For some reason I remember him being picked too. EDIT: That's when the Saints changed the pick to Austen Lane, right?
I don't see Selvie as any kind of great value at this point. I think he's a 6th rounder at best. LeGarrette Blount on the other hand...
I was wondering why he fell so far. Kudos on getting the BPA he will probably go round 3 so you got terrific value.
Yea, by the looks of it, thats what happened. I had picked for the Saints since their time ran out, and awarded them Selvie. I wasn't aware we were allowed to go back after the fact and change our picks. And the fact that it was changed and no one was made aware of it is kind of bush league IMO.
Yes, but you still can hit CTRL-F on the first page and verify it, yeaterday I thought myself Selvie was picked, but I still checked and found out he wasnt taken...
The fact is Committee selected Selvie but was changed to another player. You think we could get a heads up when someone decided not to want a player? So we know he is still on the board?
It was a slip up. I don't think it's a very big deal. Especially considering we're talking about a guy who will most likely be a 6th or 7th round pick. Now on to the important stuff. Where's Fin-O? I'm ready to make my next pick.
I totally get your point and agree with it... there could have been a heads up, but ultimately i feel you have to check for yourself maybe if i didnt look it up yesterday i would feel different
I got my playmaking Corner who I can groom....he jumps routes and gambles ala Sam Madison. Very happy to have a guy like Verner on this team.
I saw it but I didn't think your allowed to change picks........ I was thinking Selvie was gone. I guess I should have doubled checked...
Dang you Pittsburgh. I'm going on record as saying Blount will be the Runningback steal of the real draft. I think he could actually end up being the second or third best back coming out. I was trying to trade down to get him, just didn't have anything.
He just makes plays. People can say this and that about him but he just keeps on making plays. Big fan of his.
Thats what I thought about Jaruis Byrd last year and why I was hoping he would be a Dolphin, not to say he is in that same class but like you say the "playmaking ability" is what i coveted.
If you look at the actual postings, you will see the Selvie pick still posted... prior to the Austin Lane pick. And like BK said, you shouldn't need to go back and check if you know someone has been picked. Since when do we get re-do's?
Yep. I just think he and Byrd are different because Byrd doesn't have the hips to play cornerback. Verner doesn't have the long speed to play man cover IMO but he could still be an impact corner IMO.
Thanks I had another player lineup yesterday for VO to draft for me but since we was late I had a chance to change my mind
It was no harm when it was a committee pick and it was the last pick of the night. It was changed in an hour... no one had picked before then and NO ONE has complained until now. I'm sorry if some people don't check the damn original post that I update. It takes two seconds to do and it's not rocket science.
I saw the pick was made as George Selvie........ I knew Selvie was off the board or at least I thought he was off..... I just need to know if switching of picks is allowed. I didn't realize how lenient the rules were. I guess thats a good thing. I'm glad this happened now so I know for future reference.
I'm not sure if they did or not, I honestly don't read much that's out there, but I don't think it was hard to imagine because he is very slow flipping his hips and he lacks foot speed IMO.
Why would I need to check back on a pick that I made? Selvie was off the board and no one bothered to let us know that he was released back into the prospect pool. No one has made a stink until now because I would guess that 75% of the league thought he was a New Orleans Saint. And from the Draft rules: 6. If you fail to pick a player for your given time slot and don't give us a bulletin for us to go by, we will be forced to go BPA for your team. 8. Please do not complain if the draft committee selects a player you didn't want if you failed to show up for your time slot OR didn't leave a bulletin. You've been warned.
As long as it isn't made into a habit and there's good reasoning. And of course, it isn't when a bunch of people already made their picks. When it gets past the 2nd round, things will get more chill. Maybe next year we'll just have the rule if you miss your pick, then we skip you... then you can make your pick whenever. However I think that'll be a little too hectic. We'll see.
I actually like that rule. You're allowed 3 skips per pick after the 3rd skip Committee picks a player for you.
Friday, April 9th 4:00PM - 163. Houston Texans Friday, April 9th 5:00PM - 164. Pittsburgh Steelers Since Duss made his pick at 5:55, does Houston have an hour after 5:55?
I loved him on tape because of his tackling skills and ability to make plays around the ball, he looked like Antoine Winfield to me. He obviously had skill and the Bills drafted him about 15 picks higher than most projected.
He probably could have done work in the Tampa 2, ala Antoine Winfield which you note. The Bills mix up their coverages, varying from a Tampa 2 to straight up man. This year they are playing the 3-4 with a single high robber IIRC so they will be asking a lot from their safeties and cornerbacks. They've got the CB's to do the job, I just hope they don't ask a lot from Byrd. I've got this feeling they are going to ask him to do what Rashad Johnson did in Alabama and I don't know if he has the range for that.
After a little research it seems the Bills did draft him with the intention to convert him to Saftey due to the dissapointing Ko Simpson. Smart move.
