No team is more unpredictable at NFL draft time than the Oakland Raiders, and no player's draft position has been harder to peg this year than Florida quarterback Tim Tebow. So a report linking Tebow to the Raiders has to be taken with a grain of salt.

But the information from NFL.com draft analyst Gil Brandt that Jerry McDonald of InsideBayArea.com passes along, suggesting the Raiders are impressed with Tebow, is worth noting nonetheless.

McDonald writes that, according to Brandt, the Raiders' coaches met with Tebow and came away impressed with the way he responded when they asked him to break down a play.

According to Brandt, Tebow went over the play and told them, "This is how it's called with Florida, this is how it's called with your organization, and this is how it's called with West Coast teams."

In recounting Tebow's conversation with the Raiders' staff, Brandt said, "I'm not sure if this is true." So maybe we need to take this with more than just a grain of salt. But if the report is to be believed, the Raiders can be added to the list of teams that may be interested in Tebow.

Somehow that feels wrong. In Survivor terms it would be like Russell joining the heroes.

Anyway, the other interesting part of that story is how Tebow is impressing teams with his ability to breakdown plays. I have heard that the Gator offense includes many NFL type reads. Many people question Tebow's decision making b/c of the offense he played in, but IMO it's a strength. And I rate decision making as one of the top two predictors of NFL success for QBs.

Damn straight, and the other one has to be accuracy. I've heard all the yapping about "but he played in a spread offense", blah blah blah. I tend to agree with you- dude had to make a lot of decisions in that offense, and judging by his team's success and his QB rating I'd say that he did a fine job.

I do not bet against Tim Tebow...but many a QB have had great completion percentages like oh,,,,Danny Wuerful, Chris Weinke, etc and it did not work out for them...........Tebow is not an NFL QB...he does not have the arm to make throws outside the hash, he is not accurate in small windows, his delivery is too long, from what I have seen his "new" delivery starts higher at the ear ...... and IS STILL too long, he has little experience with route trees, never had to read a defense coming away from center, never competed against athletes the same level as he is, seldom executed and read adjustments while executing a play fake.....he is a great great athlete and college QB but he has too many limitations to take in rounds 1 or 2........someone will probably and get burned...he is easy to fall in love with in shorts or a suit in front of a GM...and he may be a genius at pre snap reads, throwing to recievers with no defenders in Gainesville in front of scouts or breaking down a defense...........now try it with your back to the defense executing a fake while defenders are making sight adjustments at NFL speed coming away from center with Ndamkoing Suh closing in on you and 70,000 nutballs from South Philly throwing beer cans, batteries, snowballs and anything with that can penetrate the human head at you................it is easy to forget the limitations when watching guys interview or throw against their imaginary friends.

Agreed. They clearly need to replace Russell, but IMO this is better served by trading for Jason Campbell or signing Marc Bulger, and drafting someone like Colt McCoy for the future.

Then again, that's not what Al Davis does.

This is probably why we're now hearing reports of Tebow being pegged as an early 2nd/late 1st pick.

I pretty much disagree with your entire post. As to Wuerffel- I had a battle royale with one of my best friends over him and his pro potential when he came out- dude is a big Gator fan- I am not. That delivery and arm strength had no business in the NFL. Guys like him, Gino Torretta, Frank Costa- major flaws that were too much to overcome. I see Tebow in a far different light- you obviously don't, so be it. Josh Heupel- his drafting proved what a moron Wannstedt actually was (among other boners).

And I would say that Tebow made a lot of great plays and decisions for a guy who never read a defense- I don't know how you came up with that one. We'll see where he's drafted, and we'll see how he does as a pro QB. The rest of this is just getting boring.

    1. Fair enough.
    2. Tebow made a lot of plays with his legs, his decisions were not complicated...UF QB's have a 1,2,3 decision tree and do not pre snap reads and surely do not react to pre snap movement.
    3. I do not bet against Tebow.
    4. Does not matter what our individual opinion is time will tell.............
