I went online for about 3 hours on Friday night and it was very active. I got in a large game and it was always full. Positives: The servers are awesome. Almost no lag and finding a game is fast. Negatives: I totally suck. I don't feel comfortable. The controls are just different enough from MW2 (and all the other Call of Dutys) to make it a pain in the *** for me. If you loved the beta then get it. You'll have no issues finding a game online.
I'm open to playing it anytime...I've just been busy with God of War lately. I barely have been able to keep a 1-1 k/d ratio but it's still fun as ever. I've played online a bit but things seemed sort of empty to me as most matches were 6 or 7 players per team but the last time I played it was when FFXIII came out so that may have been the reason.
Yeah I do think that people have been playing some other games, its hard for me to tell I'm usually playing on off times here in Japan so I'm not sure why its hard to find full games sometimes. The vehicles just add so much more to the game, the classes are nice too. Graphics are great and I don't have any problems getting into games like I did with COD2, I used to get kicked out of games and have hosts leave all the time in COD2.
I really wanted to, but my history with previous BF games on the PC lead me to be very disappointed by this title. I think buying BF1943 for $15 is a better deal than this because atleast 43 has fully controllable aircraft, something that has been in every BF game except for the BC nonsense. Im going to wait for BF3 I guess. Im sure it will be PC only but at least it will not feel gimped to me due to a lack of depth on the battlefield. I used to have RL friends who played BF with me, and it was too much fun having them fly along in my Su-34, while the both of us drop ordinance on unsuspecting flag cappers....Im sure the choppers/drones will be fun enough for some of you, but I just cant get over such a limited battlefield compared to what I played for years. It was bad enough having to accept the Naval element being wiped out when they moved on to BF Vietnam & BF2, but removing the most essential & player skill based element of air combat was too much for me to get over.
It has to be other games out right now that is taking traffic because from all indications it sold nicely on both systems. Add to that the fact that 1943 and BC1 were getting full rooms when I last played them (a month or so ago) and something is going on. Hopefully they fill up soon because when I was in the Beta with 12v12 battles it was a blast.
so MW2 has gotten on my last nerve and my buddies have all left for this. Can anyone give me some more comparisons between the two games? I hear that it's great, but I'm worried about spending the cash on this if it's one of those play for a week and dump games...
rent it first. dont take other peoples words for it. i wouldnt even waste money renting half the crap that other people recomend to buy.
Not a bad idea at all to follow Ultra. I gush over Battlefield: BC2 but it won't be for everybody so make sure to rent it first. I went off the hype and got MW2 and let's just say I wish I had rented it first.
I think most people that bought MW2 wished they rented it first I do feel I got my monies worth out of it though, I think I'm up to almost 7 total days played on the counter.
You sound just like me. However, I've always been a huge fan of BF though, much, much more so than COD so know how the game goes. I would recommend you rent it first as it's quite different than COD, and will take some getting used too after playing COD for so long. Overall it's just a very fun game. The conquest game mode is hella fun. Love getting a group of 4 and playing squad DM, and rush is pretty fun as well. This game is much more about teamwork than COD is, and that's a huge plus for me. I love the classes. Love the huge maps. Love hopping in tanks and helicopters. The game is more slowpaced than COD, but I like that. More realistic as well.
If you can rent it first i would, i am enjoying it just for the fact there are no guys lunging 20 feet with there knife as i shoot them, the vehicles add to the game alot also, Plus having the destructable enviormant means you can't just hide in a building.
Those of you who are in the fence about buying this game: http://www.overclock.net/online-deals/698774-ea-store-bf-bc2-19-95-a.html $19.95 at the EA store. This is for the PC version. It works too! Downloading it as we speak.
I never played any of the other BF games so I'm not comparing it to those. I'm comparing the multiplayer to games that are out now like COD2 and MAG, its better than those. Sorry if the game doesn't have the stuff you want, me I'm enjoying it, its an amazing game. I don't see why games need to ape themselves in the sequels, the other games are out there to play if you like the older ones.
Thats exactly what Im doing. I still play BF1943 on the 360 because it still offers that missing element of game-play I covet so highly. I kind of understood why they moved away from the Naval element, but limiting the air assets to choppers & drones to me was completely absurd. The game just simply cannot offer the style of play it's predecessors did, and TBH the limited number of players per map is another issue thats hard to accept. Battlefield has always lived up to its name, with large scale battles. Bad Company(2) limits the amount of action on the battlefield in favor of playing to a large audience on consoles. I feel it is not necessary and I am skeptical that they dont know how to put their classic gameplay on newer systems. Its just a dumbing-down of the franchise in favor of reaching out for $$$. Hopefully DICE gets back to their roots with BF3, and live up to what made them a success in the first place.
