Starting FF13 just now, it occurred to me, this is a very good, sad, typical FF type song. And that sometimes, the songs in a game can be pretty awesome. Some other good ones, FF7 of course. The song that played at the menu screen for Halo 3 was really good too. Ooooh, and Altered Beast (for genesis)had a bad *** song lol. Thoughts?

Actually, that's not entirely true. I really loved the soundtrack to Xenogears. This track, in particular, is one of my favorites. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tD25_StvAT0"]YouTube- Xenogears Music - The One who is Torn Apart[/ame] Still probably not on par with the ones I listed though.

Hitman series /end thread IMO, Jesper Kyd is mesmerizing and seems to work so well with the gameplay in Hitman that I cant even find anything worthy enough to compare it to. Kyd is to Video game music what John Williams is to film music. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxtLXPIazmg"]YouTube- Jesper Kyd - Vegas[/ame]
Good but not nearly the best. Too many boring tracks. For me it's a toss-up between Suikoden 1, Chrono Cross, and Xenogears. I can't decide between those three, so I consider them all top-tier. Xenosaga Episode III follows shortly thereafter, leading a tier consisting of Actraiser, Suikoden II, Castlevania: SotN, Half-Life 2, Secret of Mana, Wild ARMs, and Ys III. Without a shadow of a doubt, the best and most memorable music in a video game was: Mega Man 2 - Even being 8-bit bleeps and blips, it was fantastic. Lost Odyssey is not only the most underrated game EVER, but also has an incredible soundtrack by the one and only Nobuo Uematsu. If that game was on playstation, it would have been MUCH more popular. Oh I wish I wasn't sidetracked by other games and I can finish the last disc of that game. My only complaint of the game is the loading times are brutal. Definitely one of the best series I know of. It's a shame Konami is content to pull a Breath of Fire and let the series rot. I'm starting to think that Suikoden V was a Hail Mary to save the series via relatively copious amounts of T&A. Looks like it didn't work.
They had an opportunity to help new US gamers find out what they missed on the PS and PS2, because they ported Suikoden 1 and 2 to the PSP in JP, but they never translated it to release in the US. I really think that would have helped gather a little more traction to the game and brought new people to the series.
I don't think a PSP version of anything is going to expand a fanbase in the US. It's tough to get a Monster Hunter-type effect going here. Also, Suikoden 1 is on PSN, but it's the PSOne version, rather than the PSP double-pack of 1 and 2. Hasn't really helped the series' popularity. I think a full-on remake is in order, but then you're investing millions of dollars in a project that has no clear return. I'd be a little bummed out by the move, too, because it would further delay Suikoden VI. So in the end, Konami does nothing.
It's kind of predictable but Final Fantasy 7 and 10 both had very memorable soundtracks that were good, along with the Knights of the Old Republic games. A game with probably an underrated soundtrack is Final Fantasy 11 because it's a MMORPG and wasn't played by as many people. The music in that game seemed to always match the situation and zone perfectly. Started the game in a forest and was greeted by this [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Blfg4okC2nY&feature=related"]Ronfaure Theme[/ame].
There is this game called FlyFF. It is a free MMORPG that I used to play alot. One of the best parts of the game is the battle music in the maps while you are grinding out and leveling: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJFQ5kckU5A"]YouTube- FlyFF: Darkon1-2 Battle Theme[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zTv_1QtPyk"]YouTube- FlyFF: Darkon 3 Battle Theme[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qp1QO4fWqM"]YouTube- FlyFF: Saintmorning Battle Theme[/ame]

I almost posted that song Frumundah as one of the best. That with Hymn of the Fayth and Suteki Da Ne just stuck with me long after the game.

When I go to a nightclub, I always go up to the featured DJ and ask him to spin something from Zelda. The girls go wild when they see me acting like Link.
