After what I think was a great first 3 Rounds (now that the whole NT thing has been cleared up). I think all we need now is to get that Free Safety Reshad Jones is still undrafted, I think we should trade up to get him, perhaps using some of those later picks, Jones was expected to go in rounds 2-3 so getting him in round 4 is a steal. perhaps a trade using Merling or Smiley is possible now that they don't look like their in our future plans...(even though I want to keep both) What do you guys think
Reshed Jones would be a nice prospect but not sure hes better than what we have already.. We needed a STUD and we left those go..
I'm not so sure Reshad Jones was expected to go before rd 3. I thought he was a rd 3 prospect at best personally.
I like jones but he's a SS. Based on my (very amateur) player evaluations, the best thing we could do if we were to trade up in round 4 would be to take Jimmy Graham or Aaron Hernandez and prepare to outscore teams.
I think if we are going after a safety in the 4th, we should be looking at Jones. He most likely won't be there for us unless we trade up. I'm all for it. I say we should consider Blount at RB if he's there in the 5th. That's a big if, prob be gone by then
I think Anthony McCOY might be a good pick up at TE. Dude is great at run blocking and has great hands. Hard to tackle as well. Curious to see how tomorrow goes down
What I want is more tackle makers and heart breakers...enough with the nice nicee stuff...I want some mfing Pirates. Someone slip some STP (DOM 2,5- dimethoxy-4-methylamphetamine.)into Irish's coffee..eh?
im not buying the odrick pick and the "new scheme" starks moving to the nose i'll question that all day
Why starks has been used at the nose at times before for us. He also played the 1 technique a few years during his time with the Titans. If we go for a FS Robert Johnson in round 5 is ideal. I see a player with just very natural instincts for the position there. If not im OK with Culver, Jason Allen (being moved again) and Clemons or trying Will Allen there
starks has hit his spot as a 3-4 DE go back and watch he was real good there JA needs to stay at CB maybe we still like culver. we have been developing him
Starks has said he feels more comfortable inside and he can handle the 1 technique well. hes strong as an ox and fits the trifecta prototype. JA improved last year but he played more like a FS anyway then a CB. I think his obstacle is the mental aspect calling assignments for the defensive backfield. Goodnight Killer
I want another OLB prospect to get into the mix with Misi, Wake, Anderson, Moses, etc. I think we missed out on FS this year and we just have to live with it. The best players left on the board might just be DE/OLB, TE, and WR. Sign Sharper and fix the position long term in 2011. I like Greg Hardy in the fourth round if he's still available, or a pass catching H-Back like Dickerson or Hernandez. Jacoby Ford would be a nice replacement for Teddy Ginn as well. He'd be able to step in right away as a KR, PR, and deep threat on offense.e
remember the NE game when vontae broke his thumb? who played CB? JA is a corner bro. could still find his spot in the nickel. we shall see starks isnt a NT but he can be a DT in 4-3 hopefully
He was a late second early third round prospect. I would love to get Reshad Jones but i think we need to stay put and if he falls to us great if not then we draft a FS later in the draft that way we could go with Mike Williams, Aaron Herendez, or Dennis Pittia for the first pick in the forth
Starks is a NT because that is where he will be next season he has good size his only 5 pounds lighter then ferguson and i think Starks could be a good NT
I can feel ok with Starks at Nose Tackle if thats where he wants to play and feels most comfortable. Ive said it a few times though, at this point Id like to start adding some speed to this team. On offense especially we are rather plodding. Even Marshall as good as he is, is not a burner or speedster. He makes plays by breaking tackles and being phsyical. Id like to see a Jacoby Ford or Trindon Holliday to come in and play some special teams and maybe give us a guy we can stick in a 4 WR set and just let him run deep and long. Erik Norwood imo would be a great pick in the 4th - and actually a guy I predicted lol, which almost certainly means he wont be the choice. If he continues to drop, Id say you really need to look hard at Griffen as well. Tight End will be a spot I feel we will also address at some point. Maybe Pitta or the USC kid. Hernandez I dont know if he will fit here well.
gonna miss that OSU guy ginn or something.... speed cant be taught but it can be drafted...... We have a lot of late round picks, im sure one will be that speedy return guy
If you look at all 3 picks, they are all versatile guys who can play more than one position. I think Jacoby Ford would be an option. I also have a hunch that Ireland like Myron Rolle and wouldn't be suprised to see him take a flier on him. We can throw a lot at the wall today with the picks we have left.
Mine too my Palmetto Brother! I think that being an inch or two too short for prototype, may be more than made up for by the following: He's a coaches dream. He has met and exceeded all his coaches expectations at any position they played him at - DT, DE, OLB, and ST's. He can get in the backfield, as he is now South Carolina's all-time sack leader, AND all-time tackles for a loss leader. He made plays all over the field with sacks, TFL's, FR's and INT's for TD's in a 4-2-5 base defense designed to deal with the high octane passing attacks of the SEC. For a sizable chunk of that season, they had the #1 D in the land. You'd be hard pressed to find an LB who made more big plays over the last few years than Eric Norwood. Oh, and did I mention he blocked kicks too? Draft this kid pleeeeeease!
One other guy I forgot about is Mardy Gilyard. If we are looking for a speedy WR, this kid could definitely be it. Very good as a 3-4 option, and boost to our special teams.
