I was just thinking, with Taylor negotiating with the Jets about how many OTA's he can skip, the media in their training camp, and all these big-name players, how well will it all hold together through the season? I hate the Jets, and Rex Ryan is gonna have his hands full this season, but if he can pull it off, my hats off to him. Hopefully, I see a major meltdown coming to NY. Ethan Skolnick of the SunSentinel can see this as a possibility as well: Sun Sentinel Sports
Rex Ryan is definitely gambling. Lot of egos on one team, lot of troublemakers, lot of chances for the house of cards to crumble. But, they're making some of the most aggressive offseason moves of any team in the league. As much as I hate them, I've got to respect it as a football fan.
There's no way they make it through the entire season without at least one incident. Cromartie, Holmes and Edwards all on one team, with the temptation of NYC night life? All while being lead by a coach who hasn't proven to be that much more mature than any of the players mentioned? It's a wrap. I'm predicting another 9-7 season. This time, without a playoff appearance.
Can't get worse than all the DUIs we've been having... At the rate we're going, I see our entire starting corps taking the team bus midway through October... or worse...
the jets started winning games cause they started running the ball more. Acquiring Holmes is gonna make them want to pass more, something that doesn't bold well for Sanchez whom broke the rookie INT record last season. Not to mention, on the steelers, almost every big play that happened occurred because Rapistberger found a way to avoid a sack for 7 seconds.
I hope they meltdown every year. Literally melt. I hope when they are in the team bus, they physically melt and become like puddles of hot chewed gum stuck the seats. Every last one of them. You see I hate the Jets. I hate them with a white hot rage that only their complete and utter destruction can satiate. I do hope they can be cleaned from off the seats though. I don't hate buses.
The funny thing is, Parcells is quoted as saying that this is a "talent acquisition business." And the Jets have done exactly that. We all want them to fall flat on their faces, but the talent they have right now (particularly on offense, lets not forget about LT either) is going to make it almost impossible for them to not win a bunch of games. Although it will be sweet if/when we beat them with young, homegrown talent...and Karlos Dansby.
I think what he's saying is that the Jets are a run-heavy oriented offense and we saw what happened when they tried to be a pass-heavy offense last year. Lack of targets wasn't Sanchez' problem last year. It was decison making. With the game in his hands, the Jets did not fare well. He needs the run to setup the pass. Now, he was a rookie. Will he improve? That remains to be seen.
Targets were a problem. J-co was his only option for a while. And he is a #2 WR on most teams. Edwards came later, but he had Clowney and crap .. Now he has 3 very good WRs instead of 1 and a bunch of crud...
Of course there is going to be a meltdown. The best meltdown of all though is when reality smacks them in the face and they realize they have to actually pay Holmes, Edwards, Washington, Cromartie, Mangold, and Harris all within a year. Jets have mortgaged their future to win now, and it's going to bite them in the ***.
If anything, having Holmes will open up the running game even more, what happens when we have Holmes, Edwards, Cotchery and Keller on the field at the same time, what do you do?
Fatgenius? Thats a new one, lets resort back to fat jokes! Our FO takes that chance with a blowup, but players want to play for Rex, doesnt matter, the Jets are making the off-season exciting for the fans. And with the new stadium this year, this season is going to be great!
But isn't that the general consensus EVERY off-season for the Jets? I mean c'mon, you guys didn't get the moniker "Champions of the Off-Season" for nothing, ya know.
Keller will underachieve as always. Edwards will drop about a handful of passes as always Holmes does worry me Crotchery is a nice complimentary guy, like Davone Bess. Tell me, how many times will Sanchez need to have the offense dumbed down this year? I dont blame him, USC isnt an educational powerhouse.
Wow... talk about gunning for a team. I agree, it is a big gamble, but this is the push to get past the spot we were last year. I have my reservations, but I like the attitude. BZ
