Bobby Petrino has decided to re-sign from the Falcons and will go coach at Arkansas. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3150783
What the heck is going on. The world has turned upside down when in consecutive years NFL coaches jump ship to college. I don't really get this. Atlanta has had their struggles, but they have some ok players and are in position to get a good QB in the draft. At Arkansas he will have to compete with some of the best teams in college football in the SEC.
Well, it would seem that Brohm is not a lock to go to Atlanta now. First year coach as well..hmm.....
This is actually really bad news for the Dolphins. Unless they fire Cam soon, Atlanta is going to have the first crack at Cowher, Marty, and Parcells.
Wow. I thought he got fair value out of guys like Harrington and Redman. Made Roddy White look good and they looked like they had some promise. Certainly were in a better position than us. Let's hope Cameron follows suit.
if Wayne is seriously considering firing Cam, I would hope he has started the ball rolling I don't think Cowher would come back for a crappy job, but i'll bet we have an edge for Marty I would rather hire Pioli and start over than worry about a HC
man it would be groundhog day all over again if we fire our coach, get ready to track the dolphin jet on the computer guys
yes, parcells lives in south florida to manage his horse racing investments, they play golf on a regular basis, i can see parcells wanting to be a GM and not a coach again, that plays to more longevity for him, parcells loves Jason Garrett, he wanted him to replace him in Dallas, so that would be the likely coach, i honestly feel that with how bad the franchise is right now that parcells is one of the few people to rebuild it
I dont think he was presuming quite as much as he was hoping and praying. Can you blame him? Not me. I know,I know we`ve been down this road befor but I cant help but notice that Cameron is still here and we`re still winless. Not to mention there is absolutely NO light at the end of the Dolphin tunnel. At least not from my realistic angle.
Parcells wanted the job as head coach when Shula retired, but backed off because of jimmy johnsons interest in it, he went to the jets instead
As I keep saying please ,someone, anyone, please give me ONE,just one, SANE reason Cam should be back?He isn't even a good offensive coor.Remember his play calling in S.D.? Take the ball out of L.T's hands. As the beer commercial says BRILLIANT. The whole franchise needs a enima...GM,Coach,MEDICAL STAFF,scouts, everybody start over.GET Parcells for GM.Whats the worst that can happen? ...we not win a game?well guess what?
the team will absolutely turn around with parcells as GM, there is no doubt about it, he has never, i repeat never lost anywhere he went, NE went to the super bowl, Jets one game from the superbowl, and he turns the cowboys around, those players on that team are his
Sometimes I wish Jimmy Johnson was the head coach. He can't immediately fix the defence like he was forced to do when he was first hired, but he did draft Jayson Taylor and Zach Thomas. Without them, the defence would twice as bad (ok not really because they would still have Sam Madison and Patrick Surtain who were also drafted by Johnson). If Johnson was not the head coach, the least he could do is become the GM. I mean, he's 61 but Marv Leavy in Buffalo is like 80.
Ohh I have to admit to being interested in a Parcells GM'd, Jason Garrett coached team. Garrett has 'natural' coach written all over him and I'd like to see a younger guy get a crack at it.
I'd throw money at Garrett to return. I thought he never should've left in the first place. The way he's running the Dallas offense is smart and savvy. That's what you want to see out of a head coach. Not the boneheaded calls Cam makes (even in SD and Indiana, he wasn't exactly making smart play calls).
We may see a similar statement with Cam if Michigan decides he is there guy. I mean its kind of like Saban IMO, and I had no problem with Saban leaving . . . despite what others felt . . . this is a business, and u can get fired just as quickly as u can quit. The problem with Saban was the lying . . . if Cam decides this is not for him, I can peacefully accept that, and we can begin the "Search" for our next experiment. On Garrett, he is very intriguging . . . but I don't know about naming him HC . . . I still rather see an experienced guy in there.
Cower should be offered the job and given full control. GM and Coach!!! Capers the DC and Murlarkey the OC. Joey Porter can then be the leader on DEFENSE!!! Parcels has yellow teeth.
This doesn't surprise me at all. The guy is a snake. While he was here at Louisville he flirted with both Auburn and the Oakland Raiders, not mention others schools that no one knows about but him. He rules his teams with intimidation, which doesn't work in the NFL. Good luck with this one Razorback fans!
This is a little surprise, but I guess it's really tough in ATL right now especially with the media hammering the falcons more than us. As for getting a new coach/gm I am all for it. The ONLY reason (and I mean ONLY) I would be opposed to it is because once we get a new coach/gm we will have to start all over again. The whole rebuilding process has to start over because the new guys will want their guys playing for them. If we get 1 win this season and also hire both a new coach and gm (preferably the Tuna as GM and either Garrett or Cowher as head coach), I will be optimistic going into next season.
i really hope most of you are talking about garrett as a oc not a head coach because hes only been coaching in the nfl for what 5 years i want a winner like marty.
Nobody has mentioned Ron Rivera, Jim Mora JR. and Chan Gailey. One last thing how about trying to snag Mike Shula as OC.....
Mora Jr. didn't fare well in Atlanta. Gailey hasn't done well in college (coughCameroncough) and is better off as a coordinator. Shula as an OC is fine but he's not one to rely on. Ron Rivera would be an interesting candidate.
I wouldn't mind Shotty here. Tuna as GM and Shotty as HC would be nice. Cameron gets demoted to OC. Actually I truly don't even know if I want Cameron associated with this team after this season.
If he's even going to coach for another 4-5 years. Doubt it. Retreads have not worked for Miami, the one thing they have never done is go after the young hot prospect. Garrett will be a head coach within the next 2 seasons. Question is, does Miami make the smart move or do we watch him succeed elsewhere with Miami missing the ball yet again.
Jason Garret would be great, but it aint gonna happen. If he had wanted to stay he could have but he got offered his dream job at Dallas. Thats where he played and that is where HE wants to coach. He'll be HC in Dallas in two-three years. No chance he comes here.
I agree, Wade Phillips is little more than an interim coach while Garrett gets his feet wet. Man that BigD offense is scary right now. Im not all about Ron Rivera either. Word out of Chicago is that the D was mostly Lovie Smith and not RR. Parcells as GM? Wtf? Marty would be an OK guy to bring in for 3ish years to clean up the mess. But would he want to? I dont know. Its a hard situation to gauge. Just hope to god we dont ever go fishing in the college ranks again. They have shown TIME AND AGAIN what they are. Quitters. Any time adversity comes up, they run back to college where someone will throw money at them. Just not worth it. I feel bad for atlanta, I could have told them how the Bobby P experiment was gonna end before they hired him.
