Only if he goes to a team where he doesn't have to throw or plays in a crappy division. So unless he goes to an NFC/AFC West team or the Jets, I doubt it.

Henne is entitled to his opinion, and entitled to express it. But there is class, and there is crass. This is the latter.

And it's not the first time with Henne.

How many of you, said Rex was entitled to his opinion, when he mouths off. Some of you may have, some of you may have not. A kid is about to have one of his biggest days in his life, it's sometimes better to keep it shut. Michael Vick is not an NFL qb but he's only led ATL to a Championship game. Vince Young is not an NFL QB but he just keeps winning.

Yeah because Henne, a first year starting QB is the reason we were in third place. Never mind the 3 game winning drives he led in the final minute. That means nothing.

    /sarcasm.

Care to elaborate on that? Since Henne has been a Dolphin, all I've heard come out of his mouth were positive things.

I guess technically he restrained himself.
But he said "I'll leave it at that."

    Which basically translates to..
"I don't want to absolutely bury the guy, but I think for a long list of reasons he has no shot."

Think about the last time you used the phrase "I'll leave it at that." It may even speak more volume.

He said something that rubbed some fans the wrong way about Pennington. Some chalked it up to being competitive, some felt he should have kept his mouth shut. I can't find the link but something about taking the starting position from Pennington. It's just one of those things that rubbed some the wrong way. Nothing major, but it surprised some people and those who didn't like Henne already jumped on it

I've only heard Henne say positive things about Pennington. Don't forget, Henne went on record saying he loved him and wanted him back because of what he brings to the team.

The same people crying about what Henne had to say, are probaly the same yucks who put stickers on their cars, that read....Obama-Biden or McCain-Palin, or don't eat meat, or whatever. Nobody cares what YOU think either, pal. YOU just worry about sorting your little papers in your little office cubicle, or not over-dipping the fries at Wendy's.

He just said that he wanted to start this year, or something to that effect.

Hey Chad before you blast anyone else as a starting NFL quarterback lets see what you can do! The Nerve.. Honestly CHAD hasn't proven hes an NFL quarterback no one does until they play 3-4 years at the position. So many 1-2 Year QB's fade out and no one is saying CHAD is the man yet.. In Fact his coaches even said it's open...

So Henne should be ashamed that Tebow was 'better' than him at a lower level of football? I'm not quite tracking here...

Chad is a starting NFL QB. End of story.

I'm glad Chad said what he said. Don't try to bull**** us with your political correctness, say what you really believe. Tebow has done nothing at all to prove he could start in the NFL. Nothing.

Henne, at least, has, and has shown that he can play against some of the best in the League and win.

Tebow is not an NFL QB. With his weaknesses, he may never be.

I guess if Henne had said, "yet," all the Tebowphiles wouldn't be up in arms...

    So was Ryan Leaf.

    Just saying.

He has the right to call our Girlfriends/wives/children ugly too. Doesn't make it right, or classy. It's not about political correctness. it's about class. Tebow has worked his entire life for this day. He has the right to say it, but he SHOULD have refrained.

Let me ask this, was everyone Ok with Rex Ryan saying they made Henne look like Dan Marino? at 12 TDs and 14 INTs Henne is no Marino. Clearly an insult. And clearly true too, as he had a great day. Same thing in my opinion, it's classless in both cases.

I cant imagine Chad Henne trying to put down Tebow, he is too modest.

On the other hand he did do work on the Gators in the Capital One Bowl

  22. Colorado Dolfan

    Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?

4-17 = Ryan Leaf's NFL record. Henne is a starting QB with a winning record in the NFL.

    Better? :wink2:

There is nothing classless about stating an opinion. Rex was *****ing about a team he had just lost to, making excuses. That is classless. You lose to a team, you give them their props.

Tebow has to prove he can run an NFL-style offense before anyone should ever think he might be a capable NFL-style QB. As I said before: The onus is on Tebow to prove his detractors wrong. He hasn't even come close.

...and so what if Tebow has worked his entire life for this? He's a big boy. If he can't handle honest criticism, he needs a different career path.

You bolded the word "prove" in your post yet that is exactly what Chad Henne isn't allowing Tebow to do. inconsistent don't you think? If henne said what you said, I think most people here would argue, sure, that's a well reasoned opinion.

Henne has already decided that Tebow will never "prove" he is an NFL QB.

And you change the topic on your last sentence. I, nor anyone else, had ever made this about Tebow's feelings, or his composure. It's about Henne, and class. Not about Tebow nor his feelings. One's class is not determined by other people's reactions but by one's own actions.

Is any else thinking that the Dolphins QB coach should be spending more time with Dolphins QBs. I know he coached him through the Senior bowl week but that better be it. How about putting in a lot of time with Pat White.

