Great minds think alike. lol. As I scrolled back up the previous page, that thought hit me too. The thing is, Bess is a fine little receiver, but his skill set does not compliment BMarsh's skill set like Ginn and Hartline's does. BM can and should be the guy you're looking for on all those 3rd and 6 type plays. Hartline can run the slants and such and can get over the top sometimes if a DB doesn't respect his white boy speed. He was a track man for heaven's sake. Ginn for all the hatred he receives around here, does not drop those fly patterns that hit him coming in over the shoulder and there probably aren't more than 2 guys in the league who can run with him.

Which also means Te is not really an issue, unless they wish to upgrade the blocking aspect, which is also why they are sniffing around UK's John Conner, who also played Te as well as FB..ie..Don Warren.

Well, it worked, but I still can't say I agree with the logic although it is clearly a safer play with Ronnie throwing the ball than Ricky, IMO. I think a telling point here is I didn't remember the play that worked, but I do remember the one that didn't and cost us dearly. Not because I thought it was a "genius" playcall but because I'm never one to argue after we put 7 on the board, whether there was a better/safer way to do it or not. You are absolutely right though, these questionable play calls only get put under the microscope when they don't work.

IMHO 3/4 of the blame goes to Henning for calling such a crappy play and 1/4 goes to Ricky for not keeping the ball. I remember that play like I just watched it 5 minutes ago. Buffalo had it read before the ball was even snapped. They snapped the ball, handed it to ricky and the linebackers were already in coverage, Ricky pumped a couple times as to scare them (I guess) but Buffalo wasnt being fooled, and Ricky threw it for the INT..

    1) The play should have never been called given how successful we were during that drive
    2) (which I completely agree with you) When Ricky knew the play was dead, he should have, a) kept it and ran for whatever he could have gotten or b) threw it out of the endzone or to the ground

Way too many times last season we got cutesy wootsy... I wanted to destroy Henning.. Yeah, lets do a reverse from the opponents 15 yard line. Wow, the tightening defense will never be able to stop that. :pity:

I think I do remember one that went to Fasano. I believe we were just past midfield.

Right. I think the risk is more justified there because you're not passing on points, and the payoff of a TD or big gain with the half back pass is worth the payoff versus a running play that statistically speaking will probably only gain 3-5 yards. Also, if you're out of FG range, you're not putting already "earned" points at risk. When I say earned, I mean you're in scoring position.

Conner is basically a Lou Polite clone IMO.
