I'm thinking Cleo and Beck stay as well . . . I don't think Green will play another snap in the NFL . . . too risky, Cam wouldn't allow it. Green will possibly stay on as a coach, or as a 3rd QB option . . . who knows . . . but I definitely see us drafting ANOTHER QB . . . and Colt Brennan seems to be a guy people are mentioning . . . and with the Hawaii conneciton on this team, it definitely seems possible. I mean we just say Timmy Chang do big things in that system, so its a big question to ask if Brennan is a product of the system. I think it has something to do with it, but I think he is a solid QB also. Do we really wanna throw ANOTHER 2nd round pick on a QB is the question. I mean we are talking about losing the opportunity at a CB, S, TE, OL, LB, WR . . . I mean alot of options there. I have also heard rumors of Grossman comming here, I mean I dunno whats going to happen . . . its so up in the air right now, its hard to even speculate until we see whats up with the GM/HC
Cleo will not be a Dolphin next year, he is UFA. The only way Cleo thinks about staying is if he can be guaranteed a spot to start or real competation between him and Beck. In my opinion Cleo thinks he can start in this league and will leave. Trent Green is gonna retire. I cant see him coming back and playing on football field again. So, we are left with Beck only. I think Miami once again will be looking to upgrade there QB position via FA/ Draft. Below I will post a list of Free Agents QBs..... Here are some of the FA QB: Derek Anderson, RFA, Cleveland Browns Anderson has had one of the best seasons in all of the NFL. He’s completed over 60 percent of his passes in six of eleven games, while amassing 2,758 passing yards and 22 touchdowns to just 11 interceptions. While he has the benefit of strong receiving options, he has also done his job well above average. There have been rumors that the Browns may look to trade first-round quarterback selection Brady Quinn. Whether or not the rumors are true, Cleveland can’t afford to let Anderson leave town after the way his play has helped the franchise turnaround. The franchise tag could be applied to Anderson, but the Browns will likely to sign him to an extension before it reaches that stage. Rex Grossman, UFA, Chicago Bears There seems to be debate over Grossman on a regular basis. Many fail to believe that he will ever lead any team to a title, while others argue that he’s still relatively young and has shown flashes of greatness. Regardless of the side you take, there’s something intriguing when it comes to the Florida alum. It may have to do with his QB rating of over 100 in seven games of the season with 148 in week two, and a rating at or below 36.8 five weeks of the season, including a rating of zero in the final game of the ‘06 season. The Bears seem confident in Grossman’s development, and there are certainly teams that would take a chance on a player who took the snaps from center for an NFC Championship team. Given Grossman’s age and the team’s current status, it’s a good bet that he’ll be in Chicago this time next year, assuming he doesn’t implode in ’07. Daunte Culpepper, UFA, Oakland Raiders Culpepper still seems light-years away from the Pro-Bowl quarterback that he once was, but he has had four or five decent outings for Oakland this year, while also solid game manager at times. He completed a season-high 68.2 percent of his passes in a week twelve win over division rival Kansas City. He also totaled 344 passing yards against Minnesota in week eleven. With JaMarcus Russell waiting in the wings, Culpepper would be nothing more than a veteran backup heading into next season. Odds are that Culpepper looks for a starting role for another team. Josh McCown, UFA, Oakland Raiders McCown hit the map with a decent 2004 season while starting 13 games for the Arizona Cardinals in place of the injured Kurt Warner. McCown had the benefit of throwing to some excellent receivers that season, but in ’05 Warner came back to play in a majority of the team’s games. McCown didn’t have the opportunity to build upon his past success. With Oakland, he has a shot at starting, and depending on his play and the team’s play overall, he could stave off first overall pick Jamarcus Russell’s attempt to see action. If McCown has any kind of success behind a horrendous Oakland line, he could see a decent contract from a team looking to take a risk. Other Free Agent Quarterbacks Quinn Gray UFA Jacksonville Jaguars Ken Dorsey UFA Cleveland Browns Ryan Fitzpatrick RFA Cincinnati Bengals Cleo Lemon UFA Miami Dolphins Jared Lorenzen UFA New York Giants Jamie Martin UFA New Orleans Saints http://www.footballsfuture.com/freeagents.html The list of FA Qbs is never to big, and you can't rely on finding a franchise QB via FA. We will most likely draft another QB where I dont know, but look for it to happen. If any QB is signed expect it to be a Backup.
Lemon will come back IMO. Mueller will probably draft a QB in the late rounds or maybe Green will come back as a 3rd string QB and mentor to Beck... I think Green will retire and return as QB coach while Terry Shea is promoted to OC.
How can you guaranteed Cleo is gonna come back. I personally think he looks for another team, one with a winning record and actual shot to start.
Do u honestly think Cleo finds a team to start with? I'm not saying he wont, but what teams do u think would be interested? I think this IS his best chance to start because he knows the playbook and he is familiar with the players. U gotta think if the Fins decide to roll with Beck, Green, draft pick and Cleo, that Cleo would like his chances. Still very much up in the air . . . I mean really, 3 months from now we could be talking about having Derek Anderson as our QB and Chad Johnson as our WR (reaching, but seriously . . . who in the hell knows right about now) . . . I mean 0-16 . . with a cash spendy owner . . . Wayne may just clean house and get nothing but big names in here . . . .
I was speaking more to the coaches and staff when saying that. But in saying that, a new coach may see a guy or 2 he likes in FA and go after them.
I hope we don't pick up a vet. Beck will be 28 which is way to old to be treated like a rookie, he needs to earn his roster spot. My gut tells me we are in for one of the worst years at the QB position we have had, simply because that is just our luck and Beck real has shown little to make me think we should expect much oput of him. I think if we have Ronnie, Ricky and McFadden we will have enough offense to win "a few" games but nothing like a playoff season.
