Just posted per Glazer's twitter. " Ted ginn just traded to 49ers for a late-round pick in this year's draft! http://myloc.me/64NgJ " http://twitter.com/jay_glazer Enjoy...
Ted Ginn Jr Traded to SF for late round pick. According to Fox's Jay Glazer the Dolphins have traded Ted Ginn Jr to 49ers for a late round pick. Check his twitter I cant post links.
In all honesty I hope its a decent round pick. While I don't think Ted Ginn Jr is anything special his athleticism, and return skills alone will be missed. Marshall is a beast but NONE of our other receivers are really fast enough to stretch the field. We will also need to spend a late round draft pick on a returner now so what was the point?
A late round pick?? I'm pretty pi$$ed right now. What a waste. I could see for a 3rd or 4th but late round to me is 6 or 7. I would like to see what he could do with Brandon Marshall on the field.
woo. get ready to watch ginn have his best season this year. Crabtree and Vernon Davis pulling in double teams while Ginn just runs straight? Congrats SF. they've built one scary wr corp.
Does this tie in to the other post suggesting we will be surprised with our draft this year? CJ Spiller looks more and more like it makes sense given what was said about us being surprised and this now recent news of Ginn traded. Jacoby Ford maybe? Oh my how this draft just keeps getting more and more interesting.
late round pick if true this is a mistake. you can't teach speed. marshall as #1 but bess and hartline in slot and make Ginn the outside speed guy (alvin harper to micheal irvin) Don't like this move for a 5th, 6th or 7th what a waste #9th overall just 3 years ago to crappy throw away pick.
My thought was Marshall would take all the pressure of being the #1 guy and Ginn would light it up...guess we shall never know. why not cut Turner to keep Ginn ?? not so sure this was the right move. Does Hartline have speed any where near Ginn?
Ginn was scheduled to make what, 1.3 Mill this year? Hopefully they have someone in mind who can return kicks. If we draft Spiller, that'll fill the void.
Stupid. I'd rather have waited to see what he can do with Marshall, or at the least, get innovative in how we used him (i.e. josh cribbs. percy harvin) before just giving him away like that. Like someone esle said, that late pick will only be used to replace him as a return man. Won't be surprised if the Niners get way more out of him than we did. At least we got his contract off the books, though
Someone had to go. And to be honest, I expected it to be Ginn. Just cut your losses and move on. I expect Pennington to be next.
Oh, we'll know. If Ginn across from Crabtree explodes, we'll hear about it on these boards and other Phin boards for years... Unless Turner works out, too. Short answer: No.
It's a waste all around. A waste of a pick, a waste trading him for nearly nothing. Nothing good there at all.
There is nobody in the late rounds that is guaranteed to do what Ginn can do for us, even based on his crappy season last year. Oh well.
Retire #19. Say its for Scott Mitchell or something. But I dont want the Ginn stench rubbing off on anyone else...
Know what... I think it's a great place for Ted Ginn. Mike Singletary will ABSOLUTELY light a fire under Ginn's *** about being cowardly about contact. The first time Ginn runs out of bounds shy of a first down marker or dives to the ground, Singletary will be ALL over him. Also, he is the PERFECT complement to Carbtree, who cannot get deep because of his lack of speed. Great for Ted and the 49ers. I DO think we should have had escalators (hope we do) so that if Ted goes over 1000 yards we get an additional pick next year or something.
I'm interested to see what this "late round pick" is. My feeling is that it won't be enough, because as disappointing as Ted Ginn has been, he's been a better contributor than any 5th round or later pick that this team has drafted since Rex Hadnot.
