Alright guys, the draft is over now. We'll go ahead and waste our time in grading this draft the day its over. Truely you never know how you did until a couple years after. So lets see your grade and why.
Solid B "85 out of 100 type" (Meat and Potatoes - nothing flashy (aside from Marshall), but all High Octane High Motor, Heady but versitile Athletes, with TRENCH BEEF and most importantly heavy on the D) And I am tempted to say A- based on Marshall.
I AGREE WITH THE POLL. But till then. We went into the off season needing a WR, OLB, ILB, S. We now have Marshall (Pro bowler). Danzby (pro bowler) and more then a few LB draft picks. A Safety in the draft. We got better on the O line and D-line. We have a better D-coordinater. Alot of the draft picks weren't the names we had expected to hear (minus Con of course), but strong guys with good work ethic and better character. We tried to upgrade Safety better but were shut out in FA (so far). That's an A in my book.
I think they addressed every position necessary, based on that alone they deserve an A. I'll give them a B for not getting another safety though. My favorite pick was Rashad Jones, great player. I have never seen so much talent in a draft.
From what I can tell, there was no "Pat White" pick. But, I'll be interested to see how this players pan out. Now I can't wait till training camp.
Can't really grade it, because if these guys hit the field and flop, then this was an awful draft. That said, I doubt that will happen, but it bears stating. Anyways, I'm very happy with the draft aside from FS. But going into the offseason, and expecting to adequately satisfy 5 places of extreme need (ILB, OLB, WR, FS, NT) in a capless offseason with limited Free Agents is downright impossible. That being said, we've sealed up ILB, got a good grasp on OLB, solved WR, left FS a bit open, and adequately addressed NT (Just depends if Stark can really do it for an entire year, every game). I will say that IF everything works out like it should next year after all the acquisitions we've made, there is no reason we do not contend next year. Even if Clemons/Culver go Safety, and aren't lights out, they'll at least be of Gibril Wilson's level. I think even if we threw GW into the group we have now, we'd still be a playoff team. This is going to be pass rush central coming from the front 7.
Doesnt have to.....Ferg back for 9th game. An 8 game rotation of Starks and Soliai will more than hold the fort.
Heh I cheered when Mcluster got drafted. Watch that bastard prove me wrong though! A lot of this draft hinges on a player that wasn't drafted in Randy Starks. Hes got some DT experience with the Titans and some DT/NT experience with us. If he proves to be as solid in the middle as he has been on the end then I really like this draft. 6 Linebackers drafted. Wow. They weren't playing around and I look for one of these guys to really push Crowder and hopefully replace him. That could give us three LB's with real cover skill. Also whats going to help make or break this draft is the hybrid scheme that Nolan is going to bring. All in all I would give it a B or a B plus.
Obviously we'll have to wait to see how it all pans out, but I really like it. We have a chance to get 2 or even 3 immediate starters out of the draft, along with some core special teams players, not to mention finally getting a #1 receiver. At the very least we get significant contributors to this years team with great potential. Maybe no sexy picks in the draft, but this one may prove to be our best yet. I give it an A because this draft brought us Brandon Marshall.
Including Brandon Marshall, I give it an A-. I can't give it a full "A", because we still don't have a proven ball-hawking free safety. If we get Darren Sharper or Atogwe, then I would give our draft & trade moves an A+.
liked the positions they drafted, not happy with the players they chose...especially day three. This was the deepest draft Ive seen in a long long time and I saw quality prospects snatched up by alot of teams that we let slide. I will grade this draft in comparison to other teams. We'll see how it plays out but we picked up alot of projects IMO in a draft where you had surer bets Having said all that I have faith that we'll find a few gems. They seem to get tough quality guys every year. I just dont see alot of starters. I see more depth
Compared to the Pats draft we had a bad draft. I thought they did excellent this yr. I like Odrick. But we traded back from the 12th when we could have drafted Earl Thomas, who was touted as the best safety corner combo in the league. I give it a C.
I'll take our FO and scout's word more than the hype machine. I'm excited about this draft as I love me some LBs
I would say a B. I know we need Linebackers but we seemed to focus on them a little too much and didn't focus on some other areas, but hopefully we can fill in the other pieces before the season starts.
I've watched every draft since 1996 and I can assure you there are no sure bets. We are simply at the mercy of the info available to us. We are not pounding the pavement like the scouts are. I don't believe you grade a draft based on the needs filled because you don't know if these kids can play or not. You can pick a player at every position of need and be graded high for it but where are you if none of your draftees prove to be any good?
I would have liked we pick worilds and not Misi and Jeff Cumberland TE from illinois in later round (I hope we sign him in UDFA) but I have faith solid draft : grade B for me
I'll grade it now on-paper and again in 3 years. Grade for now is a solid "B" and if we throw Marshall into it, I say A-. I like this draft quite a bit. I think alot is going to depend on Misi. We shall see.
this guy gave us an A. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/NFL-Draft-grades-every-team-bradford-tebow-042410
I would say anywhere from B to A- if you include B Marshall. We had a crying need at WR- we got one of the best. Hopefully Odrick will be a Richard Seymour type, and there is disappointment, at least initially, because he isn't a pure NT type. Misi is a very active OLB. Jerry should fill our need at Guard, dude is a mauler with size. AJ Edds is a heady, active, fast, good covering LB with size. Reshad Jones could be the answer at FS and was a solid value pick. Carroll has potential, McCoy, too. I get a good feeling about Spitler. It was a solid draft, it just lacked pizazz. I'll confess to a few things- wondering if we would have taken Dan Williams if available and wondering, given that Parcells loves Tebow, if he would have been tempted to take him if he was available at #28. Luxury pick I know, I'm just very curious about that one.
