No one on the roster is safe as the Dolphins brass scramble to add more drafts picks between rounds 2 and 5. Expect more blockbuster news very soon.
I would assume it would be a conditional pick. So here's to him having a great season where ever he goes.
We just traded for Marshall. We're trying to win this year. We need Ronnie more than we need a mid round conditional pick.
They'll trade multiple players for multiple drafts picks, and no one on the roster is safe. Ross had a fit over the Jets activity
I'm not really sure we have anybody on this team thats really worth a 2nd round pick that has a possibility of getting traded. We have Ronnie, which has value to us but like said above 2 season ending injuries and expiring contract. Ted Ginn..... Who's really gonna give up anything for a player that has as much of a disappointment as Ginn?? I dont think there is anyway we can get a 2nd for Ricky or Will Allen. Then who?? Were not going to trade Jake Long, Chad Henne, Brian Hartline, or Dansby of course. Just not sure what our options are.
Cobra is just speculating. I don't expect any other trades for us outside of shuffling draft picks during the draft. On a sidenote: where does Marshall fit overall amongst the top wideouts in the league? Larry Fitzgerald and Andre Johnson are the top...does Marshall come in third? Reggie Wayne? Who else is in the discussion?
i've made the argument that Moss (1200yds 13 tds) is still ahead of Marshall (1100 10 tds) until Marshall officially passes him in the stat book. I know Moss is older but the man just hasn't shown it yet.
Well the reports yesterday were that Miami is looking to move down in the draft ... now we know why!!! they knew they were on the verge of trading for Brandon Marshall ... i'd be estatic if the move down from #12 ... IMO the strength of this draft is round 2-3 ...
I think Ronnie starts as a 1st round value, but then you must factor in his injuries, and the soon-to-come contract payday he'll want. Those lower him a round, in my opinion. Because this is a very deep draft, I think you get no more than a low 2 for him or high 3 this year. If you look at 2011 picks, you could get a high 2nd or late 1st. Just my opinion. I think it might be easier to work a pick and a player into the deal. Perhaps a team with a somewhat young linebacker with lesser potential than Brown, so we could get a decent LB prospect and a 3rd round pick in exchange for Brown? It's really the destination (who wants him) that will determine our recompense. What will that team have to offer?
To get extra picks I too am a fan of trading down in the first and picking up a 2nd rounder. This draft is deep so I am sure one of the guys they really like will still be there even if we do trade down.
I think when you get to that level your sort of splitting hairs. However I don't think Marshall shuts it down like Moss does. Also I think Marshall is a better over the Middle receiver and Moss is a better deep threat. Like I said splitting hairs.
This would offset any happiness i have from the Brandon Marshall trade. We need to keep ronnie and focus on the D now.
IMO he's third. I think Moss has dropped and while CJ has more potential he hasn't done as much with it yet. I think there are very few guys who can dominate a game to the extent that Marshall can. Guys like Wayne are excellent and great WRs, but Marshall is above those guys.
we only have a few players worth trading ... Pennington or Thigpen (and i really hope Thigpen stays, but as i have been saying - this FO wants to win NOW, and CP represents some measure of security) Smiley and Carey (Smiley is on the block, Carey isn't -- and probably won't with the desire to win NOW and unknown is Gardner) Camarillo and Ginn (not sure what we could get for either) Crowder (but doubt it as there isn't a replacement in the fold -- at least not yet) W. Allen (but doubt is as he also represents some measure of security) We just don't have the talent to pull off any significant trades ...
The only other trades i want to see is us trading down with the cowboys or texans and/or trading Ginn and Cam
We know that only 3 of the 4 QBs will be on the roster. My guess is that Thiggy is the odd man out, although, I agree with you that I'd rather keep him and move Penny out... We can only hope for a big-name QB to go down, ala how we had Penny fall into our laps...(not that I want any player to really get hurt). We know that Smiley is on the block and that could be a draft day deal to move into the 3rd or even the 2nd round using a later pick and Smiley. Carey won't be going anywhere for the other reasons you mentioned... Cammy and Ginn are the real questions...Ginn could become a very productive WR for us with BM. He does have the one thing that can't be coached and now will not have any pressure on him having to be the "go-to" guy. Cammy is a steady, productive WR and should garner some interest as someone's #2 or #3...I think he might be a good complement to Dwayne Bowe in KC...but that's just me....But I'd guess that one of these two is certainly gone, probably sooner rather than later... Unless they jump on RoMcLain at #12, if he's there, I don't see Crowder going anywhere. One thing that he has going for him, is that he's been more productive when he wasn't the focus of the LBers. He won't be any longer with Dansby and possibly a draftee at OLB (#12 ). Will Allen also won't be going anywhere. First he's a little older (31), coming off a serious injury, and a proven commodity. If Smith or Davis backtrack from where they left off last season, having him to put in one of their places would be quite advisable. Brown has been mentioned as 'on the block', but again, after finally getting a bona fide #1 WR as our major playmaker, I don't see them moving Brown just yet. Also coming off a major injury, that may take some time into the season for full recovery pretty much limits what they can get for him right now. Afterall, he won't be traded at all between now and the draft as he's still recovering from that Lis Franc injury... You're right about 'not really having a lot of talent to trade'. Options are limited, but even for lower round picks, I see one or more moves between now and the end of the draft...most likely, during the draft...remember that there will be more time for teams to work out draft trades this year with the new format of 3 day drafts...
If you move Brown who is your RB? Ricky? He's clearly not the same back and has stated numerous times he dosen't want to be the featured guy. I don't see benefit unless they are determined to land Spiller. Also, what is the source for this talk of more blockbuster trades by the Phins? Dreams from Cobrajets afternoon siesta?
It can't be speculation if it has just been leaked to the media after I said it.... http://www.ffmastermind.com/quickbits.php#194841 "- - Dolphins Willing to Trade Anyone -- Tue Apr 13, 2010 --from FFMastermind.com The Sun Sentinel reports in their effort to stockpile picks in advance of a deep NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins are willing to talk about almost anyone on their roster. According to a Dolphins source, the team is "trying to pick up more selections in rounds two through five, and everyone is in play."
Then I stand corrected....but the results will be the same. Myself and Shulaboy were way off when we told everyone to expect a huge trade yesterday weren't we? Check the board.....just dumb luck I guess....
Plus that is just restating what the front office has said since they began their tenure here. That everyone is always available for a trade if the price is right.
You mean the Shula boy whose original post insinuated that we would be trading OUR players and never even hinted that we would be bringing in a player, much less the caliber of Brandon Marshall? The guy who claims to be related to someone on the staff, yet can't be bothered to spell "Lombardi" correctly? That guy? By all means, continue to portray yourself as some sort of insider despite the infinite amount of threads reporting that just about everyone is up for grabs on this team over the past couple of days. No really, I cancelled cable, so this is highly entertaining to me to watch this... Oh, and I no longer like you.
