Taking injuries and age out of the equation, just based on pure talent, it's Moss and Welker hands down.
With Welker being injured, and Holmes missing 4 games, I'd have to say Miami has the best WR's in AFC East right now... ~IN TUNA WE TRUST~
I'll compare just the top 2 WRs since that's all that's listed a team or two. In spite of my rampant homerism, I would say Moss/Welker when healthy. But since Welker isn't back from injury yet, I'll drop them to a very close #2 after Marshall/Hartline. I don't have huge respect for Edwards, he can vanish for long periods of games, but he and Holmes together are a good tandem. EDIT: Forgot about Holmes suspension. He's gone for 1/4 of the season already, maybe more? Bills, average group at best. Edwards is a burner who can hurt you, but the others...meh. So I say: Miami NE NYJ Buffalo If Welker comes back fully healthy I'd shuffle the top two, but even then I'd say it's very close. If Hartline develops significantly from his rookie season.... If we compare the WRs 1-4 as a group instead of just the top 2: putting Bess, and to a lesser extent Ginn, in the mix I think gives us a better overall group than anyone, NE is thin after Moss/Wes.
I'd buy that too....I just have a problem downgrading a group because of injury, but upgrading a group because of 'potential' ?? Sure, Marshall is, right now, without any games being played the best WR of the entire group, but does that put us in drivers seat simply because of adding Marshall to a solid, yet unspectacular remaining group of WRs ??
Marshall moves us up to a tie for 2nd with the Jets, but NE, as much as I hate them, are still the Golden standard receiving tandem for the AFC East and the NFL. I think we have the best receiver overall in Marshall, though.
Taking age out of the equation, Jason Taylor is the best passrusher in the NFL. You can't ignore age and injuries.
They won the AFC East last season only because Miami and NY were still working out some kinks. They haven't truly owned the East in three years. You can pretend Welker tearing his knee to shreds won't matter but we'll see what happens when they take the field. Moss is still a talented player but is he so good on his own at this age that he puts the pats at the top at WR? I personally don't think so. The Pats do not have good depth either. Are they going to win games with Julian Edelman? The Jets have pretty good WR depth now and the Dolphins now have the best single WR in the division so to me it's easy to put those two ahead of the Pats. That New England QB might have something to do with them contending for titles for so long. But if that makes me stupid to think then so be it.
