so we added 1 OG 1 DT/DE 2 OLB 2 ILB 1 SS 1 CB + Converted Starks to NT and added via trade WR Brandon Marshall and LB Tim Dobbins. Not to mention Dansby. So the FO did what should've been done. Added a n.1 WR threat, depth to the OL, and loaded the defense, with special attention to LB. Just a FS is being "missed", but if they neglected it they must be confortable with the situation for some reason,,, maybe trusting in Clemmons, Culver, Allen, whatever or are about to add someone next weeks a FA,, IDK I'm satisfied. Can't do it all at once, but these guys did almost everything. Please add some info I may be forgetting Solid draft B+, but overall very good offseason A- I don't like making threads as you guys are always covering pretty much everything lol, but I can't wait for the season to start.
We added a bunch of high character/hard working guys with high motors that will contribute from day one. I think Odrick and Misi start right off the bat, and John Jerry competes for a starting spot but will see the field at some point this season. A.J. Edds is going to contribute in passing situations, and Reshad Jones will push to see the field in the secondary while contributing on special teams as well. Wouldn't be surprised to see McCoy and/or Spitler make the team as a special teamer as well. Carrol is the obvious developmental wild card. Will Allen won't be around forever, and we lost Nathan Jones. When you take this draft, and add it to Karlos Dansby, Brandon Marshall, Tim Dobbins, and Richie Incognito... color me impressed with this offseason. GREAT WORK by the FO.
B- from me I like a couple picks and don't like a couple. It would have been a B, but drafting 4 LB's is a bit much imo... I would have given them an A if they had still scored Dan Williams with the 28th pick. I'd only give an A+ if you had gotten a franchise type of player. I don't think any of these guys are but many will contribute. The Dolphins did get 2 franchise quality players on each side of the ball in the offseason in Marshall and Dansby. If Incognito cleans up the attitude, he will be a great pickup at RG. I think Dolphins got obviously burned twice in the draft for 2 players and draft needs they needed most. NT - Dan Williams getting drafted 2 spots before them in the 1st round FS - Morgan Burnett also got drafted 2 spots before them in the 3rd round Those really hurt. Though I really like getting John Jerry in the 3rd round. He's going to be a beast to pair with Jake Long on the left side.
yeah i wasent very happy at first but now im actually kinda glad they didnt blow it like im use to seeing from past FO waiting to see these new LBs running wild
They went all in to try to upgrade the LB corps and defensive line which is good, but I'm still worred about the safety position at this point.
I think it's incredibly short sighted to try and assign a grade to our draft at this point. I remember quite clearly most thought Brian Hartline was a horrible, horrible pick last year.
It is not grading how the players will perform in the NFL. It's grading how well you think your team filled their needs in the draft.
Think: Peezy. Old; now gone. Taylor. Same. Crowder. Mediocre. Ayodele. Worse. Torbor. Below them, even. Wake. Rush specialist. None of them can cover. Soliai. Mediocre. Ferguson. Hurt and suspended. Merling. Ok to good. Langford. Good. Starks. Very good. No depth to speak of. If I were Nolan I would have been pushing the Trifecta full time since my arrival to do exactly what they did in this draft. And don't even get me started on the Gerbil. Look. You may not like it, or some of it, but you can't say it doesn't make SENSE. Remember Wanny and Cam.

that. I'm grading their overall work for now. There's no doubt the final evaluation will be done in a couple years..
Reshad Jones is a FS not a SS i think he can play both but i think he will be a FS and a very good one IMO
I'm going to say B+, A if you add Marshall. I think Marshall just gave last year's draft a half point increase as well when I think about how much better Hartline should do having Marshall on the other side. BH is going to have a monster year.
I agree, of course we'll see how these kids pan out over the next couple of years. I'd love to look back 2-3 seasons from now and say DAMN WE HAD A HELL OF A DRAFT BACK IN 2010
As a time traveler, I can offer my grade. Looking back, this is easily the best draft in Dolphins history. Odrick and Misi are both Hall of Famers. Considering Dan Williams and Earl Thomas were both complete busts, we got a hell of a value trading down. If you figure Marshall into this draft class, it gotta be one of the greatest drafts of alltime. Marshall's 2nd super bowl mvp was the most impressive display by a WR that I haven't seen yet. Being a time traveler takes the suspense out of it, but it pays off in Vegas. Speaking of which, everyone put your money on the Packers this year. They win it all. Next year starts our 3 peat.
I think the FO has done an excellent job of being aggressive about unloading the weak links and trying to fix areas needing improvement. It was just a few weeks ago when it seemed our WR situation wasn't going to change, not going to pick up Marshall, the team was stubborn about convincing the world they're happy with our WR group. So many fans clamoring "OMG we need Marshall Boldin V Jackson A Bryant draft Dez!!!1!1!!one!!11!!!" Then all of a sudden, BAM! Hello Brandon Marshall, sayonara Ginn Family! First day of the new league year and we cut G Wilson, Porter, and Ayodele as fast as possible. Signed Karlos Dansby to big contract. Re-sign Pennington to backup Henne. Take a low-risk high-reward shot on Incognito. We dump the coordinator of our failed defense and bring in Mike Nolan, then draft SEVEN defensive players. We learn through Ireland they have a plan to shake-up the D line positions to get the most of our talent plus our 1st round pick. We're not sticking to something that isn't working, everything is being shaken up and improved. Not too proud to cut the three most under-performing starters of our d and d coordinator without a second thought. Brought in Brandon Marshall to give Miami their best #1 WR in at least 15 years. I think the FO was really disappointed with the 7-9 result, especially the 3 game losing streak when a playoff spot was potentially ours to earn after a slow start and injuries. Toughest schedule or not, the team clearly took a step back, and now we're doing everything imaginable to take three steps forward! We're not sitting on our butts accepting mediocrity that we're all too familiar with less than 10 win seasons, narrow playoff misses, late season meltdowns, playoff beatdowns. I'm confident we will have a solution for safety by the time September rolls around. The best prospect initially for D Coordinator was Al Groh (groan). Then at the 11th hour, here comes Mike Nolan! Yes! Ireland makes excuses for G Wilson's horrendous performance looking forward to better play next year, and then he's cut! Sparano continues he's standard happiness with our current WR group, then we trade for Marshall! Expect the unexpected! Don't think the FO doesn't know our needs, this year will not be same-old same-old, they're doing damn near everything imaginable to get better and become a champion! The 2010 season can't come soon enough! Let's go Dolphins!!!
