IIRC, it was someone else saying he thought Nolasco could walk less than 25 batters.

    Wow, he did say it.

25 is a pretty lofty goal. He probably won't get it.

Well, we can rake. If we get any kind of pitching this year we'll be okay.

I love winning a series against the Mets. Good to see that our bats are alive to start the season. Now lets try and play some defense. GO MARLINS!

I couldn't bear to watch the game after the first two. Did the Marlins actually look competent tonight?

Yes. Finally they put together a solid game. As you saw, the first couple of innings were a little choppy, there were some stupid calls by the officials, but Hopper came in and pitched a solid 3 innings, only giving up 1 hit, Nunez closed, didn't give anything up.. this time. Cantu had 2 doubles, Maybin finally had a couple hits. However, we left a ton of guys on base, which is frustrating, to say the least.

The 2010 Marlins: same as the 2009 Marlins.

Our TVs should dispense Pepto Bismol whenever we tune in to watch.

Or Jacobs... or Lindstrom, or Amezaga. And for some reason Cody Ross isn't playing centerfield.

Reds kicking our butts so far.

Why is it that we suck in the opening game of a series and then win the other 2? This team drives me crazy.

Ugh, Ricky Nolasco kills me. He racks up a lot of Ks, barely walks anyone, can throw for 200+ innings, but he gives up to many XBH.

Hopefully the curse will go away.

In the meantime, it looks like Fredi had a closed-door meeting with Loria and some of the front office guys to figure out the pitching situation. We might already shuffle the pitching roster... hurray. :pity:

I went to the game last Tuesday...

Coggs was really struggling and Veras was awful but the extra innings drama was AMAZING!! Nobody was there...except for the greatest hecklers I've ever heard. Dude was 6'3" 280 with a bbbbiiiigggggg gut,

yes it is, and this summer should be a blast.

Is www,marlinsbaseball.com down ? I can't get on the message board. Is the Black & Teal Marlins board still around ?

Marlins lead the Astros 4-1 bottom of the 5th in Houston.

PS: Goddamn, that Tal's Hill is ridiculously unnecessary/dangerous. Why don't they just add a trap-door in center field as well?

I just don't see how this team will finish above .500 with this bullpen. Beinfest should be out after this year, he has not done a good job in the draft (his 1st round pics have mostly been duds), his FA signings for the bullpen are awful and there just seems to be a total "do nothing" about making the team better.

Its going to be a long season -- no better than 75 wins, if that. I guess Uggla will be gone by Aug 1st, and who knows who else -- Cody perhaps ? :pity:

Yeah Badenhop screwed up tonight....well actually all things considered he wasnt THAT bad. Unlucky with two infield hits, though allowing Blum to triple is kind of wtf.

However JJ did let them back into the game on his own. Kind of.

Teal and Black moved to a new site; www.soflamarlins.com

I visit both but in my honest opinion, I feel that sofla > marlinsbaseball in terms of discussion and knowledge.

Yeah but they need to win these games. Its just going to be interesting to see if they make some moves soon. Loria said he expected this team to make the playoffs -- sorry but thats not happening.

Beinfest passed on Jason Hayward in the 2007 draft to take a guy who was from his old high school, Chatsworth High in Los Angeles, Matt Dominguez, who can't get out of Single A ball. Now the Braves have the next superstar in baseball. Another of his 1st round picks was Jeff Allison in 2005, who has been in drug rehab and jail 3 or 4 times and is still also in Single A ball.

Its time for Beinfest to go....
