I need a punching bag. Or someone who doesn't mind getting their face wrecked. Today has totally sucked. We sign no one, and release 3 starters from our defense.
I know the feeling about the punching bag! But on the bright side those 3 starters BLOW! Now if we don't get Dansby I will need more then a punching bag!
I thought everyone knew we wouldn't overpay for a 29 year old injury prone WR by giving up a 2nd or 3rd round pick, and I don't blame them one bit. Let him go to NE. Their defense still blows and will still cost them games. Boldin won't fix that. And I highly doubt that the Pats are the frontrunners for Boldin and will land him anyways.
It looks like Boldin is going to the Ravens not the Pats. Offering a 3rd and a 2011 6th or 7th per roto
Bolden to Ravens a 'done deal' According to Adam Schefter... Ravens get: Boldin and a 5th rounder Cards get: a 3rd and a 4th rounder http://twitter.com/Adam_Schefter/status/10046837595
Boldin is gone http://twitter.com/Adam_Schefter Done deal: Arizona trades WR Anquan Boldin and a 2010 fifth-round pick to Baltimore for Ravens 2010 third- and fourth-round picks.
I have to tell you so far I am really dissapointed in our lack of activity in FA. Boldin, Rolle, Peppers, all gone....Dansby would be nice. Boldin would have been real nice though.
I think some people were going a bit overboard in their expectations. If we sign more than 2 guys it will be a shock, and I seriously doubt we may any trades involving draft picks. I expect we are in heavy talks with Dansby, Derrick Mason, Antonio Bryan, OJ Atogwe and Ryan Clark. I dont really think we ever had a shot at either Rolle or Peppers. Both were wanting way to much money.
Really though, out of those who are legitimate targets? I don't want to pay for an old peppers at a position at which we're solid. Rolle would be nice IMO, especially since we dropped Gibril (I think that will come back to bite us in the as...trusting the FO on that one). Boldin is older, often injured and would cost picks, and Dansby is still in the mix. I'm not sure why everyone here was so high on Boldin. He's a great player and 4 years ago I'd have done this deal, but not now. not with the needs we have.
they gave a 3rd, and move backed from the 4th to the 5th. That is not alot. Especially when we draft people like Patrick Turner.
Not worried about it. How many times have we traded picks for players and had it work out for us? Boldin is going to be 30 early on into the season and has a rash of injuries (beyond the face smashing incident). I wouldn't give up anything for him either. Our defensive woes outpace our offensive ones in my opinion and getting someone like Dansby is higher on the priority list as far as I am concerned.
Does this mean he scores the winning touchdown for the Ravens to eliminate us from the playoffs in the 1st round for the 3rd straight time? Sorry, I'm being a little jaded. But 1 playoff win in 10 years will do that to someone. I just can't go through another year of Ted Ginn. 3 releases and he's not one of them. As long as we get Dansby and/or Rolle i'll be happier.
I never understand why people think, well at least he didn't end up a Jet or Patriot. Er, last I check the Ravens are in the AFC and they have a pretty nice QB in Flacco. This move hurts the entire AFC and it made Baltimore get closer to becoming contenders. With this trade, they are now favorites to win the AFC North in my opinion and possibly get the #2 seed. I'm hearing from the Baltimore Ravens board that they're now focusing on bringing back Mason.
We should have. He has shown interest in being here and he is a warm climate player. This is yet another player we miss out on.
A bit?... I swear it's like that every year isn't it?. If we haven't signed the top FA player or players that some target as "must haves" within the first few hours of the FA period then we've already blown the entire FA period. Signing Dansby at this point seems like a very real possibility. Beyond that I can see us looking at who is left once the big money is spent. There will still be some decent FAs sitting there once the dust settles. Then we'll look to the draft.
Dansby is going to be a difference maker for us. I think focusing on getting him under wraps was the right move.
