Nothing hurt worse than 1985 loss to NE in AFC championship......still believe we beat (again) the Bears in SB.

That was the one that got away.

Nor would we want to. Patrick Willis is a 3 year wonder. Just wait till he hits the dreaded senior slump. :shifty:

I guess it depends on what each individual fan defines as success. If success is winning superbowls we have not been successful in a while and some grow impatient. If success is making the playoffs then we average every other year..........is this success. Not being negative but 22 out of 40 years....?? I would say that is a level of success!!

I would say, in nearly everyway you slice it this Franchise has been a top one in the NFL over its 43 years.

the choice was Ginn or Brady Quinn. We made the right choice. Although I wanted Willis as did others on the old site, we didnt have the need as much as QB and speed receiver. I think we forget what type of team we had back then. Its easy to say pick BPA, but the reality is you take BPA amongst your most pressing needs

made two roster predictions in 2009:
    1) Pennington would return
    2) GinnJr. would not return
if we can pick up a 4th round for him, he's gone

Because I have a different opinion, I'm smoking crack? Not to mention, every analyst/pundit that anyone believes disagrees with you as well--I assume they are smoking crack as well.

Here are some metrics. In a year, in which he was hampered with back and knee problems all year long, he still graded out as the 4th best RT (8th best tackle overall) in the NFL.

    http://www.profootballfocus.com/by_...e=r&runpass=&teamid=-1&numsnaps=25&numgames=1

Vince Wilford is one of the top NTs, if not the top one, but saying that Vernon Carey sucks and isn't up the to the caliber just isn't true. He's a very good RT. In my mind, those two players are a wash.

Where do you come up with that there were plenty of players on the board, Miami had zero interest in Brady in the first round most teams did too which is why Quinn slipped down the board. Can you show a link where Miami only had two players on their list for the first round ? Truth is CaMORON had Ginn picked before the draft even started, and now we are still stuck in the nightmare as long as Ginn is taking up a roster spot on this team.

your (you're) smoking crack if you think Carey is one of the best RT's in the NFL ?

Vernon Carey is an elite RT that can effectively play left tackle if Long goes down

    think about it ...

our BookEnds are the top offensive tandem in the NFL

Pennington would return & compete for the start & GinnJr. would be traded for a 4th round draft pick

we had channing crowder and zach thomas as ILBs. You think ILB was a bigger need than replacing Culpepper/ Harrington? We had Will Allen and Travis Daniels. You think CB was a bigger need than getting speed on the outside when our starting WRs were Marty Booker and Chris Chambers? We probably had the slowest starting receiving corps in the NFL before that draft. The bigger bust pick of that draft was John Beck. we couldve had lammarr woodley, steve smith or ryan kalil

I agree!!! It's terrible the choices the front office has made over the years. Some say why bring up the past? It's because we would not have to spend $43 million bringing in linebackers like Dansby had we taken a guy like Willis. We would not have had to use three consecutive 2nd round picks on quarterbacks (Beck, Henne and White) to try and find our franchise QB had we signed Drew Brees. Now we are still looking for a #1 Wide Receiver.

Point is.....when you make horrible draft choices it compounds and has a domino affect on a team because you waste years trying to turn a player like Ted Ginn into a decent wide receiver.

I'm hopeful Ireland and Parcells will not make the same mistakes made by Spielman, Wanny, or Cam Cameron (who fell in love with Ginn and his family).

Y'all have way to short a memory. Worst draft mistake ever was not picking Ginn over Willis. It was taking Sammie Smith, many, many, many years before. Now THAT was the worst draft pick, IMO, the Dolphins ever made.

Yes but you act like the coaches knew how this would turn out. We can go back everyyear almost and say we should have picked this or that guy. Besides some make this thread what seems like every month and its stupid to talk about the past like this all the time. Fact we should have taken Revis rather than Willis. Your a great poster and a good guy (**** the Phillies tho) so its odd u made this thread. Oh well

to those who think this thread is worthless I say...There are over a thousand other threads to choose from on this site, go find one of them to be a jerk in if you don't like this one.
To me the biggest personnel mistake this franchise made was passing on Brees, not so much with the draft of Fletcher, for which the Wannstached one shall remain in football purgatory, if not burn in the eternal fire,
But the second, or was it the third??? time they passed on Brees and chose to go with the worst QB available in Culstinker.
Passing once in the draft was oooopidstay, choosing Cullpeepee instead was insanity. It's a good thing I wasn't home when I heard that or my wife would have got a new pair of shoes from the cussin jar money.

I don't smoke anything and I think Carey is in the upper tier of RTs today in the NFL. Would have preferred we'd drafted Wilfork though.
