Our best players are Jake Long, Karlos Dansby and Randy Starks. Trouble with Ronnie, as others have said, is injuries. He's played, what, one complete season to this point. It was minor stuff in '05 and '06. In '07 it was the knee and last season the foot. Both pretty serious. If we could count on him being more durable, then a 2nd would be too little value. The FO knows we most likely won't have him for more than one more season anyway. Better to get something you could use in a deep draft rather than next year getting nothing as he walks away. That said, IMO, we won't trade him at all, because no one will give a 2 or better straight across.

Well, sort of, losing a JT and Ronnie Brown would mean a Dolphins team with no stars on it, it could possibly create a better football team..2 yrs from now, but who is going to come out to watch the utterly no name Dolphins?

I mean really, "Jake Long"? Who is going to pay hundreds of dollars to watch a Left Tackle play...

If RB had more years left on his contract then maybe someone might bite..... I just can't see anyone wanting to spend a high pick and then be forced to give him a big contract to hold onto him.

Personally I'd keep him one more year to keep the unit intact so that we can deal with running back next season....

Keep him for this season. Then franchise him, and trade if possible. But I dont support giving him a long term deal.

and thats the thing you are no way getting that, we just saw Holmes go for a 5th, in a walk year just like Brown.....Holmes has character issues....Brown has injury issues....all the samething IMO....they both do not allow you to play...

The fact that both have durability issues is a moot point in all of this. The real reason not to make such a trade is because one is an actual running back (Brown) while the other isn't (McFadden.) The only players I ever see go down quicker than Mcfadden after 1st contact are quarterbacks. You might as well throw Ginn in at scatback if you want a player like Mcfadden in the backfield. They're basically the same player at different positions.

why would anyone take next year if we franchise him vice this year .... there just isn't a good reason to do that if you were another team.

i think RB is more valuable right now -- then he will next year .... i think we will use the WC less, and of course - unfortunately, someway - somehow ... RB will get injured.

We should revisit this thread in a few months when Ronnie is shredding D's and scoring TD's with Dez Bryant running the field and demanding at least a few double-teams and the D to be honest...

I think RB should stay our RB, unless the deal is too good to pass up. He is the heart and soul of the wildcat and is far too important to us. I can't believe they are even floating this idea. Surely it must be a decoy move.....

    I call shenanigans.

We had a enough backs after Ronnie went down. Yet, instead of using them the decided to go to an untested young QB when the season was still on the line. That points way more to Ronnie, with his talents, being the key to Wildcat.

McFadden had 2.4 and 2.1 yds after contact average the past two seasons. That placed him in the lower middle of RBs in 2009. 38th out of 61 ranked. He was very close to the bottom in 2008, 57th out of 63. You know who was worse last year though? LaDainian Tomlinson. The Jets cutting Thomas Jones to sign him was a good move...for us.

I believe the rumors are true for a few reasons. In a deep and very talented draft like this if we wanted to score more picks what is the biggest player of value to deal? The only one that comes to mind is Ronnie Brown, one of my all time favorite Dolphins.

I'd agree to trade Ronnie for three 3rd round picks in this draft and two second round picks in next years draft. An established, multi-use RB like this would be worth it. Just look at it as a mini Hershel Walker trade.

If we are gonna deal him away lets ask for the world and have a far better team afterward.

That would at the very least work out to trading Ronnie for the 7th overall selection. Not going to happen.

you 'might' be able to get 2 picks for him ... a mid this year ... and a mid next year ... that would probably be about it .....

we very badly want more picks in rds 2-5 .... and the likelihood that the WC will be used less this year, trading RB is a good idea.

I was only kidding guys :tongue2:. I don't think Jim Brown would have been worth all that (well ~ maybe).

Seriously though, I give them Ginn, and Brown for two 4th rounders this year and a 6th next year. The only issue with this actually working out is that you need someone that other teams might want. Ginn, White, Brown and Thigpen are hardly household names outside of the Dolphin faithful.

RB is the most interchangeable position in the NFL. The NY Giants proved that when the won the Super Bowl without Tiki Barber

    respectfully disagree about RB's

    (unless you are talking about
    the use of tandem backs)
the quality of the run game
    sets up the passing game
the offensive line is the key

    everything begins in the trenches
    having said that
you need talent across the board
    to be competitive offensively

& we have exactly that for 2010

So everyone still think we should trade Brown? I say the Marshall signing just made Ronnie and Ricky's jobs about 10x easier. Now lets see if anyone can stop those two from ramming the ball down opposing defenses throats. I think this just makes Brown that much more valuable
