I believe this writer is a Dolphins fan. Anyway check this out, I think you will like the article. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...me-2010-is-a-huge-year-for-the-miami-dolphins
This article is crap. According to the writer, the Dolphins will either be a contender or be forced to rebuild again. That makes no sense. This is not a make-or-break year. The team is getting younger and better. If we don't make the playoffs this year, we'll simply continue to build the team. We've already purged the old guys from the roster.
I agree. We're building a young team to be competitive for the foreseeable future. How many teams go from 1 win to Super Bowl in 3 years?
no disrespect to you D71, cause I appreciate what you do for us here, but that article was weak...Were the youngest team in the league, and personally I do not have superbowl expectations for our team this year, I understand that we have a starting qb in his 2nd year, and a defense full of young horses..The goal is to build a dynasty, not to put all our marbles into what our record is this year.if we can come out with an 8 and 8, 9 and 7 record, with a team this young, I think were on track for some nice expectations in year 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.. Rememeber where this franchise was at 3 short years ago...cleo lemon handing off to samkon gado, with an oline they didnt care, while a marty booker ran down the sideline at 60 percent effort, and the ball hawk known as cameron worrell patroled the deep secondary....year 3 is not a make or break year for us, considering the condition this team started at... bottom line, to be one of the three youngest teams in the league yet still have some playoff expectations is pretty damn cool if you ask me..I'am gonna enjoy their youth this year, and hope i see ascension in their physicality, their overall team speed and athleticism, and most importantly, Chad Henne's game...
I do believe that year 3 is a very important year. I believe that we have to be a strong contender for a division title and be strong for the playoffs or we might have to start thinking about just what the hell our front office is doing.
It's not a make or break year, but at the same time...I believe a lot of people (myself included) expected Miami to be ready to go at this point. I figured the 3rd year of having Parcells and co. would be the year that Miami went the extra step. We'll see.
Yup. You don't need any discernible analytical skills to write for that site. Many of the articles are poorly thought out rubbish.
I do expect a very competitive team this year. IMO anything short of a playoff berth will be a dissapointment. This regime is in year 3 so most of these guys are thier guys. I know we are young so there will be problems "early on" but I see no reason why this team should not compete for the Division Title and a Playoff berth deep into December.
Thanks I do appreciate your comments. I do apologize for posting weak articles. I actually had to reread it because I actually thought it was a good article. I pride myself in bringing quality articles for everyone to read so I do apologize and I will do better to get you the "good stuff". I do appreciate the comments that was made.
This year is about getting better. Making a run would be great. The Dolphins only have 7 guys on the roster over 30 years old and one of them is the long snapper, one is suspended for the 8 games and one of the others might not be able to make all the throws well enough to even compete as an NFL QB. Next year is do or die.
This year's Miami Dolphins team is not bad by any stretch of the imagination. We're young, and we're improving. But let's take a realistic look here. We're going to have a 1st year starter at FS, whether it be Reshad, Culver or Clemons. We have two 2nd year starters at CB, they're very promising, but still very young. We have 2, possibly 3 first year starters at LB with Koa Misi, Cameron Wake and A.J. Eads/Tim Dobbins. We have a NT who's never played NT before. We have a possible 1st year starter DE. We have a young QB in his 2nd year starting. We have a running back who's never stayed healthy for a whole season and another who's in his 30s. And we have a largely young, yet unproven WR corp behind Marshall. Any Dolphins fan who thinks THIS is the year will be sorely disappointed. The beginning of the season is going to be key for us. We play 3 division games, 2 at home. As well as go to Minnesota before our bye in week 5. If we stumble out of the gate, we could see our playoff chances go up in smoke quick. But if we can weather the storm of the first 9 weeks, we have a chance to make a run in the second half of the season with games against the Titans, Bears, Raiders, Browns, Lions and Bills. I can see playoffs this year. In fact I might be a bit disappointed if we don't make the playoffs this year. But I disagree whole heartedly that this is a make or break year, because we shouldn't even make the Super Bowl this year with the roster we have. We're getting there though.
I really disagree, this is not a make or break year for the Miami Dolphins. This is a Make, or patch up the holes we have, as we won't have much turnover next season, year. The Jets... They're in Make or break mode. Rex Ryan has bet the farm on making it this year. He's got so many aging players stacked up, and so many one year contracts that he's going to have his head spinning come next year. The Jets will probably have a great year this year, but I'll eat my hat if they repeat it next year.
friend Gardenhead: agree w/ your astute assessment of the situation. this is not a make or break year for the Dolphins. we basically are putting the finishing touches on the franchise. may have to tweak something here or there, add or subtract but the team is established & will provide the base to a perennial contender beginning this season. we will contend in 2010 & be a perennial contender for a decade
Call me crazy I loved the effort Worrell used to give, that dude used to throw his body around with reckless abandon.....he just didnt have the ability....
I think if we hadn't dumped 4 defensive starters from last year (plus Fergy suspension) and moved from Penny to Henne, it would indeed be make or break. But it wasn't allowed to go that far. Tremendous youth movement continues! Hopefully the offseason additions, draft picks, new d coordinator all fall into place and move in the right direction! It's not "make or break", it's "why not us?"
