The answer to JT signing with the jest. The FO probably wanted to wait until after the draft, but couldn't now.
he just signed his tender, not resigned... that means he is either trade bait or will remain on our roster for depth...
Anderson plays the weak side, doesn't he? Who needs the active NFL sack leader when we have the "Q" and absolutely nothing else at SOLB. I thought a Parcell's defense was all about LB's, seems like we are getting rid of the good ones (JT, Porter, Roth) while keeping the JAG types.
we should have never let roth walk away. he transitioned well to the position and was developing nicely there. I understand he was due a new contract after the season but the guy was real solid and young. how he walked for nothing ill never understand. the writing was on the wall with porter and jt. way too long in the tooth to make a difference in the future. moses and anderson are backups regardless this team has had a glaring need for OLB's for a while now. look for us to take at least two or hopefully three of em in this draft
Backups eventually become Starters KillahP, as they should, this idea that Rooks come into the league and are Day 1 Starters and play at a high level is nonsensical. Ck has a nice youtube vid up with pretty much every play Q had: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=um8wPIfmWBc"]YouTube- Universal Draft Presents Miami Dolphins OLB Quentin Moses[/ame] You've been banging on Moses fairly hard take a look at the video and tell me what your assessment is..I'm curious to hear it.
just like those rooks moses has never started a football game. he is serviceable but i wouldnt pencil him in just yet. look man it is no secret this team has a need at OLB and we could see moses play while someone develops. if moses becomes that player i am more than cool with that i really hope it happens. thanks for the vid
Well, waaay back last season it was speculated that Roth was staging a holdout disguised as an injury, and it turned out to be correct. Roth knew if he stayed in Miami, we weren't going to pay him, especially with the collecitve bargaining agreement expiring. But to boil it all down, Roth didn't want to be here, and we did not want him here at the end of the day.
Well, the thing of that is, "everybody knows" doesn't ring true to me, not with players who played in limited roles, they clearly can play or the wouldn't be out there, but what can be drawn from that limited playing time? That is the question, for example Q, here is what I saw: -Can be single blocked by a Te -Has trouble disengaging from blockers, once he locks up with them, he is stuck to them for the most part. -Not particularly strong, if one notices the Wr screen that New England ran, the Dolphins knew it was coming, but it still worked...mainly because Q allowed himself to be effectively blocked by..Wes Welker... Q is 6'5 260, he should have blown Welker up... On the positive side: -looked much more fluid in his play later in the season -Did start disengaging from blockers, on his lone sack the Fb couldn't block him -Q does manage to be in the right position in his coverage drops. No problem bro, it's been a solid week of whiplash for Dolfans, we added Brandon Marshall, Jason Taylor left for the Jests, and the draft is in 2 days. After the draft has begun we will have more consistently positive material to enjoy and alot of the back and forth will end...hopefully.
I don't think the two things are related. If Moses wanted to play this season, he would need to sign his tender eventually. The tender is basically an offer on the table. It's been there since early March. Just up to Moses when he felt compelled to sign it.
Yeah, I'm sure ole Rexy is shaking in his boots at the thought of Q. Moses tearing thru his line to get a sack or two!
Imho, Q Moses in on the bubble, whatever he has to offer he had better show it in Training Camp as he doesn't play Special Teams, the only way he stays on the team is by developing into a Starter.
I've got it! Ireland has been secretly planning a blockbuster trade for Demarcus Ware, right? Moses, Anderson, Folsom, Walden and our 1st rounder... Seriously though, I could see maybe drafting a McClain if he drops and moving Crowder back to the outside where he was a little better IMO. I'm just as concerned with the FS spot though as OLB.
i'm not even sure if Moses is 'serviceable' .... we absolutely MUST, MUST, MUST get a starting SOLB this draft as i don't see Johnston or Moses as the answer at this point in time, and no one else has the requisite size. we 'can' get away with Anderson / Wake on the WOLB side if need be.
I've always considered the inability to shed blocks to be an awareness issue. Meaning his read and react time might be a little slow. Too busy trying to make a read and not concentrating on the first order of business which is beating you man. No doubt Q as you call him has the size to do this. I really dont think that is the issue with him. that video exposed or entire defense imo. We just weren't very good on that side of the ball last season. Agree Padre this has been a crazy week. One of the busiest I can recall in some time for the Dolphins and it is almost football Christmas. The bickering matches will probably get worse because not all of us are going to be happy with what we find under the tree.
So with the talk that Brown won't be traded during the draft because he hasn't signed his tender... given the fact that Moses has signed his tender, do you think it's likely for him to be part of a trade this weekend, ala Tim Dobbins was to us?
