My god, and people were complaining about B Marshall's attitude? At least he can articulate a sentence and conduct himself well in an interview. This is just sad, i say no thank you to Dez Bryant.
While I want to go Rolando McClain/Earl Thomas @ 12, I have to defend Dez. Some people just aren't good in the media.
How about this interview? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBO2-do2Vng"]YouTube- WR Dez Bryant Highlights/Lowlights 2009/2008 Oklahoma State[/ame] or this one? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sXYiZjT038"]YouTube- Dez Bryant 2008 - 2009 Highlight Video[/ame] ??
Actions speak louder than words. What he can do on the field is more important than his articulation.
oh really? are we drafting a public speaker, or an athlete? I think Bryant speaks perfectly fine. I understood everything he said.
Well, Johnson doesn't have to do things like learn routes, so it doesn't particularly matter if he talks like Chappelle's version of the Ying Yang twins.. Though that would work really well for Dez B.."43 power flag yellow zebra split" "Okaaay!!!"
Hes 20 people... basically a kid.. and some people mistake a southern accent for a lack of education or intelligence..very wrong.
He said in his interview that his friend clocked him at 4.47. So he's a 4.5 guy which isn't bad if he has football speed.
I could give two ****s what he "sounds" like... ever heard Bill Parcells speak? He can play. Don't care about anything else, especially his ability to "properly conduct an interview"
Funny thing is how genuine he sounds, and people are knocking him. This is a POSITIVE for Dez. Doesn't "sound" like a bad guy at all.
A lot of guys thought the same thing about Vontae Davis because of his voice...and then he scored a 33 on his Wonderlic and has many times, during Aquavision interviews, mentioned that studying film is what allowed him to make certain plays here and there. He was also a player with "character concerns" last offseason, and we took him in the first round. Not saying Dez Bryant is "smart" or "not smart" (nor do I care all that much) but, you never know.
he's not exactly a brain surgeon, but that's not required for the position. if we're going to invest in a quality receiver at some point, this is the best time to get a player of his caliber...right when he enters the league. he's moldable and could learn good habits right away. if he falls in our lap at pick #12, i say we pull the trigger and draft the guy.
It seems to me that the people knocking this interview have spent very little time around NFL players. After hearing this I have almost no doubt that our FO came out of their interview with a very positive impression of him.
If he is there at #12, I really hope we grab him. He is big, tough, physical, and seems to have some wheels. The guy gets YAC. I just get this feeling he is going to be great. Brandon Marshal type receiver.
You can tell he isn't stupid by how quickly he responds to the questions...he's not pausing to think about the questions. To me he sounds hyper aware of his own slang and is trying hard to be articulate because he is on the radio. Man i d like to see a playmaker on offense. The trickle down would have way more impact than only addressing the defensive needs. a. take the pressure off the rest of the rec core making the more effective b. nobody says this when they debate offense upgrade vs. defensive upgrade but if we stay on the field longer with our offense, obviously the defense will be on the field less and the associated issues will have less chance to bite us in the ***. Ill be pissed if hes still on the board and we pass him up
I don't see the problem? I have heard a lot worse from veteran NFL, NBA and MLB players. He sounds like a young guy doing an early morning unscripted interview. He doesn't sound like a gangsta, or someone with a big ego and he comes across as sincear and honest. He sounds like he has his priorities right and is honest enough to admit his mistakes and not try to make excuses. IMHO I don't think he comes across bad, inarticulate or stupid, but young and trying to think out each answer as he is asked the question.
Yeah, I gotta agree there. This is a non issue in my book. Some of the interviewer's questions could have been pretty uncomfortable for him, but I think he did alright with them. That being said, I'm not just gung-ho for Dez. I'm gung-ho for any of the top five guys we've been talking about lately. Brandon Graham, Jerry Hughes, Earl Thomas, Dez Bryant, and yes, even the enemy CJ Spiller (once he takes off that ****ing Tigers uni). Any one of these guys in a Dolphins uni will thrill me.
Not to mention it would pull extra men out of the box on run defending, opening our running game up more also.
