden gun weapon pack (which helps you gain fame faster I guess), and a $20 "gift card."

 

I tend to agree with that. If it's just costumes I'm going with the 360 version when I go pick it up tomorrow.

Why do people prefer xbox achievements over the ps3 achievements? Aren't they the same?

 

They're better!

Nah the reason I do is because they've been around since the beginning. My gamerscore is all of my 360 gaming. My legacy lol

 

I'm going bear hunting after LAL/PHX...

 

PS3 version has the jaggies... that's it. Not bothersome to me at all, though.

 

Yeah, a friend of mine is an achievement whore on 360...he'll play the worst games, just to get more for his gamerscore. I don't get it. Like, if Inget an achievement, cool, but they're never something I try very hard to get.
