Trader Joe's is the best. Those of you who don't have them in your area are to be pitied. Nothing there is made with high fructose corn syrup, only real sugar; and everything costs less than you'd pay at supermarkets, despite being generally of better quality. Milk? $5 a gallon elsewhere, $2.67 at TJ's...and that's milk with no RBST, which means you're not drinking pus from the cows' infected udders. Beer? You have a great selection , but if your wallet is light they have Red Oval from Wisconsin; a good, straightforward American lager that tastes 100X better than bud or miller - for $2.99 a 6'r. That's $12 a CASE, for better beer. Up a notch? Simpler Times, another lager, this one with a nice 6%+ alcohol; $3.99 a 6'r. Just a great little treasure, Trader Joe's.
Started as a convenience store in L.A. of all things; grew into a chain of quirky little grocery stores dedicated to carrying only the best, freshest and most natural products, without the price-gouging of "health-food" stores.
i agree that trader joe's has it's uses, (the wine selection is v good and the frozen meals are pretty tasty), but i don't like the people that outright refuse to shop at a normal grocery store because of it. it's not that much better. and as far as total selection trader joes would never rival a mega-chain grocery store, they're not just big enough. i find the snob factor happens moreso with people who shop at whole foods though, less so with trader joe's. But for example, the grocery store i shop at has a trader joes that just got built next door, and the other day while shopping i heard 3 different people 'explaining' to the people they were there with how trader joes is "so much better than this place"... so WHY are you here???!
I work next door to one. I like some of their stuff and get their salsa regularly, still do the majority of my shopping at a bigger chain store though.
I love trader joe's good food, good prices and typically cute girls in hawaiian print shirts. Stuffed pork chops there are awesome.
I have one right by me, I never been in. Its right next to a Whole Foods and that gets most of the business.
I mostly go to the regular grocery store but I still love Trader Joes. They have a bunch of great snacks there but every time I go I make sure to get some Trail Mix.
Love Trader Joe's... one opened up near campus last year and the food/drinks are excellent. Great prices.
WOW people havent been to Trader Joes. Trader Joes have been around forever. Good stuff for health conscious people. Stay away from the Peanut Butter. Yuck. Now Whole Foods market is gonna compete with the bigger super markets. That place is awesome and good. I guess Trader Joes is like In N Out burgers (The Best in the West).
You have great taste In N Out is the best, its not wonder the drive thru line always has at least like 7 cars waiting haha
Trader Joe's fulfills the promise that Whole Foods was supposed to. It has not only good, wholesome, natural foods, but they ACTUALLY TASTE GOOD, as opposed to most of that hippie hay-tasting **** that passes for food at most health-food stores. AND, as a nice side-benefit, everything is priced lower than you'll find it anywhere else, even compared to unhealthy commercial brands. Somewhere along the line, Whole Foods lost its way and decided to cater mostly to well-off yuppies who think nothing of paying $5.89 for a bottle of tea.
In California,Nevada, and Arizona they also have a decent store called Fresh and Easy that have been expanding like crazy,it is really popular over here.
