Red Dead Redemption [MERGED]

Anybody heard of any differences between PS3 and 360 versions? Like exclusive content or anything? I'm trying to decide which to go with and if all else is equal I'll just go with Xbox b/c I like their achievements system better.

 

i cant find anything to lead me to believe they're different at all

 

find out which system it was built on. unless there is special content, i usually go against the system that had to port it over.

 

Multiplayer FTW!

 

Anyone remember a few weeks (maybe a 2 months or so) Rockstar had fans vote for which costume they liked better? The costumes helped increase certain stats?

Anyone know which one won?

 

I'm at a cross roads with this game... I want it for PS3. But I will probably get it early on 360. What to do,what to do....

 

That's my basic run down too, but I'm trying to quit XBL. And this looks like it'll be fun online. Hmmmmmm

 

I can't decide what console to get this on either.

 

I'm at the point where I am no longer reading or watching anything that has to do with this game. It has become my most anticipated game ever. I want at least a few surprises. Can't wait until next Tuesday...

It's been a long time (GTA4 I think) since I've been this pumped for something to leak

 

I swear the gaming gods are plotting against me. I thought all I had left was "Alan Wake" then I was done buying games until the end of the year when the new Fallout and some other games release. Now Amazon is offering this with a $20 gift card and some DLC and Alan Wake with a $10 GC. I'm going to be broke.

 

Amazon has had that offer for at least a month now.

 

Amazon almost always has the best deals. Now I just wish I still had Prime.

My gaming backlog is going to get even larger.

I just pre-ordered it from Gamestop for the PS3 and I can't wait to play this game. Would of been awesome if they had a PC version.

 

For those of you wondering if there was a difference in the PS3 and 360 version well examiner.com is reporting this:

Not sure how those small perks will phase people but like the article said it appears to have with Arkham Asylum. Makes my choice of picking the PS3 version feel more solid at least.

I swore the 360 version of Batman still out sold the PS3. I could be wrong.


Edit: VG Chatz is listing 360 version at 1.56 million to PS3's 2.04 million.

 

If there's extra DLC for the PS3 version that is definitely enough to sway me. I believe I preordered this on 360. If Gamestop confirms this I'll definitely switch it up to PS3 before Tuesday.

Is the shooting crisp? I hope its better than in gta.

 

i've played for about an hour and 20 minutes or so. game is a lot of fun and a lot better than gta 4. lots of things to get distracted with. i've already done four missions, two bounties, and bought a house. i shot some guys outside of town, but didn't get their treasure map. the game feels polished like gta, but not nearly as annoying with driving in crowded streets, or always having to dodge cops. you can do a lot more in the world, ala san andreas.

the shooting isn't that gimmicky lock on / auto aim of the past. it's free aim, mixed in with a lot of slowed down dead eye. i kill people mostly from my horse. so far it's awesome. lots of vast terrain, mixed in with the occasional person who wants you to sit next to their camp fire, or robbery, or guy who will say he needs a ride only to steal your horse (i shot him from behind and got my horse back).

Question I have, though: Has anyone found any snakes yet? I found ONE big *** rattlesnake. Scared the crap out of me. Haven't seen anymore since. I'm about to go on a snake hunt though!

I'll answer some common questions......

NO - You can't have sex with hookers. John is a family man.
NO - You can't swim. HOWEVER, you can stand up to your neck in the water. Go further and instant death.
YES - L2 Aim, R2 Shoot. Cannot be changed (at least I don't see an option).
YES - Honor/Fame is similar to Fable games.
YES - Map is ****ing huge. I haven't unlocked the other two parts of the map yet, and I don't know if I will ever need to.

So far, the coolest thing I've done:

Lasso'ed some random NPC, dropped and left him tied on the train tracks. Sat back and watched the train smash him into pieces (blood gore and body parts flying). Brb doing this again while on snake hunt.....

I've tried to set up a horse to get smashed by standing right in front of the train tracks and calling it over. It stood there, right on the tracks... then the train approached... AI is intelligent, horse GTFO right in time.

 

Im really curious to see how good the multiplayer is.

 

Okay it isn't near enough to make me not want this game but how dumb is it that you can't swim when Rockstar has done that for years in GTA.

Also the fact you can hunt in this game instantly has me thinking Oregon Trail which is another reason I can't wait for this.

 

Man... I cannot wait to buy this game! I have only bought 1 game this year (CODMW2, a slight disappointed) and am glad to be done with finals to play this!

 

6 hours 28 minutes in... I am hooked. Nothing short of amazing. It's definitely GTA in the old west. But much more refined and it looks fantastic.

 

Is this game on sale now, or do you guys just get it due to the pre-order? I don't want to wait til tuesday.
