perfectly fine... Alen on the other hand... I guess the theft of McCoy at six needed a little balancing act here at fourteen... I LOVE YOU ALEN!! I"m just a babbling fool who doesn't spend enough time with his kids.
I'm going to go ahead and say reach. He has the talent but top 15 pick eh I don't think so but we'll see what happens when he steps on the field.
I have Hughes as my #2 DE on the board after JPP. I can't fault Alen for taking him. He may just be the best pass rusher in the draft. I love him at 14, honestly I thought he would go Top 10.
Wait DE or OLB because I don't think there is a better DE than Brandon Graham. Relentless, powerful, Technique the guy has it all IMO.
Reach or not, I'm not too worried about that. I was ready to take him at six if McCoy didn't slip. He's got what I'm looking for from my weak side end so I was very happy to come home from the Wing House to find out he was available at fourteen. Btw, St-Pierre whipped Dan Hardy's ***! St-Pierre had ten takedowns! I see some Daryl Tapp in him. I don't need Daryl Tapp, I already have him. Besides, I need a weakside end.
Depends on what you want. I see Graham as a better edge setter than a pass rusher. I see Hughes as a better pass rusher than edge setter but I also see Hughes having more growth in the run department than I see Graham in the pass rush department. Either way, I would have ended up with one of them. If Hughes went twelve, I would have taken Graham at fourteen and vice versa.
Yep. You didn't miss much, lol. I can't believe Frank Mir got his *** whipped though. I thought it would be a better fight but Shane Carwin just kicked his ***.
Sebo and I were just talking about this when he offered me the opportunity to deal up. I knew there was no way Hughes would get past Alen, none whatsoever. The only other option would have been Morgan imo. I like Hughes alot too and agree with your assessment VO that those guys are 1 and 2 on my board as well for OLB's unless you think Morgan can play OLB....
nice pick alen agree with graham and hughes being neck and neck. kind of 1a and 1b IMO. Depends if you want more pass rush or more run stuffing
looks like i was wrong about the Giants and Vikes... reckon that trade would have gone down had Haden not been there. Nice selection by the G Men... even though i had them passing on Haden and taking Thomas in my mock... THomas was already off the board here...
Going back to the Graham pick, I saw some criticism of it while I was on my phone on the way home. I love it, honestly. I thought you did a great job Paul. For whatever reason, the GM League popped into my head while I was watching the fights and thought "Jerry Hughes could still be available. Graham is likely to go to Paul because he's going to want to make people believe he's going to take Hughes and then go the other way." Every time I watch Graham, I see a lot of talent. A lot. I watched him all this season at Michigan and was impressed. He plays end but he locates the ball carrier like a quality MIKE linebacker. He does so, so well against zone reads. Some people questioned him in coverage but this is a guy who was an OLB in high school who was asked to move to DE coming to Michigan. And the craziest thing about him? He runs a 10.9 in the 100 meters. Dude is talented. I see a lot of LaMarr Woodley in him and I know many have said that but I think it's so true. Btw, he flashed A LOT of pass rush skills at the Senior Bowl practices. Man I was impressed.
Thanks. I saw your pick and I raised my eyebrows. Not because it was bad, I just thought you'd go with a different cornerback.
He was never going to make it to 15 man, same sorta thing as Hughes, Dolfans love these guys. Heck, I would have given him serious consideration at 13 even. Although, liking the Haden pick, another tremendous value goes off the board.
ive seen about six or seven florida games this year and ive come away very impressed with Haden. He is the top CB IMO and a whole level above the next. Reminds me alot of Vontae. All around great game although he isnt as psycho as Vontae is against the run. I think he's a bit savvier than Vontae however. He doesnt gamble as much. there are still some very good CBs on the board and I was defintiely expecting to make a run at one of them lol.
Its GSP not BSP. Carwin was way stronger but u couldnt tell by the way they looked. Carwin threw several viscous uppercuts in a row that really rocked Mir. Should be a great fight between Lesnar and Carwin. Made props to Dan Hardy for not tapping. He may have lost but he gained alot of respect
Re: UFC - I thought St-Pierre was letting up at times. He could have broken Hardy's arm twice. The first time, I thought he snapped it. Man it was ugly. Hardy was simply dominated. It wasn't even close. I only recall ONE hit that Hardy had on St-Pierre. One total. What's funny was after the fourth round, St-Pierre was walking to his corner and goes "am I doing good?" I just kind of laughed and then at the end, he says to Hardy "Are you made of rubber?". Hardy's arm was bending in all kinds of ways. Btw, BK, here's a quote. http://www.inews880.com/news/sports/Article.aspx?id=200085 Beat him at 3:28 in the first round.
Im not knocking the value as he is clearly the top CB in this class in terms of measureables but he allows too many catches for my liking. I think to a degree it also speaks to the quality, or lack thereof, of the CB's in this class. Not a fan but a good pick for what your team needs.
I don't think he's the top CB but he's good IMO. Agreed. Hardy was a warrior, though he still got killed.
