Ryan Miami could work a deal with Indy and maybe part with our second or next year 1st.

No but you do want a guy that will be aggressive and fill the hole in run support. You do want a guy that will drop the hammer when the opportunity presents. How many times have we seen W. Allen wiff on a run play? You want that being the last line of defense?

For what it is worth if I had to chose a player to move it would be Vontae, he has great range, speed, vision, and loves to hit! So much so that was a negative about him in the draft, sometimes to aggressive. His abilities are better suited for FS then W. Allen or Smith.

I am thinking we are going to need that second for either a NT or a WR, maybe even OLB depending on what we take in the first round. I am all about improving by signing players who don't cost us picks, I just don't want to part with a high pick. Plus if the FO didn't go after Boldin for a 3rd and 5th I doubt the go for Bethea. Not to mention contract wise Bethea will want Agotwe money.

If we kept Nate Jones I would consider that an option. Not really a good one but an option non the less. Being that hes 31 and never played the position before [to my knowledge] and that we are already short a corner back doesn't exactly scream viable option to me. As for moving one of the rookies that doesnt sit to well either because they both looked good and showed improvement throwout the season. I would much rather watch them continue to grow into the top CB tandem in the NFL.

I like the idea of signing a FS that's not going to cost us a draft pick and that's going to buy us a year or two. In the mean time we draft a young FS or place our eggs into our current young safety basket.

PS: Screw Clark and the horse he road in on.

I wouldn't be upset with Thomas, but IMO its worth it to move up for Berry.

I agree and, more importantly, I think the FO agrees with flynryan that spending money on Atogwe is preferable to sending a first round pick to Indy for Bethea. I'd also prefer to sign Atogwe over spending our first round pick on a safety. The NT, WR, and OLB positions would be better addressed in the first 3 rounds if we could get a safety signed in free agency.

First of all, I hate the idea of moving a corner to safety. Hate it.

Secondly, I hope we make a serious run at Atogwe. I love the way he plays and I rather go OLB or NT at 12 than safety.

yeah I'm kind of with this strategy. Let Will Allen, Culver and Clemons battle it out. I think we have our FS already. Clark was merely insurance. Clemons should be better than last year, Will Allen should be able to make the transition and Culver has been alright. We wont have a stud but we should be alright

no you dont have to be a big hitter to be a good FS but if people want you FS to tackle you wont put sean smith back there he would be the worst tackling FS in NFL history and that IMO has a lot to do with why miami hasnt tryed him out at FS he would easly get up to 20 missed tackles in a season if not more

Option B++ Sign Nick Collins to a long term deal. If we are going to give up our 1st as compensation, like we would with Bethea, why not do it with Collins, who is one of the top 3-4 safeties in the league?

Also an Option A, stay put at 12 and just pick Earl Thomas.

Yeah adding Clark would have let us use picks in other area's. With Clark gone and if they don't want to spend on Atogwe, then we need to fill the WR hole with A. Bryant, then draft a safety.

I'd like to give Culver and Clemons a shot to prove themselves. What's a better way than them knowing they could have a starting job? This way they could show us why we still have them on the roster!

Guys, Will Allen isn't moving to safety. He's our best corner (for now) and has been great since he's been here.

I think the pursuit of Clark discloses the kind of safety this team wants - a physical intimidator. Thomas is weak against the run in college and will be a downright liability in the pros. Sharper and Atogwe are both injury risks. Why not get the ultimate backfield intimidator in Taylor Mays? He may not be a centerfielder in the scene of Ed Reed but neither is Bob Sanders. Does that make him any less of a player? I don't think there has ever been a safety come into the league with his atributes. I wouldn't be surprised if he's the target at 12.

That's the thing - Mays won't be there in the 2nd round. The key to drafting is picking a player in each round that you cannot obtain in the subsequent rounds. Mays is arguably the most physically gifted/intimidating secondary player to ever come into the league. He may not match up one on one with many wideouts or catch many interceptions but he will strike fear in the opposition. It is all part of the attitude we are bringing to the defense. Having said that, the Raiders are known to snatch these guys up and they pick before us.

He erased Wes Welker and covered Moss really well when he had the opportunity. Frankly, I think he's found his natural position as a nickel back, since he's so much more athletic than most slot receivers he can afford to take risks and jump balls with pretty much the entire defense behind him.

I don't get him. Whenever he's on the field, he seems to be very good. I think he's just not a good practice player. And coaches hate that.

Outside of Atogwe the only other FS that seems like an option is Sean Jones.

That could be the case. I also remember alot of talk that he was dumber than a box of rocks. Just seems like a waste of talent. He is big, athletic, and can run. Also seems to have good ball skills.

The thing that also irks me is as big of a Turd I think Satan is, the guy knows his defense and he drafted Allen. He must have seen something.

I wonder if we will now target a safety in the draft. I firmly believe either Berry or Thomas will be there at 12 and feel either can come in and start from day one.

    Say no to Taylor Mays!!

I can see Berry falling to 12. How many players in the last couple drafts have fallen out of the top ten? Malcolm Jenkins was a top 10 pick last year he dropped to 14. Brady Quinn and all his hype was a top ten pick dropped to 22. So it is possibly for Berry to fall, and I'd be super happy if he did.
