what does that tell you that Ginn is slightly better than Roscoe Parrish?

He'll be leaving one of two ways:

We will upgrade the talent at WR and he will be replaced or...

We'll continue to ignore the need, it will blow up in their faces, the fans will revolt and the FO will offer Ginn as a sacrifice..

His hands were NEVER a problem before that 5-6 game stretch this year.

He finally showed he could get separation and become a real WR in this league - so if he can get his confidence back he should be solid.

People love to speak in hyperbole about Ginn, it is incredibly frustrating, but if you watch the last few games he had a nice catch or two in each. When we were down against Houston they went to him repeatedly and he came up with plays (he went up and over the defender to come down with one ball and had the TD nullified by penalty).

It isn't ridiculous to think that as he is finally rounding into a WR in terms of routes and gaining separation, if his hands come back to being average he could be a very solid WR for this team.

The difference is........one of them stepped forward and appears to be on the way up and the other is basically hanging onto a roster spot by default and wishful thinking.

I think you way over exaggerate what you see in him....an occasional flash here or there does nothing to help this team.

    You can't be serious?

Now I've been one of the Ginn haters, but I am willing to give him a 4th year to see if he and Henne can really create some chemistry and make some big plays happen. Like some of you have mentioned, I think a number 1 WR will definitely make it easier on Ginn.

Regardless of his impact in his first 3 years, teams still acknowledge Ginn when he steps on the field if nothing else but for his speed. Line up a true #1 across from him and D. Bess in the slot, and defenses will have to really respect the potential big pass play.

Just my 2 cents. Maybe giving Ginn another chance is a combination of both the fear that he becomes a solid receiver on a different roster, and that he just needs that chemistry with Henne and a number 1 WR.

Good enough that Sparano wanted to sign him.
Good enough that Parcells wanted to sign him.
Good enough that Ireland wanted to sign him.

Who could I possibly be talking about? How about Ernest Wilford.

Good enough that Sparano wanted to draft him.
Good enough that Parcells wanted to draft him.
Good enough that Ireland wanted to draft him.

Patrick Turner or Pat White, take your pick.

The point is that these guys aren't infallible. Just because they're hanging onto Ginn doesn't necessarily mean its the right move and that those posters with opposing opinions of personnel decisions are wrong.

The problem with that is all you have to do is get physical with him on the first series and he folds the entire game.

I promised myself that I would not spend another offseason defending Ted Ginn, but he and Parrish are not even close to being the same player.

There were games last season where Parrish was not even activated, that has never happened to TG.

Well, for me the bloom is off the rose for TG, not that I hate his game, but rather in my mind he is a #3 Wr with Hartline being a #2, let Ginn do what he does, return kicks, get open deep, and do not rely on him for much more than that and TG will make me happy moving forwards.

Bess is slow and quick. He does a good job but he is not a good WR. Hartline showed potential but is not good either. Those guys are average @ Best.

he has the speed of Hines Ward while being 3 inches taller. Hartline has potential to be a pretty damn good receiver.

you lost me there. If you're saying that Parrish is on the way up, and that Ginn is barely hanging onto a roster spot, then you're wrong on both counts. Parrish hasn't done jack ****. He caught all of 3 passes in 2009. Rising star my ***. He has never caught more than 35 passes in a season. And to say Ginn is barely hanging to a roster spot, that's off. Ginn would make this team even if we only carried 3 wide receivers. The coaching staff is being patient with him. They havn't given up on him. Tony Romo took a long time to groom. When the time is right, Ginn still has the ability to be a big time playmaker. If you don't believe me, then think how many teams would be after him if we released him. You're damn certain that every team in the NFL will take a minute to think about what he could do for them. And about a dozen would contact his agent.

If you were saying that Parrish is barely hanging to the roster, and Ginn is on the way up, I'd say you're right about Parrish, and wrong about Ginn. Until Ginn shows that he is what we think he can be, there is nothing to go on. He has the potential to become the guy he was at Ohio State. But we can't force Chad Henne to be as good as Troy Smith. After all, he is from Michigan; and he never won the Heisman.

It seems we've all forgotten Trent Dilfer was the quarterback. I'm not sure but Henne has more yards at this point I think. Mark Schlereth is the best QB on set when they comment together.

If anybody were to use the Ravens to argue that a team without a QB should not bother to get one they'd be laughed out of the room. (95% of SB winners had a pro bowl level QB). But the same argument is used against getting a WR even though something like 84% of the SB winners had a pro bowl level WR.

I think I'm instituting a new personal policy, if I see Ted Ginn in a thread titel, I will not read that thread. I will let the FO decide whether to give him another shot, if they do I hope he makes us proud, if he does I'll be happy, and surprised.

Not to knock this thread, just so sick of the Ginn discussions, time to just see what happens if he gets on the field next season. End of story for me.

you have overly high expectations if you think hartline should be on wards level after just one season.
hopefully we can all agree hartline played his butt off as a rook and move forward from there

    Go back Last couple years:

    Saints: Marques Colston
    Steelers: Hines Ward
    Giants: Plaxico "Buckshot" Burress
    Colts: Reggie Wayne
    Steelers: Hines Ward
Three Patriots Teams: HOF QB doesn't hurt

Only the Bucs and Ravens in the last few years have been able to break the mold. The thing is, the teams with good QB's and WR's are all still pretty good. The Bucs and Ravens went through seasons of crap after their wins. Defensive magic is only good for one season.

Hartline is also a nut, Hartline and couple of Dolphins players were trying to drum up donations for Haitian relief and the parking lot was empty..

So Hartline went out into the middle of the Blvd in front of Dolphins Stadium and started dancing...when people would ask him what he was doing he would point them to the donation collection effort..

    Dude is a trip..:D

As for TG, treat him like one thinks about Jason Allen and he won't disappoint.