Lets stop with the he was asked a question and he gave an opinion nonsense. Henne was a little out of line and should have given a more diplomatic answer. It is a scout's job is to determine ability, an NFL QB's job is to win games.

Henne has a lot to learn as well, he is far from an authority on sustained NFL success. If they are ever teammates, how does this remark benefit Henne. I don't know why any player would publicly disparage another. Fun trash talk is one thing, but this comment, for me, is beneath a starting QB in the NFL.

And without two run backs by Ginn and a defensive TD by our guy JT he wouldn't be that winning (7-6) QB now would he?:wink2:

I like Henne and what he has shown so far, on the field, but at this stage he is far from being the next Dan Marino and sooner or later he will be measured against Danny. So a little less crass talk and a little more nose to the grind stone will do more to help his game than a boast about beating TT in a college game. Past sucess is no guarantee of future preformance and while that is true of Tim Tebow it is just as true of Chad Henne!

I couldn't think of a more irrelevant point. No QB would have a winning record without team support.

Tebow is not his teammate and he's not about to face him next weekend in a game or something, so let him voice his opinion. It's not like he was pouting about a loss like Rex Ryan or Bart Scott. If they get stomped by a Tim Tebow led team I'm sure they'll take their medicine. Tebow has a lot more to prove at this point than Chad Henne. I know Tebow loves to have a good cry but if one man's opinion is that relevant to him, the NFL is probably not a place he should be.

If you're going that route, I could say that with a better defense, Henne could have had an even better record. Henne did enough, in most games, to lead the team to victory. ;)
No one here is saying Henne is defintely "The Man." (At least I hope not!) But he has proved more in the League than Tebow has.
Henne didn't call a press conference to bash Tebow; he was asked a question, and he gave his opinion. Not classless, not crass. Not the "nice" thing to say and certainly not PC, but definitely his honest opinion... ...and not exactly an unpopular opinion. There's more than a few people that believe that... Many of them, shockingly, have never played a down in the NFL...

brb, gonna try out for the Broncos so I can express my opinion about football players. :wink2:

  32. Colorado Dolfan

    Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?

Henne doesn't have to allow anybody to do anything. So, no, I don't believe it's inconsistent. If someone thinks Tebow has the goods, he'll be given the chance despite what Henne or anyone else has to say on the subject.

He did? Chad said, "he's not an NFL quarterback." That's present tense. Doesn't say anything about the future or about how Henne feels Tebow might improve or can't improve.

My bad... I had read a post where someone stated exactly that and thought it was in this thread. :pity:

But... An opinion can not be, in and of itself, classy or classless. It ALWAYS has to do with perception and reaction. If Henne had just gotten rolled over by Tebow and said what he did, I'd say that it was classless. As it stands, he was asked a question and he gave his honest opinion. It's not the "nice" thing to say and it's not PC, but it's not exactly an unpopular opinion.

Yes, but we're just talking about Henne's conduct. I think it classless. He has the right, I've already said that. But as a human being, I think sometimes saying something that is right, is still wrong. That's all.

If you want to take it that literal than why even say it? of course he's not an NFL QB yet, the draft is in April. Chad made his statement as a determination of Tebow's skill, past present and future.

    All good brother :hi5:

It's not the opinion I have a problem with. It's the conduct. I just thought it lacked a little class. Do unto others ... you know how that goes. His response lacked class. That's all. I mean, Vince Young and Michael vick have shown non-prototypical QBs can play in this league.

Hell, I don't think Tebow will be a good QB in the NFL. I agree with Chad. I think he's right. I just don't think he should have said it. Again, it has to do with class. If 32 QBs had said Chad couldn't play in the NFL because he stared down his receivers, I bet you he wouldnt have been happy!

Again, I dont' have a problem with the opinion. "I'll leave it at that." We all know what that means. It's an insult, and he knows it, and he doesn't want to elaborate for he will get in trouble or cause controversy. And his comments today just reinforces what I think. Oh well, give it another day and it'll fade away from the public

I love Chad Henne and what he brings us. I love that he's passionate about his alma mater, however, sticking his nose in at Tebow is not exactly in his field. I believe in the old adage that if you can't say something nice, don't say anything. That said, a "I'm not really in a position to analyze him" or something along those lines would have been better. How would he really know what kind of player Tebow is ?? I mean, from that perspective he has no better opinion than any of us on this board. Him being a player doesn't make him a good player evaluator. This probably stems from something Tebow said to him on the field somewhere along the line, not really Tebow's ability.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with what he said, just that he could have used better judgment in the words he chose about a soon-to-be peer.
