I was a sure thing, but after playing that awful demo in the PSN market, I think I am backing off on this thing. I didn't experience God Of War 1 or 2, unfortunately, but I was pretty pumped about this game before the demo. It does say "E3 2009" Demo, though. I wonder just how much the game has been improved since then. Probably just not the game for me... I think the game play sucks, personally.
If you don't like the way the demo played you should maybe skip the series all together as all of the GoW games pretty much play like that. Also I would strongly suggest anyone play the first two before even touching this one seeing as this game starts right where God of War 2 left off. That being said...I'm getting it...at midnight on the 16th. I pre-ordered the ultimate edition. Pandora's Box FTW~!

Yep... wanted to go ahead and make a thread for it anyway. I may not be getting this as planned, but I'm sure almost every other gamer will. I don't know. For some reason the demo just didn't impress me. Maybe my expectations were too high? I expected to be wowed in epic proportion in every bit of way epicness can be wowed upon.
Wow, to be that young and that jaded. I have been a fan of the series since God of War 1 and I am definitely getting it. The first game blew me away, the second game was absolutely amazing and everything I have seen in the third game has also looked pretty damn good.
Get it. That's the same demo they prepped for e3 a year ago. They've had months to work on it since. The game most likely looks nothing like that demo.
That's so weird... When I played the demo the same thing happened to me (I'm sure I posted it on here somewhere). To the point where i think I'll get MLB The Show instead. I just wasn't feeling the demo. It felt like more of the same and was really "Meh" as far as I was concerned.
the 2nd game(ps2) held up despite being released during the current gen of consoles being out. i loved the demo, and cant wait for this game. its going to be sick!

well part 2 was more of the same... But it felt new and refreshing. I didnt feel like it was either that much better looking, nor did it do anything to warrant a $60 purchase. MLB The Show - Hour upon hours of gameplay, Road to the Show, a bazzilion teams, best baseball game (arguably ever) God of War 3 - More God of War, quick time killing, bigger bosses, for 10 hours.
Funny, that sold me on God of War 3 :P Still baseball is boring to me. Best baseball game is like saying, "Best root canal". I am sure the root canal is a good thing, however I am not going to spend my entertainment dollars on one.
Not saying I wont play GOW3... And chances are, once I see it on a store she;f I'll be too weak to not buy it. I'm just agreeing with HD that the demo didnt do anything for me... Actually had a negative effect on me.
It is interesting how things go. When these graphics were first shown people did not believe it was the game and thought it was 100% CGI. Now two years later there are some people who see them and think of them as run of the mill. I enjoyed the demo, especially by the fact that it is a demo that nearly a year old, which means one year ago it was out of date.
I guess it doesnt help that the formula hasn't changed and there's been countless clones (some good, some bad) recently. I guess I wanted these guys (who seems to have created their own genre called "God of War type games") to innovate and take these kinds of games to the next level. Instead the demo was just.... God of War 2 on roids.
I never understood this mindset. God of War 2 was just God of War 1 on roids. I do not want them to innovate too much. Then it wouldn't be God of War, or at least not to innovate until they are done with the 3 part Kratos series. Let them innovate a lot in the next God of War. Refine and make better, that is what sequels should be for in this case.
but at the time there was only one game out like that... GOW1. Not in this world of clones and competition you have to stay ahead of the game and be the guys making the genre... Not another one in the pile. Again, not saying it looks bad or that I wont play it... It just looks meh.
I do not agree with that at all. GOW1 was not innovative. The best argument I could see would be that quick time events were innovative. However the game was just a really good action game.
When GOW1 came out, there was nothing like it. Cinematic, fast paced, finishing moves, HUGE bosses, adventuring, platforming... All in one. Now everyone has done it. EA did it well. Sega did it great... Better in some areas. Darksiders took it a step further (imo of course - some people didnt like Darksiders). Now GOW3 is still the same... Wait, he can fly... Wait, he can hang from little annoying harpies... Wait, there's a scene where he flies up and you dodge stuff. yawn
Darksiders was more of a Zelda clone from all of the reviews I have seen and Bayonetta was a Devils May Cry Clone. Also EA doing it well is up to debate. GOW1 was a devils May cry clone as well. When GOW1 came out there were a few games like it. Rygar for one was like it. Gow1 was more like World of Warcraft, where it took everything everyone else was doing and did it better. God of War 3 should be the same since any "innovations" would make it a different game. While they are on the story of Kratos it shouldn't turn into a God of War Zelda hybrid.
i guess we'll see when the game comes out. My post wasnt meant to discredit GOW3 in any way. I simple agreed with the OP in that the demo failed to drive me to buy the game. I'll end up getting it because... Well because it's God of War after all.
Darksiders was the balls. I think you will probably be won over in the first 5 minutes of this game. There are only so many combinations and ways to be original when it comes to gameplay. Games just have to be fun with a decent story. I liked the demo, although the Harpies were a tad gay. And will be annoying if you have to use them too much. But the flying was sick, and the decapitation was sick, and theres gonna be an assload of cool things like that...on top of sick graphics and fun ***-whippin times. Some things old, some things new.
A video of the Poseidon boss battle has been leaked and its awesome I disagree, the graphics in the Dante's Inferno demo were mediocre at best. (the CGI and the animated scenes look cool) and the plot seems ******ed.(mostly because I cant get past the idea that this is somehow based on the Divine Comedy).

I have it on PS3, and the graphics are not mediocre at all IMO. A demo isn't always an accurate representation of a full built game.
I'll be getting it for sure. After I finish 1 and 2 now that they released them for my non backwards comp PS3 and finish the 10 to 15 other PC and console games I have (some not even opened yet). And after... ah hell I'll just buy it when it comes out. Now if I had common sense and restraint I'd wait a few months get it at a reasonable price. That is an if I rarely achieve though.
Just beat God of War 2 tonight, and now I'm ready to finish the trilogy. Can't wait and will be picking it up the night of launch.
I got this month's game informer magazine today and they gave it a 10/10 in their review. I think that's the first 10/10 I've seen from them since GTA IV. There are a lot of games I want to play but I might be making this one a priority.

they gave uncharted 2 and metal gear 4 a 10 as well. Im starting to suspect fanboyism on their part, No joke. Because Mass Effect 2 got a 9.75. I realize that's nitpicky, but if there was ever an Xbox game that deserved the 10, it was ME2. Also, picked up GOW at midnight. Didn't start it because i got to write papers and go to class. Which neither will happen if i turn on my ps3 today.
I've had that magazine for a while and I haven't really seen a bias. If anything they hate on Wii a lot, but they seem pretty balanced between PS3 and Xbox. This month's issue has a satire in it about how Playstation Home flopped and became irrelevant. I have Mass Effect 2 and love it but I don't have a problem with a rating difference that small. Didn't they give Halo 3 a 10? I can't recall.
